Caris LeVert #20 Overall!

To Brooklyn by way of Pacers

Huge for him to get into the first round. His foot must be in great shape. Congrats Caris!

on basketball players when I got to stand next to Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars at a MIchigan game once.  I mean, those guys always looked tiny on the court, expecially Isiah.  Well duh, Isiah was clearly taller than me (because of course he is) and Dumars just towered over me, because the dude is 6' 4".   I had never really put it in perspective just how tall the OTHER basketball guys were until I stood next to the smallest guys like Thomas and realized that in real life, he was not a short man at all.

Great spot for him to go too. Brooklyn will in no way be good for at least 3-4 years so there is no pressure on Caris to get on the floor ASAP. The when he does get on the floor he can put as many shots up as he wants.

Good in terms of playing time, but as we've seen with Nik in Philly, that's not always a good thing. Worry would be that the only guys on the roster that can occupy a leadership role and teach Caris, and the other young players, how to be a pro and to understand how the game is played in the NBA are Brook Lopez, who's on the training block, and Jarrett Jack, who's coming off an ACL, has a hefty contract ($6.3 milliion) and a $500,000 team option buy-out.

Jack is known to be a good, solid, team-oriented vet, so if he's there, it'll be good for Caris, but it's hard to see the Nets paying $5 million+ for leadership.

Happy for Caris! What could have been will always be the question. Hopefully he can avoid injuries and enjoy a successful ten year career.

One bit of good news: his injuries led to him getting his degree. Walking away with guaranteed money and a Michigan degree. Nice!

Congrats to caris. Well earned and a great suit to boot. Another first rounder for Beilein. Despite losing the #20 pick in the draft we still made the tourney and *shouldve* beat a team that made the elite eight. That's an argument for another day though =)

Seriously, Brooklyn has by far the most boring roster in the NBA, just totally devoid of exciting players. It's probably the worst roster too. For all the problems of Philly, at least they've got an imagined plan for how they get better. For the Nets, they basically just have to sit and wait until they start to get their draft picks back at the end of the decade.

Caris is exactly the kind of move they have to make, ie, pick a guy with lottery potential but a bad injury history, probably too high, in the hopes that he hits.

Really happy for Caris. Wish he could have stayed healthy at Michigan so we could have seen his full potential. I really hope he has a great nba career. Love the suit by the way. If I was 21-22 year old and getting drafted I would probably wear a very similar suit.

They don't really have anything to lose. They're a terrible team that's guaranteed to be terrible for the next few years, until they get out from under all the dumb trades they made when they were transitioning to Brooklyn. They have to take a gamble that a guy with lottery upside gets over his health issues, even if it's not likely. When you're a bad team picking in the 20s, you might as well go for the 7/1 shot at drafting a guy who can become an all star, because you've already got a whole roster of 1-2 tool journeymen.

So happy. Thank goodness. I felt sick that his luck was going to keep him out of the first round.

I hung out with his mom and his aunt at a game - such nice people. I am so relieved Caris got into the first round - this is a great family that deserved this!

Without reading the 119 comments. I'm pretty damn sure I'm not the first to say: that is one butt ugly suit Caris! And I love you even more for wearing it and representing UofM.
