"MSU outplayed Michigan for 60% of that game."
No.

Being up by 20 by halftime = Good.
Almost ceding the entire lead in the 2nd half = Not Good.

The first 7 minutes, and the last 11. This was still our worst performance of the year by a wide margin.

Absolutely agree. OSU actually lost a game to an inferior opponent, but does anyone here really think OSU isn't dangerous anymore? The important thing is the W on the scoreboard. Have faith in the Baugh.

remind players of the criticality of fighting for every play.
Perhaps a skin-of-the-teeth win at this point in the season will be helpful for both attitude and preparation the rest of the season.
Fingers crossed . . . .

Not a skin-of-our-teeth win. Only felt that way because we were mentally spotting Sparty 7 points for a crazy last-second play even when it made no sense.

Man, I just feel sad for you that you can't enjoy a WIN against michigan state.
"The most dissapointed you've been in a UM team since you can remeber" lol. You must be fun at parties.

The OSU game last season wasn't that long ago.

We also gave OSU all they could handle during some of our darkest years under Hoke. Shit happens during rivalry games especially on the road. Calm down.

Let's go over some things: Alabama was down 3 TDs to Ole Miss (3-4). Clemson needed a missed chip shot field goal at home to even get to OT against NC State. Washington went to OT against Arizona (2-5). These things happen. Everyone needs to calm the fuck down. And by the way, our game was not nearly as close as any of the above.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:47 PM ^
True, not getting pressure on the QB in the second half was odd. And the offensive playcall creativity just went to zero in the second half.
BUT - these things happen against opponents with huge intensity. Our close game was not as close as other top team's close game this year.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:53 PM ^
Absolutely. And I am not trying to say there aren't issues or concerns. I'm not a football expert like so many are here, so I will defer to them on that. But Jesus. It was 30-17 and they scored with 1 second left.
October 29th, 2016 at 5:04 PM ^
But who do you explain no QB pressure right on the heels of like one sack against crappy Ilinois? That is a worrying pattern emerging going into the home strech of the season/

It's not just "our expectations." We fell 16 points of covering the spread.

hostile away game. The refs were good for the most part, but for some missed PIs on Sparty. The worst was the bounce catch late that could have turned the game.

Apparently the officials wanted a close game late. I hate being this guy, but the lack of holding in the 4th quarter was a joke. MSU knew they weren't calling it and did it every play.
I'll take a win regardless, but could have been more comfortable.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:35 PM ^
Seems like they were utilizing it like they used to utilize defensive PI: the officials aren't going to call it every play and at some point they stopped calling it at all
October 29th, 2016 at 5:21 PM ^
Then don't be that guy...
October 29th, 2016 at 3:58 PM ^
Good to get the win. On offense, I have to question some of the play calling in the 2nd half. On defense, there was some shoddy tackling that gave up big plays. On the refs, I saw a lot of blatant holds that went missed by the Sparty O line in the second half.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:14 PM ^
Agreed on some of the playcalling. I was surprised to see Shane out there which went about as well as you would expect. Also shocked that khalid hill wasn't running the ball on our last offensive play to try get to the 1st down & run out the clock.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:14 PM ^
happened while an official stood next to a MSU lineman who was tackling our edge defender as the QB ran past. There were a lot of obvious holds that were not called and some questionable pass interference calls that were.
October 29th, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
We won. I am happy. On to Maryland.
October 29th, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
As long as we have PEPPERS, we can win every game!!!!
REFS were awful. We were playing against MSU and the Zebras.
Our D has some work to do and our offensive play calling in the fourth was not inspiring.
I still think we can get it done against OSU. I will not be surprised if we are still saving up tons of plays for THE GAME.
October 29th, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
Have we ever been 0-5 in the B1G? Have we ever lost 6 straight? Serious question.
I guaranfuckintee that Coach Harbaugh will never come close to that dumpster fire.

But i'll probably feel better about it tomorrow becasue a win over MSU on the road in a game with below average performance is still a pretty good thing.
D played its worst game of the year, but still game up big at a few key points that were crucial.
The offense was good, except for some mental errors in the running game.
Speight did make several very good throws.
October 29th, 2016 at 3:58 PM ^
This will go down as a Michigan win. And no one will care how it happened.
October 29th, 2016 at 4:03 PM ^
Don't like that it happened against Sparty, but we needed a tough game on the road like this.
It will pay off at Iowa and especially at OSU.
October 29th, 2016 at 3:58 PM ^
We still won. It's what champions do. It could be worse. PSU vs OSU shows that. Party tonight!
