Jim McElwain: “Their guys were bigger and stronger. They whooped us. Plain and simple.”
“I thought we had a good plan obviously. As it turned out, the plan was pretty well foiled by getting whooped.”

Faster too.
September 2nd, 2017 at 10:49 PM ^
That would of been the icing on the cake if an SEC coach admitted a Big Ten team played faster.

My memory could be wrong but I thought Morgan Trent actually caught Percy Harvin from behind. Could have been a function of cuts and angles, and Percy was blazig fast, but we had equally fast guys (or at least one)...

Is that what they say is the source of speed? Thought that was an Iowa and Wisconsin thing that produces big linemen.

Dead man walking.
He's an aquatic Brady Hoke.

DJ Durkin next year.
Kinda humorous, mostly serious. Texas may wind up being awful, but Maryland is showing real growth (in a program that has no business growing) and Durkin has coached for Florida before.
I'm in favor of getting Durkin out of the division, myself, but the team that needs him gone the most is MSU, which is looking at a ceiling of 5th in the division if Durkin sticks around.

That would be a good hire, truthfully.

Do we want Maryland to be bad? Even when they're good, we should be much better. It seems to run counter to all the complaints about having Rutgers and Maryland vs stronger teams in the conference.
September 2nd, 2017 at 10:24 PM ^
We want them to be reasonably good to drain some recruiting talent away from a resurgent Penn State.
At the end of the day, most recruits still stay within 3 hours of home.
For those elite ones that do in the DC/MD/VA area, we want them to pick Maryland over Penn State.

be a bowl team each season but not good enough to beat us....ever. There are enough good teams in the division that any time we win it, we'll be in the CFP if we win the next game. No need to make it harder to win it than it already is.
September 3rd, 2017 at 8:39 AM ^
They are a very good foil for Penn State. They hate them.
Not that we don't get up to play Penn State, but they really get up to play Penn State.
They can knock them off in one of those years where we might come up short in a Happy Valley night game and we need somebody else to give PSU a loss.
September 2nd, 2017 at 11:48 PM ^
we don't want them to be too good either!
September 3rd, 2017 at 12:52 AM ^
You want a good Maryland team. Especially since they run the spread and that helps the Michigan defense prepare for the tree loving horses asses. Awesome seeing Urb'z assistant getting smacked down in Texas. Fuck the the Longhorns. Those fat sows that call themselves men sitting on their gift wrapped oil money to bring wins for their favorite football team.

i just see another brady hoke. there are only a few great coaches. thank god michigan has one of them. and the comment earlier about durkin is what you can`t make fans of the rutgers and marylands of the world understand, a really outstanding coach is not going to stay there for long.

the grim reaper? The undertaker?
Not sure why a team with a struggling offense in need of saving the HCs job would hire him again. He seems really bad at coaching. Seems like his only positive acheivement thus far is not completely tanking some ridiculously talented Alabama teams even though I'm pretty sure they were the worst offensive teams under Saban.
