Teddy Blanks has the balls to admit his error. That's better than pretty much everyone else who predicts these things.

What are you talking about? Having your error being broadcast on national television is not admitting it. "Welp, guess I was told wrong" is not admitting your error.

Wasn't Long suppose to be announcing today?
January 9th, 2016 at 4:12 PM ^
He is announcing before he goes to Italy at the end of the month. Washington visit and a Michigan in home THEN, he goes BLUE!

I just can't understand how a top TE would go to any other school with how Jim utilizes the position. Apparently that's not as big as a pull as I thought it would be. Chris Clark 2.0. How have we yet to land a top TE?

He did say the other day after reaching his decision that it was "the hardest decision" of his young life. Today he said being away from home in high school made in realize how important it was to be close to home. If he goes into the NFL he won't have a choice of where he plays so in a way he may just think he is picking his last opportunity to be close to home until he is finished with football. Can't fault the young man for that, but it seems like Harbaugh and Michigan were a strong pull for him.
January 9th, 2016 at 6:17 PM ^
Eli Manning stomped his feet and said he'd never play for the Chargers if drafted by them. He was drafted by them and as you probably know, never signed with them.
January 9th, 2016 at 6:24 PM ^
Yeah, and Eli was the #1 pick and did that. Nauta, a TE, is not going to be the #1 overall pick, and will not get to pick where he plays in the pros if he gets there.

It's not Chris Clark 2.0. Clark made the inexplicable decision of going to UCLA, which is on the complete opposite side of the country of his hometown and doesn't use TEs at all, then left and has been in limbo ever since. Nauta chose to stay close to home. A lot of kids do the same.
January 9th, 2016 at 4:33 PM ^
Home state, favorite childhood school, family lives nearby. Really not that hard to get.

My kid looked at three universities, all very good. One was 1000 miles to the east of home. Another was 1000 miles to the west of home. The third was 30 minutes from home. I didn't think it would make much difference to me. He chose the third. He's been there a year and a half. I am way happier than I thought I'd be.
January 9th, 2016 at 4:35 PM ^
Said he was nauta fraid but not buyin' it.
January 9th, 2016 at 5:39 PM ^
Isaac is that you?
January 9th, 2016 at 5:48 PM ^
at being behind Jake Butt, and competing against Khalid Hill, Ian Bunting,, Ty Wheat JR (if he stays a TE) and a 6'7" Gentry who will likely be full on beast mode TE in a year or two. Not to mention some great WR's and all the catches they'll get.
January 9th, 2016 at 4:08 PM ^
Good luck and hope he loves it there and can't fault him for staying home. From the perspective of pure footbal output and opportunity to develop, big mistake. Harbaugh loves utilizing TEs and has had an exceptional record developing them for the NFL. It's a staple of Harb-offense.
Good luck young man. You would have made a great Wolverine.

Georgia's new OC has coached 4 NFL TEs in college and was an NFL TE coach. He was the guy who coached Hunter Henry in 2013 and 2014.
Look up the answers to these questions:
1) What TEs has Harbaugh coached for more than one year who have been to the NFL.
2) What is the most receptions a TE had in a season during Harbaugh's time in Stanford.
Not knocking Harbaugh at all, because he uses TEs well, but the echo chamber is starting to mythologize Harbaugh's TE usage/development.
January 9th, 2016 at 5:21 PM ^
Yeah, it's not like our TE was an All American or anything. What does it matter how long Harbaugh coached them for? If Rudock gets drafted does Harbaugh not get credit because he only coached him for 1 year? Does Harbaugh not get credit for turning AJ Williams into a productive college player because he only coached him for 1 year? I don't understand your argument at all.
January 9th, 2016 at 4:09 PM ^
I dont get why Harbaugh is nauta great recruiter of 5-star tight ends.

He graduates first round TE's.

and then mom showed up wearing Georgia colors.

a player for wanting to stay home. Best of luck to him most of the time.

argument. The guy has been 500 miles from home in Sarasota the last year at the IMG football factory. Ann Arbor is roughly 200 miles further away in distance.
This is a business and nothing should stcream "business" to you more then the IMG factory. "Stay close to home" nostaligia I doubt have much at all to do iwith it, it's about early playing time.

So maybe, after being 500 miles away from home this year, he discovered he didnt like that, and wanted to go back closer. Crazy thought, I know. But crazy enough to be plausible.
January 9th, 2016 at 4:15 PM ^
Maybe he can get drafted by the Falcons and never have to move out of the state. Mom will be happy.
