Michigan needs to do whatever it has to do to keep Wheatley. (more money, co-offensive coordinator, etc). You all can act blind if you want but Wheatley is our best recruiter outside of J.H. He connects with these recruits and their parents like none of the other staff does.

Much like Larry Johnson does at OSU he is a big reason we have a  top 5 class again this year and the rumors are just bullshit put out by Bama to sway Najee. If the Najee thing was'nt true he would just go to Birmingham. I think we got him if he's going back home but we must keep Wheatley.

After a couple more years at Michigan as an O.C.. he will have lots of schools wanting to pay him just as much as they paid Fleck, Kill, Ash,  as well as these other bums out there. I think Michigan needs to step up and show him how much he means to the program.  I really don't think he wants to goso bad that he takes the shittiest deal on the table.

This move would make him a mediocre coach, in a mediocre league who will top out at Western and never be heard from again once he's fired for not mirroring what the last coach at Western was able to do. I see visions of the black coach at Eastern Michigan who just couldn't get over the hump. Where is he now????

I don't disagree that he would like to be a HC one day but when will his alma matre see that his resume in the sport is arguably better than those currently doing the job, particularly if you look at his success as a player.  Some of these coaches never played in the NFL or at an elite university in college

I hate that some coaches work harder, bring more to the table, have more experience both practical and in theory but Wheatley gets looked at as a great candidate for a second rate mediocre job at WMU. Is their a glass ceiling in place at the very school he has given sooo much to, that won't allow him to get to the next level unless he goes to a MAC school and grind it out on his leather ass? Some guys never have elite success in college. never play pro ball, come in as a grad assistant and get to ride the coat tail of a future hall of famer to a job at Maryland, Georgia, Houston, or Texas and earn millions

His own alma matre ought to see the value in rewarding their own over others. He is a difference maker in recruiting for us and recruits, their parents, as well as others in the minority community recognize his value, and want to see more deserving minorities earn top pay. too, not his collegues saying "oh well, easy come easy go"

He's not going anywhere but his recent follows have made people open their eyes to how important he is to this team. Perhaps looking at Pep Hamilton and others to come in as OC has him thinking "why not me? I could do that job too" Why not give him a shot as OC and let Braylon Edwards coach the WR's?

Part of our new successful culture under Harbaugh is/will be hiring coaches who are very good and ambitious.  Like quality players, we simply reload on top coach talent as Harbaugh disciples "graduate." I love Wheatley, too, but fact is it is a sign of a healthy program for our coaches to prosper and move elsewhere...

...to be replaced by newer promising coaching talent.  It's MICHIGAN with Harbaugh. We're a destination for top COACHES, too. Not just players.

Harbaugh is the straw the stirs the drink in Ann Arbor. Wheatley leaving would stink, but we'd manage without him if we had to.

I would so much rather have other schools trying to poach our coaching talent than what we had under the previous regime, where it was clear that outside of Mattison, no one wanted anything to do with giving any of our coaches a call. The sign of a great, healthy program is when other schools come calling asking if your assistants would be willing to take over. There's a reason that Saban guys, Meyer guys, Coach K guys, and Harbaugh guys are being poached every year. Because they learn from the best and they coach winning teams.

Now Sam Webb is saying Michigan is back in it for Solomon

Between this and Harris Im just exhausted with the back and forth

We've literally reached the point in which a recruit will say "F88k Michigan" then the next day say Michigan is still in it. Da fug

expect a ton of "I'M BEING FER SERIOUS FELLAS ($)" links. I wish nothing but the best for the kid and everyone else. I have no hate. Yet, he said "F**k Michigan" in a video (lmao). At best this feels like slight damage control and likely coming from his mother (understandably). Solomon is not coming here but I truly wish he did. Again, I held zero contempt after the video stuff. It just says a lot, even for a teenager being a teenager.

The coaches have followed many players on social media who are committed elsewhere. Only difference is this time those committed recruits are to a school without a coach. So everyone is leaping to the conclusion that he's a target when no where has there been talk of him talking to or being mentioned as a candidate.

But he is trying to sift through all those lies that Saban and Bama have been telling him all week in a last ditch effort to get him to go to Bama.

What I don't get is that he's having trouble deciding between Michigan and Alabama.

Those are two very different programs, in two very different locations, headed by two very different coaches.

It seems that if you liked one you wouldn't really like the other.

It's not like choosing between blondes and brunettes, it's like choosing between men and women.

I guess that's your opinion and the way you look at Alabama and Michigan. Though I don't really think most kids would have those same feelings. A recruit could be simply looking at Alabama and Michigan as two quality football programs and having trouble deciding between the two. Most players would probably feel they could easily adjust to any differences in coaching personnel and environment the two schools may have.

He might like Michigan but also would like to be a part of a national championship. We hope to be in the mix but Saban has proven he can keep Bama in the mix year after year. Harris might win 2 NCs being at Bama for 3 years the way things have gone over the past decade.

Harbaugh and Michigan are trending up but may be more of a gamble in that regard
