If You Could Add 1 Former Player To This Years Football Team Who Would It Be And Why?

Submitted by Santa Clause on

Was reading r/cfb and discovered an interesting thread. If it was up to me, I would add Jake Long. That would instantly take our O-Line from a C+ one to a B+/A- one. Speight would have more time in the pocket and we could rely on at least one person to get push vs elite defensive lines. What say you Mgoblog?

Jim Harbaugh or Tom Brady in their primes. This team is in need of an elite QB ... and then an OL that can protect that guy to big things.

I'm going to go with a dark horse:

Devin Gardner.

I really wonder what he could have been with a consistent role (no WR switch) and minimal coaching turnover (how many OCs did the guy have?).

He's the biggest what-if since I've started following Michigan football.

I understand that QB isn't our biggest need, and this isn't a shot at Speight or any others in the stable, but all of my choices would have to do with unfinished business: Henson, 4th year of Jabrill, etc.

We did this as a This Week's Obsession last year. It's Long. That gives Michigan either an experienced senior at center if we find a right tackle, or Cole can flip to RT. I was hoping they'd find a grad transfer OT. Like WMU has one and Fleck just left.

If only for the ultimate in META threads after a game, this might very well be the correct answer to the OP's question. I can only imagine the presser if - for some reason - Harbaugh does some things that Coach Harbaugh is not terribly fond of seeing.

Considering you werent specific and never said that their skills would return to how they were at Michigan its pretty much a no brainer: Tom Fucking Brady in current form in College=National Championship

As for what you meant:

1. Charles Woodson (No Brainer) Even though O Line is weak Woodson affects every aspect of the team

2. Jake Long- O line sucks so this could arguably be the best choice

3. Jabrill Peppers- Another year of Jabrill and he would have been insanely good

4. Tyrone Wheatley- I just want a singular stud running back again instead of this rotational crap

5. Jim Harbaugh- Two Harbaughs on one team....Nuff said

I'm trying to go outside the obvious answers, because they've been pretty well-covered. So I'm gonna say Brandon Graham. Graham, Gary, and Hurst as the first team D-Line...I'm into it.

I'd take any of:

Anthony Carter, Tshimanga Biakabutuka, Charles Woodson, Jake Long or LaMarr Woodley.  Any of them would take our team to another level.
