Submitted by drakemc on
Just heard from a friend who is a BIG Florida Gator fan that 5 players involved in potential credit card fraud...one of them might be Callaway. Apparently bought iwatches and then tried to report their cards stolen.

This reminds me of the idiot in my fraternity who sent an email saying he could get legit fake IDs for $100.  A couple guys went in. He got arrested.

They will have to forfeit their credit cards and only use UF issued debit cards charged to the football teams account...

Screw the SEC.  We will destroy them.  And show them how the B1G prepares players for the speed of the NFL!!

these guys will be well on their way to earning that bachelor's degree in "Florida Man."

Note to OP: I would rewrite the headline to read "Rumor: 80 Florida players may not be in trouble." It's more grabby.

Hearing more here in Gainesville. No idea how accurate this info is, but it sounds plausible.

Word now is that the players were using a financial aid or school issued card and then reporting it stolen so that it would get replaced. Essentially, they could double the money.

Supposedly one player did it and told others and then they started doing it as well. A single incident didn't throw up any red flags, but when the number of people claiming lost or stolen cards starting growing the admin started looking into it. Apparently one player admitted to it and gave the name of the guy that came up with the scam.

Supposedly one player (not a starter) has already been dismissed from the team. I am guessing that would be the ring leader. The other players are going to have to make restitution to remain eligible. Punishment will be handled in house. No charges filed with authorities.

It's also being said that one player was forced to leave his shared apartment by another players parents who have the lease to the apartment.

Looks like this whole thing has huge potential to be divisive in the locker room and be a huge distraction.

BTW, the starters involved are supposedly Callaway and OL Taylor. Once again, this is just what I heard.

You need the AD and the cult leade... err, coach to sign off on it, then the deluded fanbase will follow blindly as long as you go at least 10-3 (with no meaningful victories). Oh, and take away their Rome vacation/PR stunt. Forgot that one, though does that do justice? I know financial aid fraud for a couple hundred dollars, I imagine, is much more consequential than sexual or cop assault. But, please, proceed with the hypocrisy in this thread. The Zeke Elliott one has grown full.

You could at least create an account name for the team you truly root for.  It's not like we don't know there isn't an ounce of "Blue" in your blood.  You must be "buckeye" as you are not that smart.
