OT: Worst Movie That You Ever Watched

Submitted by Santa Clause on

Simple question. What is the worst movie that you've ever seen? I nominate Howard the Duck, although the more I watch it now the more I laugh from it being so bad.

Joe vs. The Volcano was complete hot garbage. Killer Klowns was also right up there. I'd also say Transpotting was some time I'll never get back that I wish I could. Yeah, nothing is close to Joe vs. the Volcano though. I dare you to try and finish it!

This thread blows me away with people's tastes on movies.  But to each their own I guess;  apparently some people out there keep giving money to Michael Bay and Peter Jackson.

"Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin"

Trainspotting IS awesome, plus I'm going to stick up for Joe Versus the Volcano.  It's not the greatest movie, but I maintain it's the best of the movies that star Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

I have to say, I find some of the answers on this thread truly puzzling.  I get that some movies might not be a person's particular cup of tea, but you have to recognize that some films have some level of artistic merit even though the subject matter may not appeal to you in particular.

Trainspotting is full of bizarre and disturbing imagery, but it's still clearly an example of quality filmmaking.  On the other hand, a film like, say, "Leprechaun" is just trash.

Zoolander 2. 10 minutes in i realized this was a huge mistake. I left thinking, maybe its one of those movies that get better everytime you rewatch it, but i'll never know. Awful and 15 years too late.

I can't believe this post has not been riddled with this horribly shitty movie. When I read the thread title, this was clearly the first movie that popped into my head. Never been more un-entertained in my life.

I will echo any Cable Guy nominations already put forward, or suggest it here for the first time if no one has mentioned it yet.

The "Ted" series. Any funny line was wasted in previews, when it came to actually watching the movie I was disappointed in the first and turned off the second.

Wanted to see this "lost" film for years. Once I did, wanted it to get lost again. Terrible! But, the book it was based on was great!

Holy crap this is two hours of my life I will never get back, horrible movie. Back in the day I watche a movie called "Don't Go in the Woods Alone" Look like two guys filmed it over a weekend with a hand held camera and no script.....

I also would add "The Road" to this.....

Objectively terrible:

- St. Elmo's Fire: awesome sound track, ambitious subject (all that emotional s__t you experience the first year after graduating from college), and the most ham-handed, manipulative execution of a concept I've ever seen.  Some of the stuff listed below, you know what's coming and you set your expectations.  This movie had so very, very far to fall before it went splat on the pavement.

Crap that some people like but I just don't get:

- Mafia movies.  These people are thugs.  What could possibly make them interesting?

- Adam Sandler.  I find his gross out "humor" obvious and unimaginative.

- The undead.  Mass zombie attacks are so preposterous that I have no interest.  Natural disadsters or heck even alien invasions are more plausible.  On a different front of terrible, vampire movies are the newer, high-brow version of the teen/high school sexploitation films of my youth, just without the nudity.

- Life action versions of comic book heroes.  The early ones were OK.  Lately, it's one after another after another forgettable sequel, prequel, adaptation or reboot.  It's like the concepts of original stories or characters are on strike.

- People who drone on and on about inside Hollywood concepts like "cinematography" or "production values" or spending gobs of money on "authentic" irrelevant details.  Tell a good story, and the rest takes care of itself.  The ancient Greeks invented live drama without sound or lighting systems, small casts of actors wearing masks to distinguish between the characters, and men speaking in falsetto to play the parts of women.  First things first!

Nothing could ever be worse than that.

If you have young children (mine are grown ups now), you understand.

If you don't have little kids, you'll never appreciate the pain and suffering a parent goes through and will undoubtably neg-bomb me.

Random Hearts with Harrison Ford. Only movie I have ever got up and walked out on in the theater. I can remember that souse bag snoring and snorting all through the movie. Horrible acting, terrible writing. Reminded me of someones drunk dad trying to hit on some teenage girl and looking pathetic while doing it.
