UF's Tabor: "Michigan wasn't that good, just well-coached"
Florida's Jalen Tabor, better recognized last New Years Day as a burnt Christmas cookie due to chasing Michigan receivers all day, saying Michigan's 34-point win over Florida was just solely due to being coached well.

Michigan opens the 2017 season against florida.

Isn't that the point of having coaches?
December 17th, 2016 at 10:47 AM ^
The quote is not indicative of its meaning out of context. His point would have been better made by saying, "Last year before playing them we didn't think Michigan was that good, just well coached." The implicit follow up would be, "Then we played them and they whipped our ass. It was surprising."

But why is this dimwit even commenting on Michigan at all? We're not Florida's upcoming bowl opponent. Is Florida even going to a bowl?

Probably this one: "Are you going to get your asses kicked in the bowl game this year like Michigan did to you last year?"
Who says the media can't ask good questions?

A better way to say it would have been, "Football is ninety percent half coaching. The other half is physical".

Half, or 1/2 is .50, which is also 50%.
"Football is 90% 50% coaching. The other 50% is physical."
C'mon man, let's not speak "Tabor".

Frankly I'd rather have good coaches than good players. We can have the most talented players in the world but if the coaching is shit or they don't develop the talent, well we're not going to go very far, are we?
December 17th, 2016 at 1:13 PM ^
December 17th, 2016 at 1:20 PM ^
WHY NOT BOTH? here is obvious
I'm just saying that if you could only have one, I'll take the good coaching. You will more consistently be able to win with that, as we have seen.
Bad coaching = wasted talent

...and this is why!
In short. Fuck you Jalen Tabor.

Their reaction would be priceless considering how much rebuilding doom and gloom they think we'll be in next year

that under Hoke we were actually awesome, but terribly coached?

If Michigan was well-coached but not that good and you lost by 30+ points, what does that say about your coaches?
Tabor doesn't care about 2017, he is gone.

Better to keep one's mouth shut and let people think you're ignorant than to open it and prove it.

I don't think he is either.

I think what he is saying is from a standout talent standpoint on the offense that kicked his defenese's ass. There weren't any Desmond Howards, Mario Manninghams or Tyronne Wheatleys out there tearing them up.
December 17th, 2016 at 10:46 AM ^
Aren't well-coached teams typically very good teams? I guess I am trying to understand whether or not Tabor is taking a swipe at Michigan or attempting to win the next Bulwer-Lytton trophy here, because if it is the latter, he isn't off to the worst start but the sentence could use a little work.
December 17th, 2016 at 10:54 AM ^
I interpret it as "we're better athletes because SEC, but we still lost, so I can only think of one reason why that would be."
December 17th, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
"Thanks for helping us with recruiting during the dead period."
December 17th, 2016 at 11:46 AM ^
December 17th, 2016 at 2:28 PM ^
with an added bit of ego: "It wasn't my fault - I'm better than those guys. It was my coach's fault."
December 17th, 2016 at 10:55 AM ^
Think he is using good here as a proxy for athletic, eg the old SEC stereotype that B1G teams are slow, plodding, unathletic and not that good. Only hope is to coach 'em up. Which is silly, but a surprising common mindset among SEC peeps.

They are doing the same thing for the FSU game all over again.
Looks like we will have to re-educate the good folks down south.
December 17th, 2016 at 1:52 PM ^
For a great many of those loudmouths, there's no educating them, only temporarily shutting them up.

Could be a Citrus Bowl repeat. I know UF has great athletes, but that offense is a mess and they lose their DC and most of their starting D. We lose a lot too, but our young dudes have experience and, as Teez said himself, our coaching is miles ahead.
