Curtis Blackwell is the suspended MSU Football Staffer
February 14th, 2017 at 3:26 PM ^
It's 3:25 by my computer clock. I give it no more than 15 minutes - tops.
Godspeed my poor MSU arrested coach reveal thread.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:32 PM ^
It's going to be big time news. There's nothing else to talk about.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
Previous threads on this topic were deleted or locked because people took the opportunity to make fun of our rival while making light of the tragedy of the alleged crime and victim.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
It was all speculation.
Now, there's a real story behind this.
February 14th, 2017 at 4:02 PM ^
I think it had little to do with the speculative nature of the story and much to do with people apparently taking delight in a tragic event. There's plenty of room to appropriately discuss this news, in my opinion, but celebration is over the line.
February 14th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
I understand celebration is over the line. But this is going to be big time news about a team 45 minutes down the road from A2. There's nothing wrong with this thread.
Ultimately, every thread goes down a path that leads to problems. That's the way of a message board.
February 14th, 2017 at 4:28 PM ^
I agree. Big news about a rival and about a growing concern within college and sports culture. Should be discussed here for sure. You asked why mgrowold predicted thread deletion and I explained why. There's nothing wrong with this thread's topic. We've yet to see if there will be anything wrong with this thread.
February 14th, 2017 at 5:31 PM ^
Speculation or not...its not a laughing matter for rivalry ribbing. Period. That was the point for the first comment.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:51 PM ^
Last jillion threads on the subject have gotten nuked once people started making jokes about the subject. Didnt see where this one be any different.

Funny, I was saying that as well. Though probably not for the same reason as him.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
...an education from Baylor as well.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:27 PM ^
I would say that's bye-bye to in-state recruiting for MSU, but it's already gone anyway.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:31 PM ^
Is he the MLK coach that MSU "Harbaughed."
As in hired specifically to start a MLK pipeline?
February 14th, 2017 at 3:34 PM ^
I don't think MLK specifically, but he ran the Sound Mind Sound Body camp which plugged him into the whole Detroit football scene pretty hard. That's what MSU hired. And two of three rumored players in this investigation are Detroit kids as well.

Stupid double post...

Yep. Not looking so righteous now.

Where's the champions? Those who stayed are already hiding in the weeds. The threat shall prevail.

the greatest upset in NCAA basketball tournament history as a top 2 seed favored to win the tournament losing to a 15 seed on top of all the other stuff.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:40 PM ^
The words "tone deaf" come to mind...
February 14th, 2017 at 6:37 PM ^
The story isnt about Michigan vs Michigan St. Its a problem at all colleges. We have a problem in our society, where 1 in 4 girls in college face some type of sexual assualt. That is a crazy number. That is what we have to focus on and find a resolution. Not whether Curtis Blackwell is a good or bad dude.

Well he won't be able to plead insanity in court, since he is of Sound Mind Sound Body.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
There is a Cheech and Chong joke in there, but cannot be repeated here for fear of thread nuking.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:30 PM ^
Poor guy has been punished with extra paid vacation.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:32 PM ^
with pay. Doubt anything comes of this for him.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:59 PM ^
This is just the first step.
If the rumors are true, he'll be fired not too long after the allegations are formally made in the jutice system.
Dr. Nassar was suspended first too, fired some weeks later.

February 14th, 2017 at 3:32 PM ^
I'm not sure MSU could handle this situation any worse than they have. As much as I dislike MSU, I feel badly for their whole athletic department.
Except Izzo. He's an asshole.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:36 PM ^
I have to disagree with you. Maybe my expectations have been dulled by seeing Baylor doing something stupid once a week, but MSU seems to be taking swift action to get out in front of this.
Not saying they are handling it perfectly, but it could definitely be worse.
February 14th, 2017 at 3:46 PM ^
Only because their hand has been forced due to the Nassar investigations. Otherwise I'm sure this would have been swept under the rug just like the Payne/Appling sexual assault.
February 14th, 2017 at 4:07 PM ^
February 14th, 2017 at 4:21 PM ^
Izzo is also out in the press defending Hollis and Dantonio, vouching for their character. I did not want to start a thread over that (seems prone to turning into a shitshow almost immediately), but Izzo?
That Adreian Payne / Izzo staged friendship of that poor child was one of the most jaded things I've seen in my life.
