ESPN Uniwatch 2016
#UNIFORMZ
Obviously Michigan is mentioned this year as we were last year.
• Lots of excitement at Michigan, where the school's eight-year run with Adidas is over and the school is now being outfitted by Nike, which has assigned the football team to its Jordan sub-brand. This presents the odd scenario of a football team wearing uniforms with the "Jumpman" basketball logo, but the Wolverines' uniforms are otherwise pretty similar to what they've been wearing in recent years (additional photos here):
Side-by-side comparison of old (left) and new Michigan home unis. New number font is evident in the "2."
Side-by-side comparison of old (left) and new Michigan road unis. Coach Harbaugh says white pants are here to stay.

In another Wolverines note, quarterback John O'Korn -- who wore No. 5 while playing for Houston in 2013 and 2014 and again while serving on the Michigan scout team last season -- is now wearing No. 8:
John O'Korn told me the team was ready to get back in the submarine and go to work, to just play football.
Finally, if you're wondering whether the new Nike contract will result in Michigan wearing lots of alternate uniforms, athletic director Warde Manuel said that will be up to coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff.

Amateur hour.
Uniwatch merely adopted uniform and apparel talk. I was born in it, molded by it.

Paul Lukas has been blogging about sports uniforms, including the kind of trivia you're discussing here, since you were in elementary school. His ESPN column tends to be far less detailed than his blog.
So... "Amateur hour?" More like, "created the genre."
Also, the "wordmark" (as you call it) isn't on the uniform, so I'm not sure why that's relevant.

The Service Academies do alt unis like nobody else.
You would think they would be the last to do it, but instead they do it better than anyone else.

The Navy battleship helmets from last season were a cool idea.

Hard, hot-burning coal from the Appalachian region of the country. We used to heat our house with it when I was a kid in Northeast PA.

It's a color that Nike was pushing on everyone as the latest cool thing about 4-5 years ago. So it's fitting that Purdue is jumping on it now.

Best Helmet ever: Obvious.
Second Best: Navy "Dress Whites" helmet
Third Best: This year's Air Force sharktooth.

*nods* Solid argument. If it were just about sharkteeth and fighter planes, I'd give it to you... but I'm also talking about aesthetics and I think the Dress Whites helmet just LOOKS better.
Agree to disagree.

There is absolutely no chance anyone would know that's Purdue except that we were explicitly told, which fact alone makes those uniforms among the stupidest ever made.
