I get your frustration with the errors. But, seriously, you went and copied EVERY thought you had on this topic and reposted in one comment to make sure everyone saw everything you had to say?! God forbid one of your golden opinions got deleted by a site error before the masses could be witness to it! Perhaps you should publish your tome of wisdoms.

Harris made his announcement - he looked around (at Michigan) but never decommitted. He never reopened his recruitment or even said it was a soft commitment

The problem: he was asked repeatedly to confirm his commitment and wouldn't do it. He also apparently told our staff he was coming here, or something close to that, hence Sam's update awhlle back about "popping champagne."

I never expected him to come so this announcement doesn't bother me much. I just wish he would have come out with it sooner, rather than apparently lie to our staff and string them along for weeks.

If he isn't coming to Michigan I could not possibly care less what he does. I don't hope he gets hurt or anything but he ceases to exist in my mind, basically. If he never sees the field for Bama or whoever I won't give 8 shits.

A little full of ourselves to be block quoting things we said in an earlier post. Your opinion has been shared. Often. I actually agree with you. But it's almost like you feel the need to police every single comment that you deem out of line. That's not the point of a message board - shouting over every opinion that is expressed that is different from your own. There are hundreds of active posters on this board. Yet your opinion is posted and posted and block quoted and reposted and referred to. We get it.

This fucking take pisses me off so much.  Literally nothing he did was attention grabbing.  If a bunch of grown men weren't fucking pathetic this wouldn't be a story.  He committed to bama.  Went on visits to make sure he was sure and never de-comitted and is now going to the school he is committed to.  That isn't attention seeking.  If everybody on this blog wasn't a fucking crazy person driving a market for people to make a living guessing about the intentions of 17 year olds who don't even give them interviews this wouldn't be a thing.  He did literally nothing.  You can;t say someone who does nothing is attention grabbing because you are obsessed.

I have to disagree with nothing he did was attention grabbing. He did exactly what Tua said he was going to do, yet Najee denied those reports. If he didn't want the attention all he had to say was Tua is correct or I'm sticking with my commitment. It wasn't just me or a few people on mgo that was making something out of nothing, it was the primary recruiting storyline on 247 and during the US Army All-American game. I don't know how many early enrollees there are across the country, probably a couple hundred, yet he's the only one that kept where he was going a secret. If that doesn't scream LOOK AT ME, I don't what does. I'm not saying this makes him a bad person or anything close to that, I think the players should have fun with it, but please don't say everyone imagined this drama without Najee playing any role in it.

He owes us no information. Maybe he actually was undecided who knows, it isn't his job to provide the answers we want. Being attention grabbing is doing something to get attention. He kept to himself, it was only a story because we demand answers. That's not Najee's fault that's our fault. He wasn't attention seeking, we were crazy. There is a difference, not providing affirmative information isn't attention seeking unless you operate from a place where for some reason we deserve that which I don't agree with.

I'm not buying this "not being attention-seeking" meme about him.  He is attention-seeking in that same way as that hot already-engaged girl who still flirts and goes out to dinner with you.  You know that she's engaged but she gives you little coy hints and signs that leaves you to think that maybe she'll break her engagement off and that you have a chance.

All he had to do was to make a statement affirming his commitment to Alabama during any of this crazy time.  Yes, he does not owe the fanbases anything, but he does owe the staff that respect.  I mean, all this time chasing and pursing him may have been better spent trying to recruit another player that we could have gotten.

Changed minds and misdirection that you merely speculate on can be used to absolve any recruiting reporter of noise they create. You're fostering an environment where they can say almost anything and never be wrong. Someone with such little accountability isn't worth listening to because their reputation can always be cleared by a certain sect.

Never. It's not semantics. He gave the information he had, and laid it out clearly. People bashing Sam are WAY off base. I can't hear his radio show, but I've read every word on that site, and he never said it was done. Lots of smoke, and reasons for his optimistic messages. But, grown ass men (and women) need to get a grip. Stop bashing the kids, and stop taking out their disappointment on Sam.

Webb admitted that he never had any direct information from Harris nor his inner circle, and he would continue to write lengthy posts about Harris that didn't give even an iota of concrete information. He would cite second-hand info repeatedly and pass it along as unequivocal facts.

I am still trying to gather how you can say a player that has never decommited is uncertain about his choice when you haven't gotten word of it from the player or his inner circle. Is it because the UM staff thinks they are making headway? That is where the slippery slope comes in. Just based on basic decorum, a player might respond well to your hospitality and overtures, but until you convince him to decommit, you have to be honest and admit that this might not be the battle everyone was led to believe. It sure didn't look like it to me.

I read where Webb offered evidence that the other Michigan recruits thought he was coming and I almost fell out of my seat. There was a marked difference between the UM recruits quotes and the Bama recruit quotes in regards to Harris. Our recruits seemed pretty distant about it and repeatedly said it would be nice to play with him but it will be his choice were he goes. The Bama recruits were clear in their position that when talking to Harris there didn't seem to be any waffling, that he was committed to Bama and it was solid. Webb, and other Michigan bloggers, repeatedly glossed over that subtle but very telling information, which should have been the most credible, simply because Harris is most likely to be candid with his own teammates.

Seriously. So sick of reading Sam bashing cause he didn't call an 18 year old's decision correctly. And don't tell me it's his job. His job is to give news regarding recruiting. Which he did. End of story. If you don't want his info don't pay for it and don't read any thread that has his info. Wait... you read every single one. Hypocrisy on point, bro.

Did you actually read what he wrote or listen to anything he said on podcast? Because he was actually one of the last M insiders to jump onboard the 'Najee to Michigan' train. If anything, he was really careful tot throw several qualifiers into any statement he made about it. Even after he finally said he thought Najee was coming, he made sure to emphasize that he didn't know for sure and it was not a gut feeling.

Yes. Projected him in the class. He also went on to clarify that it isn't a guy feeling. That he doesn't actually know one way or another what Harris is going to do, because he hasn't heard anything directly from Najee or his family. Just that he thinks Najee ends up at Michigan. That's the issue. People who are bashing Sam don't know what Sam even said. Sam never said Najee is going to Michigan. Just that he felt he would. All the while clarifying that it's not a gut feeling and he doesn't have concrete info. Just a personal belief.

Well, I've become pretty disengaged with recruiting, so I'm not a "Sam hater."

I will say though that this kind of prediction ("a projection but not a gut feeling") seems like a cop-out.  Either predict him in the class or don't . . . don't be weaselly.
