Jim Mora Fired: Please Come Back Jedd

He did not. Oregon State.
November 19th, 2017 at 11:00 PM ^
GTFO of here with that shit. You saw 1 sack yesterday blown up because the rb carried out his fake and the broadcasters called it out so you all think rb pass blocking is some huge problem now.
NEWS FLASH- The majority of football coaches did not play football past high school. The only real correlation that has been shown is that in general the better player you were the less success you have as a coach. I think Jim Harbaugh may be the most successful player turned coach ever anywhere and half the people here are ready to start our next coaching search.
November 19th, 2017 at 7:36 PM ^
The structure of the coaching staff seems weird. Aren't there positions without coaches, ie. WR? I think JH needs determine which coach will handle the entire OL (not split duties), and then fill out the staff to cover each position...and probably get rid of Pep,
November 19th, 2017 at 2:23 PM ^
I don't see him coming back as a logical part of his career progression. But the answer is Pep obviously; but even aside from that there is still the proposal for an extra coach next season.

Jay Harbaugh isn't getting canned, nor does he deserve to get canned. Good Lord, you people.

Our RB's don't do it.
Yes he won't get fired, doesn't mean he should coach RBs
November 19th, 2017 at 3:04 PM ^
Yeah I don't know that he's a great RB coach, but A) he is a great recruiter, which is mostly what a RB coach is, and B) our RB's are doing well with the ball in their hands. Could they benefit from a coach who knows the finer points about blocking from the position? Sure. But they're also somewhat hampered as blockers by being smaller, 200ish pound guys. Deveon Smith was a great blocker. Was that because of Wheatley or was that because Deveon was 230 pounds and liked to hit people in the mouth? I'm not sure.
November 19th, 2017 at 5:19 PM ^
DrMT, I generally like your posts and I appreciate your perspective (as a former walk-on IIRC).
What about Vincent Smith? He was smaller than all these guys and he seemed plenty good at blocking and the associated nuances.
November 19th, 2017 at 6:07 PM ^
Yeah, good point, he was great, but he shared the affinity for knocking people's teeth out with Deveon. Seems like Higdon could be that, Evans doesn't seem like the type. Not saying he isn't tough, just that he might need more technique coaching to get his head around it. (In my experience) some guys, big or small, are just of the mindset that they are going to hurt you before you hurt them. Others need to trust their technique 1000% to feel great about taking on bigger guys. I definitely don't disagree that RB pass blocking could potentially be improved with a true RB coach.

Never too late to come back with Jedd
November 19th, 2017 at 2:14 PM ^
But when they bring in a big name, I hope Jedd Jedd comes back, and brings DTR and a few others
November 19th, 2017 at 2:16 PM ^
Jedd isn't coming back. He has no interest in being a coordinator.
November 19th, 2017 at 2:17 PM ^
I mean, I doubt he gets a HC offer after a losing season as a OC. Why not have him here for a couple years before he becomes a HC?
November 19th, 2017 at 2:21 PM ^
He would have a ton of tools to work with next year that's for sure, but I am certain that we would have to give him the full title of OC (not just PGC). I would guess he interviews for some of the lower tier jobs that open up after guys move around, however (like Iowa State or Memphis).
November 19th, 2017 at 2:41 PM ^
It's highly unlikely after an offensive disaster like this year that someone doesn't take a bullet for these struggles, regardless of youth and history with Harbaugh. Could be Pep, but Drevno is the responsible party as OC so it's probably going to polishing up the resume time pretty quick here. He can get an FCS HC job or an NFL job.
November 19th, 2017 at 10:17 PM ^
Jedd would look like a genius, helping bolster his resume.
November 19th, 2017 at 2:37 PM ^
Don't think this will hurt his career much as the defense is more of UCLA's problem than offense. They were pretty solid on offense, especially passing, and Rosen has good numbers and is obviously on track to be a very high draft pick. He's not going to get a really attractive offer for next year, but his rep isnt gonna take a hit over this.
November 19th, 2017 at 3:56 PM ^
Tennessee is open. ;-)
November 19th, 2017 at 2:27 PM ^
Yes. Look for Jedd to take the big job at a mid-level program--say UCF after Frost leaves for Nebraska.
November 19th, 2017 at 2:39 PM ^
What was the reason he went to UCLA in the first place? Weather?
I realize he's got HC aspirations, would that have been less possible coming straight from Michigan?
Harbaugh's got west-coast connections to help him get a HC job there?
The PAC's less blue-blood mentality, hiring chai-drinking, flip-flop wearing, i'm-vegetarian-5-days-a-week, sunglasses, sorta-young, social-media cool-guys? (i'm saying I hate californians is what I'm saying)

Yeah totally unlike the USC scandals, the Oregon scandals, the Colorado coach covering up his assistant coach beating his girlfriend, the Colorado player impregnating the head coach's daughter....the SEC is totally the only conference where scandalous things happen, never the Pac 12.
November 19th, 2017 at 3:20 PM ^
That's brutal bro. Over 20 years ago.
However, back then, the word was the football staff was really worried about the future of their recruiting, because it was reported that McCartney's daughter was thinking about moving out of town. ; )

I get this, but to me, I don't really care how people were acting outwardly when they commit transgressions. Person A says "Thou shalt not kill!" and Person B says "Sometimes killing is ok" and they both kill someone...they're the same to me.

The longer the time away, the better his offenses were. Come this time next year, it’ll be “I remember when Fisch was here, Michigan scored 48 points a game, passed for an average of 450 yds a game, and Wilton Speight was a Heisman finalist.”
November 19th, 2017 at 2:35 PM ^
November 19th, 2017 at 3:06 PM ^
Um... Last year we scored 40 points a game. So, pretty close.
