OT: Movies that you're embarrassed to admit you love.

Submitted by Michigan_Marc on
Seeing as we are all pins and needles regarding how we are going to finish up the next great class of ours and since I just got done viewing one of my all time favorite "embarrassed to admit I that I love this movie", movie. I will start. Mine is, 'A League of their Own'. *Side Note* This thread was inspired by Tom VanHaaren's unwavering devotion for the Bachelor.

Saw Clueless for the first time recently. My thought was how did Alicia Silverstone not become a total superstar after that? Funny, smart, and smoking hot. She really didn't have much of a career after. From what I gather she seems to have just wanted a normal life.

yesterday for MLK Day.  He's a HS freshman.  I'm at work and he texts me "I'm bored".  I told him to grab the iPad, put in the earbuds and watch these three movies:  Leon, the Professional, then Beautiful Girls, then Reservoir Dogs.   I walked in the house about 6:30, the kid comes over and hugs me and says "I Love You, Dude".

True story.

Really love me some Natalie Portman.

Interstellar. I'm dorky enough to get all the science they dropped and not dorky enough to be offended at the science they messed up, so I guess I'm in that sweet spot of fans who just saw a highly ambitious Christopher Nolan visual masterpiece, only to walk out to find everyone else hated it.

I saw that movie and people who like it should be embarrassed. The dude in that movie (Tommie from 3rd rock from the sun) is super annoying and whiney.   (I'm mearly validating the post you commented on, not trying to ridicule.)

Was also going to say 500 Days of Summer.  It's basically a chick-flick, but for 20-something male romantics; thus, the potentially "embarrassing" tag.  But, I love it, it has a lot of funny moments, it has a bitter sweet ending and Zooey Deschanel is Zooey Deschanel.

My go to answer used to be Mean Girls or Pitch Perfect but they went really mainstream so there is nothing embarassing about them. So, I'll say She's All That. Love it.

Why be embarrassed? Rudy is my favorite football movie.

Lots of people noting movies that are really good and popular and I don't understand why some of you fine people are saying you're embarrassed that you like them.

Good date movies that I wound up watching several times by myself later and enjoying more each time.

Love Actually is an Xmas staple in our household ( RIP Snape).

  • Simon Birch
  • The Notebook
  • Animal House
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Downton Abby
  • Terminator
  • Witness
  • Joyeaux Noel

I suppose none of these are "terrible" movies, but I can watch them again and again and again.
