My guess is Holtmann is pitching opportunity.  Since he's a newer coach to OSU, he can pitch the whole rebuilding thing and that he can be a cornerstone of that.  That's my best guess, as current situations definitely point to Michigan if he wants to be a part of development, deep tournament runs, etc.

07/14/2018 - 3:38pm No way, not that I have any…

No way, not that I have any inside info, but OSU doing something sketchy with recruiting?  Surely not the same university that signed Mike Weber and his primary recruiting contact basically leaving the next day?  Blasphemy for you suggesting such from OSU.  On the other hand, they are definitely not on par with Michigan Bball and maybe hes just strictly looking for an immediate starting opportunity at a school where he will get a alot of visibility, regardless of the fact that they will probably not be very good.

07/02/2018 - 8:00pm I agree, but again, I think…

I agree, but again, I think alot has been to do the last few years with the awful QB play on the road, since we've been down to 2nd and 3rd string QB's and not much depth coming off the Hoke years.  These upper classmen are some of the first Harbaugh recruits and I'm sure they don't care about the past of losing on the road / rivalries, they are good and just want to win.  But this will be a make or break year in terms of how good Harbaugh and the coaching staff are at developing them and getting them off the hump of playing rivalries and / winning on the road.

07/02/2018 - 6:52pm IDK, personally I think any…

IDK, personally I think any more than 1 or 2 losses would be a huge disappointment.  Most people for a few years now have been pointing to this year as the year.  I don't care about the schedule difficulty, at the end of the day, if you're better than someone, you should beat them.  Even the so-called tough games, outside of OSU, I think we're better than.  This team doesn't have a glaring weakness.  The defense should be freakish good, with depth.  The offense has both very good running backs back this year, plus talent behind them.  The O-Line is presumably better, which even at just good, should be enough to win most games.  The wide receiver talent is freakish.  One of our biggest un-doings the past few years has been bad QB play once the #1 got hurt.  I'm not worried this year.  Whoever wins the battle between Patterson and Peters will be very good, and if they were to get hurt, the second guy is your backup.  Those two go down?  Dylan McCaffrey, one of the top QB's in his class, is coming off a redshirt and now 2 years in the system.  I remember reading for the past few months, from the insiders, that he was pretty close with Peters.  Special teams? Check with Nordin and the athletic talent on the coverage teams / return team with DPJ fielding punts.  Just feel like if something special doesn't happen this year, then I don't know when.

06/23/2018 - 2:36pm Bluey's going to be Bluey. …

Bluey's going to be Bluey.  Most people roasted the posted yesterday for posting a thread about ignoring him.  There's no point in getting bent out of shape at his posts at this point, he's going to post what he wants to post unless he's eventually hopefully banned.  I'm all for constructive criticism but when you basically shit on a hello post for a kid like he did yesterday then there's no hope.  I'm not giving him any more attention as that's obviously what he's looking for.  If everybody that doesn't care for him stops posting comments about him going forward maybe he'll get bored and leave, going back to his apartment in East Lansing and setting his couch on fire for fun, or go to his vacation home in Columbus, OH and poop in his cooler for fun.

06/16/2018 - 10:35pm I think alot has to do with…

I think alot has to do with name recognition too. Alabama can schedule whoever the hell they want and have it be as easy as possible, because come Selection day, they've won national titles and the committee realizes that for the CFP.  As much as I hate to say it, the same holds true for Ohio State.  In terms of national title, we haven't been relevant in a long time, so pounding Hawaii won't help you.  As hard as it is, I like the schedule this year, because if we're as good as we're all hoping we will be, then that 3rd toughest schedule in the country will come in very handy should we have a loss or two come the selection process.

We live in Midwest OH and have had Directv for several years.  We do get occasional outages due to severe thunderstorms.  My biggest issue with Directv is they overcharge, but tell you to "play the game" and call back every year to get a big discount to stay with them. I've been doing this for years as the only reason I stick with them is I like the NFL Ticket as I'm a Chicago Bears fan living in OH, so until I'd go to a sports bar weekly and pay for beer and food to watch a game, it'd be more than paying Directv's fee.  I think I even mentioned when I was calling about the price last year that I'm amazed how they air the commercials that say Number 1 in Customer Satisfaction, considering I have to keep a spreadsheet of my conversations with them to track how many times I've had to call and threaten to leave before getting the yearly discount.

Did anybody else notice that Sir Charles Barkley is an ass hat? At halftime he gave us no chance to win, and when I was watching the late nigh highlights just now, they conveniently seemed to skip over his opinion regarding the second half of the Michigan game.  Did I miss something after several Bud Lights?

Purdue's very good, but no team really scares me with the way we're playing right now.  Based on rankings and rivalry hatred, we just beat a better team by double digits and it was fairly comfortable most of the way.  Purdue may beat us, but bring them on!

This past year offensively upset me as well, but a lot of people, both on the board and off, pointed to 2018 as the year.  Personally myself and alot of people got spoiled when we beat some not so great teams early on and didn't think the youth aspect was an issue any longer.  It was hard to watch the end of 2017, but I still think the coaching staff as is is quality.  This is the year when I think we'll be able to tell whether they are or not.  Most of the Oline is returning and you'll have some high profile recruits (Chuck Filiaga for example) where we could field a line averaging close to what Wisconsin does, only better recruiting chops (if you look at that)  With Black coming back from injury and DPJ now having a year of experience, to me it will boil down to QB play.  If Patterson gets immediate eligibility, this could be a special year with the defense basically coming back intact.  Whoever would come out of Peters / Patterson should be very good at the least.

Yeah it probably does matter.  The only reason OSU got into the playoff in the first year is because they dismantled Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game. Sure, they could have taken the gas off a few scores earlier too but didn't and it got them in.  Not saying taking a knee at 35-10 is that big of a deal, but it seems like we lay off when other teams don't.  I'm pretty sure it was Jourdan Lewis or one of the other defensive backs after the MSU game last year said they let up.  I guarantee Dantonio has never let up against us.  They just seem to want it more every year.  Same thing with OSU given our record against them since 2000.  Neg away but repeated history says something.

I sure hope they try and score.  Perception is a big factor with the CFP committee and bowl selection.  Never mind, Michigan took a knee to let everyone get a participation trophy.  Probably the same reason we lose to a bad MSU team and OSU every year, we don't have the same killer instinct and motivation.

I am but doesn't make it any easier.  Every year the wife has the same argument "why can't yo have fun watching the big football game with our friends" keeping in mind everyone else is diehard obnoxious OSU fan, not casual watching.  When I tell her it sounds like "lots of fun" she doesn't seem to like to hear it.

11/11/2017 - 6:29pm Maybe it's because I live in Ohio but this 2nd half performance

Maybe it's because I live in Ohio but this 2nd half performance reminds me of why we never beat OSU.  Maryland's down their best offensive linemen and on their 5th string QB and march down the field. I can only imagine what Barrett and OSU will do to us and another year of having to hear shit from my Ohio family / in-laws.

O'Korn no doubt has talent.  Hopefully he just needs to hit a comfort level because he has talent based on what he did at Houston.  Not to mention in interviews leading up to the season he seemed to have alot more moxie.

Brady Quinn said one of Blough's strengths is accuracy.  He's correct, he's been very accurate throwing to the other team in his career.

Yeah I have Directv and was thinking maybe FS1 to start the game, but they have UCF and Maryland.  Maybe they give them the fist and broadcast Purdue and Michigan instead?

Are you f'ing kidding me?  Brewers just went deep and tied the game?!  Screw Fox, I agree with the above, atleast ABC / ESPN has alternate options.  No idea wtf will happen with extra innings.  We all have to become huge Brewers fans right now so they end this thing.

Yeah I live in Midwest OH and have Directv.  We're getting flyers from Spectrum for something ridiculous like $29.99 a month for a bundle package, but I've heard absolute horror stories about their service.  I have plenty of my own horror stories dealing with Directv, but being a Chicago Bears fan in OH, I atleast get NFL ticket this way.

This makes me think they should build a wall around Alabama.  Keep them to themselves and "homegrown".  If only they didn't have such good football recruits to try and grab.

I feel good about the line.  Even though they're young for the most part, the biggest difference it seems is the toughness.  Harbaugh's bringing guys in that have an attitude and that's why I wasn't too worried about Ulizio and Onwenu.  They'll make mistakes but you can tell them guys, along with Kugler, Bredeson, and Cole like to enforce their will.  I think this will be the biggest difference in the line this year will be the ability to run the ball behind these guys.  They already showed it against a good D in Florida and gives me hope they continue to develop and can win games in the trenches in games like PSU, Wisconsin, and OSU to get a lead and hold onto it by running the ball to close the game out.

I fully agree.  I wasn't at the game, but my yelling at the tv wasn't as much directed at the players, but the coaches.  Those guys make millions of dollars a year to handle criticism.  Watching the game early on atleast, it did look to me (personal opinion caveat), the players didn't have the same edge to them as the Florida game. But again, when I was pissed, it was directed towards the coaches for not motivating / coaching them better.  This is inevitably going to happen at a place like Michigan, where winning is expected.  The unfortunate thing about boos is, as a player, they are not able to decipher who they're directed at.  When you come to play football at a place like Michigan, the expectations are high so you have to deal with it.  And if you're at any other high level football program, like OSU, Alabama, etc., if the team doesn't perform well at all, you will hear the same thing.  Overall lesson is, if you're a big time football player at  big time program, this is what you deal with.

09/09/2017 - 5:56pm IDK, I think people in attendance are entitled to their opinions

IDK, I think people in attendance are entitled to their opinions.  Yes, is it ideal to boo, whether directly or indirectly at young men, no.  But in the same right, I believe people in general work hard for family and career wise and use sports as one of their outlets, so when they feel the team isn't performing well, whether it be coaches or players, they should be able to express their opinions.  If it's a requisite that you can only go to a sporting event if you cheer for your team no matter what, I don't know that many people would bother going to games.

This game I imagine is like kissing your sister.  No one wins.  On the bright side, Lavert Hill getting a pick 6 will only help his confidence and hopefully help ascend him to being Jourdan Lewis 2.0.  Other than than that, not too much to be happy about, coaching included.

I noticed too, atleast from the camera shots, Harbaugh all game hasn't seemed as fiery.  No matter how competitive you are, it's hard not to listen to the outside and everybody was talking us up after last week.  I'm sure we'll probably atleast hold on to win, so hopefully this is a wake up call to everyone and they regain the tenacity the rest of the season based off of this.

IDK what to expect from the team this year. Watching the first 2 games this year I truly believe this team could either win the national title or lose 6 games.

They don't call Black actually being held, but they call the hand fighting in the end zone for Cincinnati when our cornerback actually got his head around?  After the OSU measurement last year, I'm starting to think there is a RHMG out there (referee hating Michigan god).

I know it's one game and it's a long season, but seeing the track record and living in Ohio, I already have a really bad feeling about that last game of the year based on this performance.  Speight hasn't looked great through the first 2 games and this was the year he was supposed to take the leap.  The overthrows are not the receivers fault.  Since he's still playing, obviously the coaches don't think O'Korn or Peters are better options.  Ugh.

Not to mention, are the guys on defense that gassed by a few plays?  I've seen a lot of backups down around the goal line and throughout the game so far.  It's not like Cincinnati has been that high tempo, would think the starters would last more than a few plays.

Hopefully a fire gets lit under everyone's ass at halftime, including the coaches.  No matter how disciplined the team seems to be, I have to believe all of the media talk from last week and Cincinnati's opponent in the first game and how poorly they played, had an effect on how the team performed in the first half.  Hopefully they come out in the second half and show up with the tenacity they had last week and blow this team out.

this is f'ing miserable.  Not only on 4th and short earlier then 4th and 5 from your side of the field and you punt.  The commentators say the coaching staff must have faith in the defense but if thats the case Harbaugh can justify sending the defense on a short field if they don't make it on 4th down, which they should, given the weight deficiencies.  Its easy to be an arm chair QB coach and I'm sure Harbaugh only cares about the win, but at the end of the season when they're deciding on who should get into the playoff, these types of games and style points matters.

Will taste like chicken and sweet, sweet defeat no matter what.  On an unrelated note, does ESPN have a contract with UF?  From Tom Luginbill to Todd Blackledge on the Paul Finebaum show, all I hear is how athletic UF is compared to Michigan.  Yet no mention about UF"s banged up line / inexperience against what looks to be one of the most dominant defensive lines in the country and inexperienced backup RB's for Florida picking up exotic blitzes from the Mad Hatter, Don Brown.  Are they contractually obligated to ignore probably the biggest deciding factors, the trenches, when doing these interviews and leaning towards the SEC because of Finebaum?
