01/09/2019 - 2:57pm No I'm with you. Clemson…

No I'm with you. Clemson played their best game of the season, Alabama played their worst. It happens for a ton of different reasons and still suck for the losing side and fans.

Here's two questions I want to throw back at you: How many times does Bama beat Clemson out of 10? How many times does Michigan beat Ohio State out of 10? (for this year, obviously)

01/05/2019 - 10:39pm Denard.

Denard.

01/02/2019 - 11:48am Good point brutus.

I was…

Good point brutus.

I was talking with my dad last night during the Sugar bowl. We can watch that and be like, "Georgia is not motivated and Texas is playing like they care." But Georgia fans are probably in their own BPONE: losing to Bama isn't an excuse, can't win the big one, Fromm isn't the guy, why can't we get Mecole Hardman the ball in space, etc.

The beauty of college football is that it's a frame where it's normal and (sometimes) fun to be irrational.

01/02/2019 - 11:39am This was an awesome job by…

This was an awesome job by Chase at answering these questions. I'd love to see the video too, but he seemed really calm and understanding when they repeated a few I'm sure he didn't want to talk about. And his last words to Michigan fans was "thank you." Imagine him thanking us. We owe a lot to that kid!

On a side note, I wonder if fanbases would be more understanding if coaches were transparent about this stuff and more. I'm still down that we lost, and it will always suck for the lingering hours, but when you put in perspective the people we were missing, plus the injuries Chase talked about, it makes a lot more sense. And I'm sure there's plenty of behind-the-scene stuff that explains things w e saw that not the scapegoat/default "Harbaugh sucks" or "Don Brown is too stubborn." I'm not saying those thoughts shouldn't cross your mind in the heat of the moment, but there's plenty of things they're probably taking the fall for that have more to do with other people.

Hope this doesn't hijack the thread, but does anyone know if ESPN or any other station is doing a Signing Day full-day special like they do for the one in February?

I love it, among other things, because it's a complete disconnect for me. I am allowed to be biased, irrational, and fanatic and it's completely normal in the frame of college football.

Also, College GameDay is my favorite show on television.

12/05/2018 - 10:30am Good point. If we don't win…

Good point. If we don't win the series, it's definitely close at least. I think we win 4 out of 7 in 2016, and maybe 3 out of 7 this year.

12/04/2018 - 9:33am I want him to stay. Now they…

I want him to stay. Now they'll always be able to hold that record over our heads. Good for the B1G and good for Michigan if he stays. It makes us raise our game.

11/29/2018 - 12:21pm Expansion to 8-team playoff…

Expansion to 8-team playoff is not the answer in my opinion. Makes it a lot easier to get in. It's fine the way it is.

Less commercials?

11/26/2018 - 10:49pm I think they're the best of…

I think they're the best of the second-tier. I think their program overall is a notch below Clemson and OSU. I base this all on the eye test from the previous three or four years. Definitely up for debate though.

11/26/2018 - 9:46pm All good points my man. I…

All good points my man. I hope we all don't come off like that. I didn't know about the arrest thing, either. Surprised to see Iowa on the top of the list.

We're all just going to be miserable and jealous for the next week or so. That's how it goes around here after The Game. Then the misery fades off.

11/26/2018 - 9:41pm This is an absolutely…

This is an absolutely fantastic post. I rarely read diaries but the title caught my attention because I wrote up a post on my site about this exact topic yesterday, and sent an email to my friend as well. I agree one hundred percent and I have nothing to critique or disagree with. Literally nothing. You thought this thing through in the detail I was hoping for.

Here's my opinion on today's College Football status:

Elite

Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson

Second-tier

Oklahoma, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Georgia

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the second-tier teams. I think Michigan is clearly above State, Penn State, and Wisconsin and will be for a long time. LSU is clearly better than A&M, Florida, and Mississippi State. Sure those teams will get us from time to time, but I think this year Harbaugh and crew helped us cement our place there for a long time. This is a huge step up from before.

The other thing to think about is that teams can play good, bad, or average on any given day. In the 2016 Game, I think Michigan played average and Ohio State played a little bit below average. Last year I think Michigan played above average and Ohio State played below average.

This year Ohio State played their best game of the season and Michigan played average on D and a little above on offense. There is literally nothing we can do when an Elite team plays their best game of the year.

And this brings me to my last point. The beauty of college football is it allows us to disconnect our rational minds for 14 hours every Saturday in the fall. I am fine with our coaches and with where our program is headed, and I understand we're not an elite program. And losses still crush my soul, ruin my week, and make me wish horrible things upon college kids. We gotta love it!

11/26/2018 - 12:12pm Right on my man. I agree…

Right on my man. I agree completely. I think Michigan solidified itself as a perennial second-tier team with their performance this season. They're in a class with LSU, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Oklahoma. The problem with us is the same as LSU - we're in the same division of a program that's truly elite and has been for some time.

Bama, Clemson, and Ohio State are the three "elite" programs in college football. When they play their best game of the season, it looks like this. Michigan played average, or slightly above. OSU played up to their potential. It happens and it also blows.

11/25/2018 - 8:39pm I'm not an insider. I have…

I'm not an insider. I have no idea about practices and preparation. I just know there is no possible way it was from us "overlooking" them, or having too much confidence.

They played their best game of the year by far. We played an average game. It happens and it blows. Last year they played an average game and we were also average, maybe a bit below. Year before was average for both teams. When a team as talented as OSU plays their best game of the year, they put up 60 points, and we still put up almost 40 on them. The program will be fine. The fans (myself included) will not until we finally win one.

We win 5 out of 10 this year against them. Sucks this wasn't one of them.

11/25/2018 - 7:05pm Good post! It's perfectly…

Good post! It's perfectly possible and okay to be morally shredded after a loss with your guts and brain in a soggy mess, and still be appreciative of the season. We're probably not as good as the Penn State game, and probably not as bad as the Ohio State game.

I'm good with the staff, good with the players, good with where the program is headed, and in an absolutely miserable mood. And will be for probably another few days. That's college football: simultaneously the best and the worst thing of all time.

The 2016 game is the single most stress I've ever felt for anything in my life. Nothing was even close. We'll see what happens come Saturday. Great write-up as usual.

I am still embarrassed how impressed I was with myself.

I want Ohio State to win. I want The Game to determine who goes.

Great write up as usual

Didn't read past the first paragraph. Michigan game.

11/01/2018 - 10:48am I really think the BCS had…

I really think the BCS had it pretty close to correct. It put a ton of emphasis on a team slipping up once during the regular season (Clemson losing to like Syracuse would be a bigger deal than it is now), and it put a higher emphasis on the bowl games. Remember when the Rose Bowl was a big deal?

I wish it would not have changed but I think it would be too weird to go back now. Keep it how it is and we'll get used to it. Just find a way to either put Notre Dame in the ACC or the B1G West.

I could not disagree more. A 1 hour weather delay vs. Maryland (or whoever that was) had me ready to pull my hair out waiting for it to start. I am an addict.

He was my preseason Dark Horse to be invited to New York for the Heisman. I don't think he'll be there unless he has some monster 250+ yard games down the homestretch, but I would take him over just about any back in the country for this team.

10/22/2018 - 1:10pm No kidding. That was a tough…

No kidding. That was a tough one to see.

I was actually talking to my friend on Saturday about how cool it would be if we got to "turn off injuries" like in the video games. A fully-loaded MSU team vs. a fully-loaded Michigan team would have been even more epic than yesterday's game.

Definitely hope to see Felton Davis have a great pro career.

I need to do a better job commenting on these Opponent Watch posts. They're absolutely fantastic. I refresh all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays waiting for it. Thank you for writing these. The Alexander the Great comparison is your best since last year's Wisconsin comparison to the ski slopes.

I really do like him as a broadcaster. Kind of like Dakich how he grew on me over the years. He seemed pretty pro-Michigan. Speilman was the same way, I didn't like him much until after a few years.

Either way, I love having old school football people around still. Millen, Lou Holtz, Corso, the Mad Hatter. It's part of what keeps college football connected across older generations.

10/02/2018 - 9:15pm I agree that there can be…

I agree that there can be multiple categories. For pure nerves, the Notre Dame 2009 is the most anxiety I've ever felt for a win. For the "ulcer" category, probably 2016 Indiana. Like we were set up for the game of the century a week later, just don't blow this one!

Honestly dude. What everyone said above.  I regret to say I've always skimmed the Neck Sharpies and FFFF posts. But for some reason I read this one and it's incredibly done. Thank you for taking the time to do these. I'll be coming back for the next one!

Okay, Bowser Jr. is actually a very solid Mario Baseball player in Super Sluggers. Uncatchable star swing. Solid left-handed reliever, and usually gets drafted at a reasonable price. I prefer him over Bowser, but Bowser has been known to light up the home run column.

Keep working Ace-man! Also big ups to the entire MGoBlog staff. With the football season coming, the site overhaul, and Ace's thing, plus probably other behind the scenes stuff that might be happening we have no clue about, you guys always somehow manage to keep this thing going like it's a robot. You guys are all great!

08/01/2018 - 10:07pm I know my priorities are…

I know my priorities are mixed up, but I agree. I want to have the opportunity to beat Ohio State at their best. If he really was guilty of something along these lines, I would hope they could find a way to give him a major fine or something as long as he keeps coaching.

05/20/2018 - 8:31pm Subjectively the OP's list

Subjectively the OP's list would pass a lot of polls. Probably with Shawshank in there. As for mine:

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 2

2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt. 1

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

4. The Shawshank Redemption

5. 8 Mile

6. Saving Mr. Banks

7. Moneyball

8. The Departed

9. The Dark Knight

10. The Social Network

Categories make this difficult. Tommy Boy, Happy Gilmore, Wedding Crashers, and American Pie all are great. Then you got The Lion King, Emperor's New Groove, Mulan, Madagascar, Dispecable Me, and the rest of the animated ones.

And, of course, the Human Centipede.

03/02/2018 - 10:45pm Mo Money?

I was never into a vatiety of video games, but the few I got into I was obsessed about.

1. Pokemon

2. Mario Super Sluggers for the Nintendo Wii

3. NBA Street
