OT: Sporting Event Bucket List

Submitted by Nobody Likes a… on

This one is pretty straight forward. What remains on your sporting event bucket list? What event do you have to go before your time is up?

For me there are a few MLB stadiums I still have to get to. However, the big one that remaining is the Monaco Grand Prix, forget the racing the party would be the thing (so would having the money to do it properly).

Football: See M play at all Big Ten stadiums.  I have 9 of the original 11 done, and will be adding Iowa this year.

Tennis: Attend all 4 grand slams. Unfortunately only have made US Open so far.

Hockey: See Red Wings play @ all Original Six.  Long way to go at 2/6.

Others I've been lucky to accomplish are watching M in the Final Four and Frozen Four.

A World Cup

One of those soccer games where you might get stabbed (Rangers/Celtic or Boca/River)

A Michigan Final Four or CFP playoff (blew that one in 2013 and am still angry).

but I  would love to see UM take out Clemson in the semis and then roll the Damn  Tide in the Big One. That's pure good over evil, and I can think of nothing I would love to see more.

For you people that listed the Rose Bowl, do it.

I'd like to see the summer Olympics. Obviously a NC for Michigan football, preferably in the Rose Bowl. A Lions Superbowl win. Watch a Tiger pitcher throw a perfect game at Comerica Catch a game at Wrigley and Fenway.

I'll be able to cross of going to a National Championship game this year as it's about 15 minutes from my house. Other than that, I hope to attend at least one World Series game and maybe go to a World Cup for the opening week (and do some traveling while there)

I love discing! Tell us about your own personal course? A full 18? All par 3's? In the woods, open fields? How long did it take you to build it and how challenging is it?

My hometown has some good courses and we hosted the world championships a while ago. That was a fun even to go watch. You would not believe how far and accurate those guys can launch it.

The Olympics would be cool in most any sport to see the world best at something.   Wrestling or some martial art would be cool just because those guys/gals are truly badasses.  Usain Bolt would be cool to see.

Michigan at all the big ten stadiums is of course on the list plus a national championship bowl game.   I've been to 7 of the orginal 11, but we keep adding schools.

Olympics, World Cup, and Pan-Am Games, that would be awesome to go watch!

I agree though, watching Jordan Burroughs whoop the top Russian would be so fun to watch. Heck, just watching Burroughs rip a phone book in half or race up a climbiing rope is enough to entertain me, though.

Rose Bowl
Rose Bowl Nat Champ Game for Mich
World Cup
Super Bowl
Mich Bowl Game

I would say the GAME 7 of a World Series in Yankee Stadium....would be #1 now, nothing like playoff baseball in Yankee Stadium

Rose Bowl game featuring Michigan, Wimbleton, Yankee Stadium (oops, too late), an SEC night football game, a heavyweight boxing title fight, The Game @ OSU (been to 6 at home), a Knicks game at MSG, a horse race, any horse race, and a Duke vs UNC basketball game @ Duke.

My parents also go to the B1G Bball tourney every year for every session, that would be fun, I love tournament settings and neutral courts.

Most of all, I want to witness an Iowa vs. Iova State wrestling match where they draw 15,000-20,000 fans. Can you imagine 15,000 people yelling "TWO" during a sweet takedown? Probably only excites us wrestlers but its cool. I love attending the team state meet each year for that very reason.

There are a bunch of games I'd like to go to at least once. But there are also a bunch of games I'd like to attend again.

  • Michigan - ND UTL game.
  • Game in East Lansing
  • Game in Columbus
  • OSU game in Ann Arbor
  • NCAA Michigan game
  • Rose Bowl - preferably against USC (last time I went, we lost to USC)
  • Orange Bowl - preferably NC
  • Fiesta Bowl - preferably NC
  • Cubs - White Sox World Series Game
  • Blackhawks Stanley Cup game
  • Wimbleton
  • Major soccer games in Europe, pref. in several venues
  • Home and away against a good team . . . Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, Texas, LSU, Georgia.
  • Attending a post season game where my son or daughter were actually playing (football, baseball, or soccer) and getting to cheer them on. This is still in the realm of possibility.

I checked off one last month. If you get a chance, go to Yankee stadium and get a legends suite ticket. Got mine for about $300 on stub hub. Cushioned seat behind home plate. Full 5 star buffet included. And it has everything from lobster, to filet, and prime rib. Monster dessert bar. And all food during game is included too. Hot dogs, cotton candy, etc. I felt like one of the pleasure island kids from Pinocchio I ate so much.

win college football and basketball national titles at the top.  Then The Masters, and tennis grand slam. A lot of people mentioned Olympics.  Went to 5 events in London and can say that was one of best events I have been to.  Very good chance I go to Rio.  Lots of doomsayers about Rio.  If I remember there were major concerns about security before London and it turned out all right.  Rio has several different issues to contend with but wouldn't be surprised if things turned out better than press its getting now.

Olympics and World Cups always turn out better than the press wants you to believe.

The Greece Olympics were supposed to be a disaster.  They weren't.

The China Olympics were supposed to be a disaster.  They weren't.

The South Africa World Cup was supposed to be a disaster.  It wasn't.

The Brazil World Cup was supposed to be a disaster.  It wasn't.
