What do you want to see against the Fightin' Fickells?

Submitted by ShruteBeetFarms on

UC is coming off a 26-14 win against the Austin Peay Governors. The team stats of the game are not impressive so this should be an easy victory. Aside from no injuries, I'd like to see a dominant offensive line performance and to see what Kareem Walker can do. I also wouldn't mind seeing some Brandon Peters action once Speight and O'Korn are done for the day.

What do you want to see?

Start fast. No early mistakes. No injuries. Ball security on offense. No turnovers. Turn them over on Defense. Let's see an INT or two. Cincy doesn't get a first down while our first string D is on the field. No punts while Speight is in.

1) No injuries
2) Speight continuing to develop chemistry with the new receivers.
3) Some rotation with the DL to build up the depth behind the starters. Gary, Hurst, Mone and Winovich are damn good, but guys like Solomon, Dwumfour, Vilain, they all need to be ready when OSU rolls into town.
4) A dominant OL performance.
5) Continued experience for the secondary.
6) Again, NO INJURIES

later this season play a lot. There are a lot of candidates. I want to see our starting secondary look solid again so they can sit. That's still the position group where our depth scares me.

I'm expecting to see a sluggish start. So I'd like to see them recover quickly from that.

Less penalties.

I'd like the CB's to get tested a little more and make some more improvements. There are some upcoming teams (Purdue, Indiana) that will be slinging the ball all over.

I'd also like to see a lot of backups get experience.

The last time I told someone I expected backups to get some extended playing time, I was sitting in Section 21 at the Akron game talking with my best friend before the opening kickoff. So, yeah, that really didn't turn out well.

That said, I would like to see (1) Speight show some significant improvement over the coming weeks, (2) our new OL and their backups get some quality snaps, (3) our new DBs show some betterr awareness and ball skills, and (4) Brandon Peters and Oliver Martin get a chance to flash their skills.

As for the defense, they look fine, but depth development for DBs and DL will pay dividends as the season progresses.

as possible sharing at the table,  a defensive shut out, couple of field goals, no turnovers, no injuries is what I want to see.  Will be happy with a dominating, decisive win and no injuries.

Murder on the dance floor.

This is the best "play everyone who is healthy" game on the schedule. If they don't throw three pick-6s I bet the second half is mostly backups getting some time on ABC.

I want to see the defense just as dominate as it was on saturday. I would like to see the line open up some big holes on the inside and some drives sustained totally by the run game. I would also to see Speight hit some deep throws off play action to get his confidence back

Lots of things I want to see.

  • I want to see Speight not sail balls. No more passes to Tacopants.
  • I want to see "God's play," i.e., a power run game. Want to see them drill this down.
  • Want to see the right side of the offensive line do better.
  • Want to see three TE's on the field at the same time, with a FB, the OL, QB and WR.

I want to see some big plays from the young WRs. Black, DPJ, Crawford and McDoom having wow moments. Then some of the other guys coming in later.

1. Punt return for touchdown

2. Start a Rythm between Speight and WR's

3. Cover point spread by halftime

4. Shut out by starters

5. Pick 6 by good guys

6. At least 6 sacks

7. At least 2 fumble recoveries

8. Less than 200 yds total offense by Cinci

I could see this being like last season where Speight was in for a lot longer than people would have thought given the lopsided score. Last year, it was probably b/c of his inexperience, though this Saturday we may see it given his subpar performance in the opener.

Doubt we'll see Peters.

This is a good topic.

Up front offensively, I want to see if Kugler continues to play well as he did last Saturday and if Ulizio improves against some lesser competition. Hopefully that gets him going.

On defense, I thought the DBs really improved their ball skills in the 2nd half. I hope they continue that going into this week. I know we were spoiled the last couple seasons with Jourdan Lewis, but at times I thought the DBs were in position to make some plays that just weren't made.

I'm also thinking we'll see some more names on defense on Saturday and it will give a good chance to see the depth.
