NEG UPDATE: New #1

Submitted by The Fugitive on

It wouldn't be near the first game if we didn't have a neg record. If you recall, last season Mr Yost set an (un)official Neg record.  According to MGoHoF, Yost's Neg total as of the spring was 1,248 for not believing UMbig11's report that Speight was QB1.

Well then.

Somewittyname did not let that record stand.  Please go to the Camp Update from Sam Webb thread and Neg if you haven't already.

EDIT: As of 12:50pm on Sunday, the results are as follows:

Total Negs 4,621
Total Posts 37
Neg Average 125
Neg High 259

The table only takes into account Negs in the Camp Update thread.

It is important to note that this poster began their spree with over 4,400 points and is currently -1,397.  We can assume this poster accumulated roughly 5,800 Negs over the course of 18 hours.

The Mods may need to confirm this, but have we ever witnessed an OP that has a negative point total?  someshittyname created a post (which can be negged here) comparing last year's starters versus this year's projected starters.  It's hilarious to me to see that negative point total in an OP.  Nice job.

I'm not counting upvotes. Strictly Negs. Thank you stephenrjking for pointing out the current total in the HoF.

Logged in to help ya witty. I for one feel like the board went a little overboard. Mob mentality at it's finest. Plus, your concerns are legit. Can't say I find fault in your thoughts.

Even in the best of times, MGoBlog is a large pack of fractious, jumpy mongrels with hair-trigger tempers.

But by mid-summer, the pack's nervousness and impatience ratchets up the tension to extremely high levels, and what would normally be minor disagreements over a scrap of discarded and moldy Zingerman's sandwich turn into snarling, pack-wide free-for-alls that result in bloody ears, torn noses, and wounded pride. Some quietly leave, unable to bear the insult.

Things will really come to a head in late August when some cur will persist in trying to defend that last morsel of rotting pastrami, and the entire pack will gleefully turn on it, recognizing an opportunity to expend some of its nervous tension before the first kick-off.

Mr. Yost's meltdown last year was August 27. It's no coincidence that we're basically at the same exact point in the cycle now.

Just read through some of the stuff. Imagine being such a sad individual that your choice activity on Saturday night is to have 5+ hour long temper tantrums on a sports blog.

At just before 8, he was at 661. Little more than an hour later, he's at 105. At this rate, he'll be underwater by 9:30.

Boom: -2 at 9:27.

Well done.

Now -86; that's almost 200 pts in about a half hour, but the rate seems to be slowing.

Nope, it's now -544 by 10:30. This is like watching a bear market. How low will it go?

-1129 an hour later at 11:38. Still descending at a good clip.

Just saw was down to 30 an likely negative by the time i press post. Based on the continually kicking of the hive, I am wondering if our "friend" is: 1. Having some sort of crisis 2. Had someone pranking them by using their account 3. Needs to sober up from their bender 4. Is truly that big of a jack wagon. I am hoping for #2 but we will never know. Here is where we need the mgoblog poll feature.

"Nolan Ulizio and Jon Runyan have been doing great," Bredeson said. "Nolan's been working really hard this fall. He's had a really, really great camp. How's that for a good sign

Thanks to everyone who participated last night. It was a blast. I'm sure we'll do it again some other brew night. Here's where you say, "no thanks," but we all know you really mean yes, please. ;)
