For a second I thought this was referencing the Ron Johnson currently on the roster.

May be controversial but stock down on Jim being considered one of the premier coaches in college football seems appropriate.

On the contrary, I don't think it is very open-minded to support someone just because they went to UM. I have met enough students, faculty, and employees at the University to know that going to UM doesn't preclude someone from being an asshole or terrible human being. So I'm not in the business of blindly supporting other alums, particularly when they embody values that I find morally repugnant.

The 'great to see' part of your post is the only thing controversial. I think people on both sides of the political landscape care much more about how a judge will uphold the Constitution as opposed to the school they attended.

Care to elaborate why other than your contrived '4 star good! 3 star bad!' take?

06/24/2018 - 4:37pm Is your only definition of a…

Is your only definition of a good recruit  whether the player has 4 stars or more? That is such an arbitrary distinction, and far from an ideal analysis. And I understand the correlation of stars with success but that is such a simple cause and effect that ignores countless of other factors (ie offers, recent evaluations, what state do they reside, fit within a team's system, coach's previous success recruiting this position).

Additionally, not all 3, 4, or 5 star players are equivalent and this is a point you just can't seem to grasp. You don't think for yourself beyong looking at the star ranking and it's pathetic.

05/30/2018 - 1:13pm The parallels of Dave Brandon

The parallels of Dave Brandon decimating the norms and traditions of the Michigan Athletic Department in just a few years compared to what some current leaders in the country are doing is uncanny to say the least.

I love how people shit on LeBron for switching teams and being a so-called 'diva', but ignore the fact that MJ had to leave the sport in his prime because he was gambling on the games.

I am big fan of Wolverine Brewing Company. Great beer, great nachos, and the environment isn't overwhelming.

The College Football 'off-season' has been absolutely nuts, and it's only early December.

11/30/2017 - 6:10pm May be unpopular, but the whole Michigan Man thing

May be unpopular, but the whole Michigan Man thing needs to go away. I'd rather we call him a former coach/player, as opposed to using some moniker that is supposed to espouse some level of moral superiority.

This is even more relevant for someone who's supposed moral shortcomings led to Moeller going off the deep end.

11/27/2017 - 11:33am Why? And what coach could

Why? And what coach could have done a better job masking the issues of a passing game that started three different quarterbacks, and had had to play true freshman wide receivers extensively?

11/03/2017 - 5:41pm How in the hell do you have Kugler as the other

How in the hell do you have Kugler as the other lineman at 7-8? Onwenu has killed him in the UFR department. Sounds like you just want to fit this narrative that the offensive line will be awful next year based on opinion as opposed to facts.

JV and it isn't even close. Hill may have went to UM, but I can't say I remember him playing or hold an emotional attachment to Michigan baseball. Verlander was an anchor (even this is an understatement when he was at his peak) on the Tigers staff for well over a decade, and has provided me some of my favorite sports memories in that span. Tear it up Verlander!!!

Considering the 'hot take' world we live in, none of this is a surprise. Whether it's sports, religion, or politics, the ability to behave and think rationally in the face of emotional outbursts and misinformation is a skill lacking in many people.

10/23/2017 - 5:15pm I still think the PMT interviews with Harbaugh

I still think the PMT interviews with Harbaugh might be the best interviews he has given. Felt very real and comfortable. Can't say I'm a big fan of the Barstool Brand, but the PMT boys have something special going on and will find their feel elsewhere eventually.

Or the players just aren't that competent, and the playbook has been severely limited as a result. Frey just arrived so give it some time on inside zone.

10/02/2017 - 1:51pm I don't know how you can say the team has no

I don't know how you can say the team has no identity? I think it's pretty clear what Harbaugh wants to run on offense. Just because they haven't been good at it doesn't mean the coaches lack a cohesive offensive identity.

09/30/2017 - 9:48pm I still think they probably have the most talent

I still think they probably have the most talent of any conference in the country. Even the lower tier SEC schools still recruit pretty damn well. Just has to make it that much more perplexing and frustrating for fans of these teams. Really illustrates the importance of coaching at the college level.

09/27/2017 - 10:53am How about you just hope for noticeable improvement

How about you just hope for noticeable improvement from last year's team, instead of setting yourself up for failure by placing unreasonable expectations on this squad?

Are you secretly a MSU fan as well WD? Looking for disrespect where there is none.

From reading between the lines of several impartial NFL analysts, it sounds like the concerns about his coverage skills entering the league have so far been justified. Not saying he won't improve, but it's definitely an area he needs to get a lot better at to stay at safety in the NFL.

09/25/2017 - 11:54am I think I am more concerned

I think I am more concerned about the Michigan State fans you are gonna be interacting with.

You also thought you would need to defend yourself during the Women's March that took place last Febraury in Ann Arbor. Get a grip man.

09/25/2017 - 11:52am Yeah, because only the MSU

Yeah, because only the MSU fans will be drinking all day and getting riled up...

Lol. You epitomize the worst aspects of the stereotypical Michigan fan.

09/20/2017 - 3:01pm There is a very good book called 'Fooled by

There is a very good book called 'Fooled by Randomness' that does a great job addressing this issue. Almost everyone misinterprets skill versus luck, and the roles each of those has in getting to where we are in life. Being rich doesn't mean you are skilled, nor does someone being broke mean they lack skill.

09/19/2017 - 11:25am Why do people assume Jess

Why do people assume Jess Fisch was such a savior? Michigan was much experienced on offense last year, and they still had multiple dud performances on that side of the ball. I very much doubt that Fisch would somehow alleviate the issues we are having with all the youth in the passing game.

09/18/2017 - 4:36pm Weren't most expectaions that

Weren't most expectaions that Michigan would only win 9 or 10 games this year anyway? And isn't Florida still one of the top 4 teams on the schedule?

09/18/2017 - 2:54pm If you are miserable while we are winning, then

If you are miserable while we are winning, then why bother watching at all?

09/18/2017 - 2:50pm Valid Points

If anything, the struggles on offense really do highlight how barren Hoke left that side the ball. Just think if we didn't have Harbaugh. Needed to grab Rudock instantly. Without him year one is obviously much worse. Now look at the upper classmen on the OL, RB, WR, and TE. Its not pretty. We finally have talent across the board there, but they are young. The importance of experience can't be understated when talking about 18-21 year olds and playing consistently well.

Yeah, he was stationed in Saigon, and worked as a mechanic (I guess that's the right term) repairing B-52 bombers. If you would like to know more details, I can ask him about it in the AM.

09/16/2017 - 8:18pm Totally Agree

Took my Dad to the game today for his birthday. He is a four year veteran of the Air Force and served in Vietnam, and he absolutely loved the experience. Definitely a day I'll carry with me for the rest of my life.

And while playing the service academies present unique challenges (ie triple option attack), I think there is something to be admired about playing these schools. While we all love Michigan football, at the end of the day, it's just a sport. There are a lot of way more important issues going on in the world, and sometimes it's tough to put that in perspective when we are obsessing over every incomplete pass, or questionable play call. But on a day like today, you realize that those kids on the field signed up to dedicate a decent chunk of their lives to serve and protect this country. And it takes people like them, which allows us all to have the opportunity to attend/watch our team play every Saturday in the fall.

09/16/2017 - 4:29pm How do we know that Hamilton or Harbaugh aren't

How do we know that Hamilton or Harbaugh aren't making these calls as well?

09/16/2017 - 4:18pm While the offense does have it's share of issues,

While the offense does have it's share of issues, at least it seems like the Defense and Special Teams are going to be elite units this year. I would like to think that given all the young talent on offense and Harbaugh's track record, that side of the ball will improve. And with those two elite units, we just need to be average (maybe slightly above average) to have a shot at winning every game on the schedule.

09/16/2017 - 4:04pm Or Michigan lost three seniors on the offensive

Or Michigan lost three seniors on the offensive line, their top three receiving threats, and our best blocking tight end. Fisch has Josh Rosen right now, who is considered a top QB prospect in the upcoming NFL draft. But the idea that we just might not be as talented as last year on offense isn't as easy to accept as it is to blame the coaching.

09/15/2017 - 6:40pm Dude. Most people understand Speight is the best

Dude. Most people understand Speight is the best quarterback we have available. Additionally, most people understand that if he doesn't limit his mistakes and become more consistent, Michigan won't win the Big Ten or make the CFB Playoff. The End (did I do that right?)

09/14/2017 - 8:39am Before posters start nitpicking Drevno's play

Before posters start nitpicking Drevno's play calling ability, they might want to consider that it's a three headed monster, including input from both Harbaugh and Hamilton as well. You can't complain about Drevno, without the other two being culpable for the same issue.

09/09/2017 - 3:57pm Cool

You still took a huge gamble, that wasn't necessary. Glad it worked out for your sake, but the decision was still suspect and you wasted money for a ticket and experience your child will never remember

09/08/2017 - 7:14pm I would absolutely love to hear about all the

I would absolutely love to hear about all the other untrue media narratives you are suggesting.

Not saying they don't exist, but if you make the claim back it up with some definitely assertions.

09/04/2017 - 12:56pm I don't think that is right.

I don't think that is right. He had what,4 to 5 passes that were thrown to Taco Pants? Another 2 to 4 that were thown out of bounds so the receiver had no chance to make a play. Took a couple of sacks instead of checking down to a wide open Evans in space. I mean the first touchdown ended up with 6 points, but there is no reason that the safety should have had a chance to make contact with Black and knock the ball out.

Yeah there were a couple of drops, but even the drops weren't passes that would get a DO. He struggled, but he is still our best QB. He just can't continue this trend of performances against any defense that is good to above average.

09/04/2017 - 12:50pm I don't think that is the

I don't think that is the issue. Fans are not looking for a Tom Brady level of performance out of him. They want a QB that can manage the offense and avoid turnovers so that the defense can potentially give us a chance to win the Big Ten.  The game against Florida did nothing but provide more data that he might not be up to that task.

09/04/2017 - 12:39pm I don't know how he can

I don't know how he can destory the haters if he objectively charts the game. It won't be kind to Speight. He may be the best QB on the roster, but I am sure he will be the first to admit he needs to play better in the future if we are gonna beat Wisky, PSU, or OSU.

04/07/2017 - 10:38am Would you be willing to

Would you be willing to explicity state how you would have wanted him to handle these issues? And then could you offer any sort of precedent for the situation to have been handled that way?

It is always much easier to complain than to offer alternative ways for situations you don't agree with to have been handled.

01/22/2017 - 2:41pm You started this thread hoping Michigan players go

You started this thread hoping Michigan players go out of their way to physically hurt the other team because of some perceived sleight. But apparently millions of people peacefully marching to protest the actions and statements of the President make them emotionally unstable. Do you enjoy being a hypocrite?

02/09/2016 - 10:38pm Looks to be either Speight or

Looks to be either Speight or O'Korn. Both are similar in height and hair style. Can't be Morris since it is a right handed QB.

02/03/2016 - 10:31pm Elle Johnson.

Elle Johnson.

01/07/2016 - 11:22pm Michigan was only in a position to win against MSU

Michigan was only in a position to win against MSU due to the hidden punting yardage against MSU or did you conviently forget that MSU out gained us in yardage a ton that game?

01/05/2016 - 2:50pm Well they are 25th in Kenpom,

Well they are 25th in Kenpom, right behind Michigan, so I wouldn't necessarily say they aren't very good. Definitely a team we are fighting for to be in the top 5 of the conference this year.

09/14/2015 - 12:19pm I don't know how much

I don't know how much influence the AD has on setting game times but a friend in the department said Harbaugh was pushing hard for this to be at noon due to the time zone difference and wanted to take advantage of it if possible.
