Michigan Now Favored for Joe Milton in CB
UM was trending for Joe Milton following the Spring Game, but Florida still held the majority of the predictions, as prior to the Spring Game had 100% of predictions to UF. Tonight, however, 9 Ballz (including one from Lorenz) for Michigan, all of which occured between 6:18-9:16pm, put us in front.
Milton also announced that he will be deciding at some point this week:
"The Orlando (Fla.) Olympia High School recruit told 247Sports that he's "thinking this week one day or like the start of next week," for his commitment announcement.""
A fair-minded conclusion is that these two recent developments, and with DTR to UCLA, are the proof that Michigan will be getting its first QB of the 2018 class this week.

These guys are deciding pretty early. Come on down Joe.
And then help recruit those other positions.
Win.

To what quarterback does he compare?
You can take a look at TTB to get my idea if you wish. That's is a perfect world, of course, but I would want him to be more consistent, but if not, I'd still take the winning pct.
I couldn't find anything on that site.

Magnus says that Milton reminds him of Devin Gardner. That sounds pretty damned good to me - I remain convinced that the coaching and OC changes probably hurt Gardner as much as any other player during the RichRod/Hoke years.
Looks like a great fit for Harbaugh's system.
Coaching and OC changes probably hurt Gardner more than any other player during Michigan's entire history.
I'd feel really bad for him if it wasn't for the fact that he'll probably be CEO of something someday.

I like the Gardner comparison...except this kid's got a cannon. He flicks the ball down the field like, I hate to say it, Cardale Jones.
He's obviously not these guys, but his game is Gardner in the lower body and early college Jameis/Cardale with the upper body.
MichiganMan14 needs to calm down with the pushing Peters stuff, but there's no reason this kid won't push for the starting job after Peters is gone.
With his size, if things don't work out he looks like he could be a big redzone Funchess/Devin Gardner the WR type target.
He's going to play regardless.
Harbaugh coaches Kaep and he coaches Jameis in those workouts...both have called him the best coach they've ever had. He knows what to do with this type of talent. This kid could be a game changers.
on the message board Lemon Eater plus Magnus shared a scouting report, link found in this thread
Both were rangy quarterbacks who could throw on the run. Of course, Namath's mobility and great running ability was short-circuited late in his college career. But this kid has the kind of quick release and accuracy deep that Namath possessed. Stature-wise I was thinking of Tyrell Pryor and Cam Newton. but Pryor has a terrrible release and was mostly a runner at qb, while Newton was both a late-bloomer whose cannon arm still betrays him as a pro because he lacks the kind of touch necessary to be a more accurate passer, an ability this kid already seems to have mastered. He just needs better tutelage, experience and opportunity to really show what he can do. If Michigan lands him, this kid is the type of player you expect to see taking you to national championship seasons.
You can't teach "size or frame", but you sure can use HGH to acheive it !
And Milton is the QB I have wanted most out of the main 3 I have heard mentioned. Just look at a picutre of him and compare to DTR. One says beast and one says I got beat out by tate martell. I still do think DTR has unique skills and would have liked him here, but Milton is also a high potential guy.
Awesome comments MM14. The thing is I feel Michigan is always going to be at the top or near the top, but ucla is going to go through some tough times and so goes for dtr. He may even have a losing record. I think it is obvious Milton is on his way and I think he will always be playing with a better team.
No way in hell Milton will push Peters. By the time he gets on campus Peters will be 3 years deep into our S&C program and our playbook. Milton needs at least 2-3 of seasoning before he can even compete. Look at his completion percentage in HIGH SCHOOL. Less than 50%. He also throws a lot of interceptions and needs to work on taking heat of some passes so his receivers can catch the ball easier. Joe is oozing with potential but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
I think you are right, Peters is probably out of the question. But I think it's realistic to think that his Redshirt sophmore year, he could be in the mix. Competing against redshirt junior mccaffery. By the way this board talks, Peters will certainly be in the NFL by that point.

This young man, probably hard pressed to find a qb with stronger arm in the class has so much potential and so much that he could learn from Harbaugh that he could turn out to be one hell of a consolation prize for losing DTR. He's big, strong, agile and has reasonable speed. Let coaches H and Pep apply the polish and we could have something special in about three years which would make him only a RS freshman.
I think the implication of the comment you replied to is that Milton shouldn't be considered a "consolation prize" even though we were recruiting DTR too.

speaking of TTB, Magnus' incoming recruit scores, were surprisingly low. Well, Ruiz was 99, but the others, were far lower than what I would have predicted, based on his ranking for Hoke's recruits. Interesting stuff.
I have four guys ranked as potential All-Americans, and another twelve ranked as "very good starters." If you get 16 guys in one class that can be identified as "very good starters" or better, then I think you're doing pretty well.
247 has him ranked as the #10 pro style QB. Top 10 anything in the country is great plus he still has an entire season to prove himself more.
Would be a good pick up
We are deep enough with QB's that any incoming player will always be given enough time to develop their weakneses and to prove themselves by the time that the starter leaves. We'd have three great options after Wilton leaves, but Joe Milton just might be the most talented and certainly most versatile of them all. Imo, Milton has such unteachable qualities (height, frame, strength, speed) that I'd probably take him over everybody, with Harbaugh's coaching.
Hope Joe Milton comes our way!

"two consecutive seasons at the high school level under 50 percent completions"
Harbaugh was born for this moment.
DTR might have had higher upside, but Milton might fit Harbaugh's offense better. He has incredible pocket presence and accuracy, a strong arm, and good mobility. I think Milton will become an excellent QB after a couple years under Harbaugh/Drevno/Hamilton.
but this kid looks like young Jim Harbaugh.
The Original:
The Protege (stupid Hudl videos).
Their movement in the pocket is so similar, it's uncanny. Their throwing motion seems a bit different, but otherwise, these two both have this way of looking like they are freelancing on even simple read plays.
I like him better then DTR and is the one QB I really want in this class. C'mon down Joe and join the UM family.
He may be a bit of a project but the good thing is that he will probably have 2-3 seasons behind Peters and McCaffery to get any kinks worked out.

Have not watched any tape on this kid except one throw. He is a big strong kid with a very strong arm and looks like he is headed to the team so we will be able to watch him develop under Harbaugh.
