Najee Harris will not be making public decision, will show up at school

5-star RB Najee Harris: he will not make a decision public. He's ducking out after Army Bowl, and will just show up at a school. Buckle up.

Bonus Comment from apparentely*** Najee's Brother...

I want my brother to go to Michigan simple as that. He can be a legend there!

Foreshadowing???

#Michigan QB commit Dylan McCaffrey has a change to be a game-changer with his legs in Ann Arbor, perhaps faking to this guy Najee Harris.

Those are the guys that should have ceremonies. May be the last or only chance at some fame. A guy like Najee will most likely end up playing om sundays. He will get plenty of adulation then.

This is a pretty cool way to do it. A different kind of cool compared to wifi problems with the video/man in sweater standing in front of the camera, and a high school concert before you open a present with a dawg hat in it.

Got to think the national recruiting sites are going to go all TMZ at various airports.

With Fisch leaving, the the NCAA considering increasing the number of coaches allowed, I am just saying that a guy with Najee's brother's obvious smarts could have a place on this staff.  Does he know anything about football?  Georgia wouldn't care.

This is just awesome.  For my own personal gain I want to know now, but part of me just loves this.  I mean come on, this has a Harbaugh guy written all over him.  Just take your lunch box and show up to work.

I'd like to think this bodes well for Michigan's chances, as it appears he is trying to avoid any kind of fallout that may come from fans/coaches/media. Still seems like he wouldn't really owe Michigan much since he has been committed to Bama, so it feels like most of the blowback would be coming from the team that he is essentially bailing on for lack of a better word.

Regardless where he ends up I like his style, and this will end up being a recruitment to remember.

Maybe this is just my recruiting paranoia, but I thought the opposite. He's technically committed to Alabama (since April 2015), so if he's saying he's not going to communicate any more about his recruitment, and he's just going to show up and enroll, that sounds like he's going to do so at Bama.

I'm with Blueph on this one.  There's nothing that truly points to him coming to Michigan.  He's been a commit for over a year.  He's a high character kid that likes Harbaugh but something made him choose Alabama in the first place.  You assume he's going to Bama.  Then, if he really does flip, you're ecstatic.  You do it the other way around....some people are going to lose their shit and get all huffy puffy about an 18 yr old and how he lead us on.

The reason he'd say something is to carify the situation.  Like it or not, the fact that he's committed to Alabama is now in question.  This creates drama.  If his true goal is to avoid or minimize drama as much as possible, and if he knew he was in fact going to Alabama, all it would take would be 3 5 minute phone calls to end all of this speculation--one to Saban, one to Harbaugh, and one to a reasonably high profile scouting insider on the 247/scout/rivals network.

He hasn't done that, so to me it tells me one of two things:

1)  He's going to Alabama and ISN'T about reducing the drama & is playing this up masterfully; or

2)  He's either genuinely undecided still or he's coming to Michigan & despite his best efforts, it's becoming more dramatic than he wants.

He strikes me as a high character kid, so I think #1 is out.  Either he's truly undecided still, or he's coming to Michigan & wants to minimize the Alabama blowback.

In this day and age of "look at me" and instant gratification via social media, I respect the HELL out of this kid's humility.

He just sounds like a guy that would have a great relationship with our head coach.

I like him already... unless he chooses Bama...lol.

Winter classes begin tomorrow. But, I'd expect Najee to have enough assistance from tutors and such to catch him up on actual missed class time. He has planned to be both an early enrolee and to attend the Army Bowl for a while, so he must have a plan for their overlapping this week, maybe collecting materials and studying in advance.

Now his is a strategy I find kind of interesting, just showing up at an institution. I don't know that we've seen many - if any - high profile recruits choose to make an announcment (or not make one, if you see it this way) quite like that. Actually, I kind of wonder if it will leak out somehow anyway, but I do like the approach.

It's not such a novel strategy.  In fact, several years ago I arrived in Ann Arbor without fanfare, a press conference, or any of the other videos, etc.  I sure as hell didn't do a "hat ceremony".

Just showed up at Michigan, registered for classes, and got down to business.

(Of course, I'm not a great athlete and nobody really gave much of a shit whether I attended Michigan or not.  There's that.  But still, I feel I blazed a trail at Michigan for folks like Najee.)
