the worst traffic congestion pre-game that I've ever seen.  Must have been way more people coming into town just to hangout without tickets than normal.  Maybe the later start will spread things out some.

I was there for that one. We were stuck in traffic, and saw cop cars escorting buses  -- and going very fast -- on the shoulder. It was the Ohio State team buses, which had been stuck in traffic, and they were pretty damn late themselves arriving to the stadium!

We made kickoff, but just barely. There was no tailgating that day. It was just a "park the car and GO" situation.

State fans don't travel well when they suck. If they lose to Iowa, the State contingent won't be that big. Hopefully the game is over in the 4th quarter and they all leave early.

Not too worried about the MSU crowd. I think they'll be a little humble and/or subdued this year. They'll probably roll into the game 2-2 knowing that it won't get much better for them.

While I don't like this issue being taken out of Michigan's hands, I can also do the math.  This is the 7th season we've had lights and there's been just three night games.  Plus last year's Wisconsin game was SUPPOSED to be a night game...until it wasn't.  Michigan clearly doesn't want to do night games.  Taking it out of our control is pretty much the only way to get a night game at the big house.

So on one hand, grrr.   On the other hand, yay!

Maybe here? Not sure. In any event, I read somewhere that Michigan is planning 3 night games in 2017-2018; so, it's gonna be 2 this year and 1 next year, or vice-versa.

Can anyone vouch for the accuracy of that?

If they do have a second night game in 2017, I would think that the only viable option would be Minnesota.

See, I am thrilled about this MSU night game but hopefully Minnesota will stick to a 3:30PM/4:00PM slot. Not high profile enough for a night battle (unless they're undefeated) and by November it'll be significantly colder.

I imagine the two night games will come in 2018. Three highly palatable options:

  • September 22nd vs. Nebraska (this one screams night game)
  • October 13th vs. Wisconsin (same)
  • November 3rd vs. Penn State (again, may have the cold to deal with, but could be a huge matchup, especially if PSU beats OSU in Happy Valley beforehand).

It's a fucking bad idea. We need Iowa to beat them up really good so they are too dejected to come to Ann Arbor in droves. Is this typical UofM elitism? Yup. But 60% of Spartan fans are fucking degenerates that are just a few wrong words away from going neanderthal. I hate that this game is at night.

Let's take care of matters in the first half, and send the Go Green/Go White crowd back to their RVs at halftime.  Hated seeing them popping off two years ago in our town.

God dammit.

As someone who drives over 300 miles one way to these games. I hate night games.

I like drinking early getting the game done. Getting back to my firends house and watching some night games while I shake off a hangover.

This is going to be a fucking nightmare. Fantastic.
