Harris made his announcement - he looked around (at Michigan) but never decommitted. He never reopened his recruitment or even said it was a soft commitment
The problem: he was asked repeatedly to confirm his commitment and wouldn't do it. He also apparently told our staff he was coming here, or something close to that, hence Sam's update awhlle back about "popping champagne."
I never expected him to come so this announcement doesn't bother me much. I just wish he would have come out with it sooner, rather than apparently lie to our staff and string them along for weeks.

I would agree...but if he does choose Michigan I don't think he's obligated to say it again. Just sign when it's time.
Plenty of guys commit and flirt with other schools and sign with their original choice and never make a huge deal about it.

Stop Mr. Yost from posting his stream of consciousness - not now, nor in the future.

This fucking take pisses me off so much. Literally nothing he did was attention grabbing. If a bunch of grown men weren't fucking pathetic this wouldn't be a story. He committed to bama. Went on visits to make sure he was sure and never de-comitted and is now going to the school he is committed to. That isn't attention seeking. If everybody on this blog wasn't a fucking crazy person driving a market for people to make a living guessing about the intentions of 17 year olds who don't even give them interviews this wouldn't be a thing. He did literally nothing. You can;t say someone who does nothing is attention grabbing because you are obsessed.

I'm not buying this "not being attention-seeking" meme about him. He is attention-seeking in that same way as that hot already-engaged girl who still flirts and goes out to dinner with you. You know that she's engaged but she gives you little coy hints and signs that leaves you to think that maybe she'll break her engagement off and that you have a chance.
All he had to do was to make a statement affirming his commitment to Alabama during any of this crazy time. Yes, he does not owe the fanbases anything, but he does owe the staff that respect. I mean, all this time chasing and pursing him may have been better spent trying to recruit another player that we could have gotten.

Sam sometimes relies too heavily on what his Michigan sources are telling him. He should take that stuff with a grain of salt when the competition is Alabama, or any other SEC school, for that matter.

He all but said Najee was coming. Don't argue semantics with this "never gave his gut feeling" nonsense. The guy wants people to pay to see his information, he can't cop out when he is wrong.

Try to direct traffic to a site that he uses as a source of income!

Webb admitted that he never had any direct information from Harris nor his inner circle, and he would continue to write lengthy posts about Harris that didn't give even an iota of concrete information. He would cite second-hand info repeatedly and pass it along as unequivocal facts.
I am still trying to gather how you can say a player that has never decommited is uncertain about his choice when you haven't gotten word of it from the player or his inner circle. Is it because the UM staff thinks they are making headway? That is where the slippery slope comes in. Just based on basic decorum, a player might respond well to your hospitality and overtures, but until you convince him to decommit, you have to be honest and admit that this might not be the battle everyone was led to believe. It sure didn't look like it to me.
I read where Webb offered evidence that the other Michigan recruits thought he was coming and I almost fell out of my seat. There was a marked difference between the UM recruits quotes and the Bama recruit quotes in regards to Harris. Our recruits seemed pretty distant about it and repeatedly said it would be nice to play with him but it will be his choice were he goes. The Bama recruits were clear in their position that when talking to Harris there didn't seem to be any waffling, that he was committed to Bama and it was solid. Webb, and other Michigan bloggers, repeatedly glossed over that subtle but very telling information, which should have been the most credible, simply because Harris is most likely to be candid with his own teammates.

There was never a gut feeling on Najee. Get your facts straight.

before the All Star game Webb called Harris to Michigan. He went on record as saying it, so in this case, it was more than a gut feeling it was an actual prediction.
