Ohio State on lookout for QB Recruit, courting Maryland's commit Dwayne Haskins
http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2015/12/15/osu-recruiti…
Article in the Columbus Dispatch regarding Ohio State QB situation.
Summary:
> a few weeks ago their only QB commit, Tristen Wallace started waffling... and then
“Sunday night, Wallace flipped to Oregon,” said Kurelic, who covers recruiting for Bucknuts.
> OSU is showing interest in 3 star QB Thylinn Oden of Columbia, TN
> OSU's top prospect earlier in the year had been Dwayne Haskins of Potomac, Md, but he had committed to Randy Edsall and Maryland.
> OSU is working to flip Haskins.
All of this is interesting in that DJ's newest hire should help him keep Haskins, but signals are pointing to Haskins flipping to OSU. One of the two schools will be hurting for a QB. Haskins could be huge for Maryland.

Trick question. Peppers is a quarterback.

You don't think Peppers could play QB?
December 16th, 2015 at 5:05 PM ^
He DID play QB this year.
December 16th, 2015 at 4:16 PM ^
if they had 21 clones of Peppers to play every position on both sides of the ball? The simple answer is yes due to speed, strength and athleticism, but I wonder how he'd match up against opposing linemen.

Win every game? I don't know if we'd win any games if we had offensive and defensive lines composed entirely of 205-pound players.

Donald Trump is a leading candidate for president. Your claim is invalid.
Neg away, bitches. I know the rules and choose not to follow them.

Okay, I have officially been asleep for the last few days. Must find these quotes from The Donald.
EDIT: Okay, read enough. I get what he's saying, but I think I'd immediately volunteer my ballz to science if those words came out of my mouth. I'd just forfeit all usage of that region and subscribe to O Magazine.

Lou Holtz for Preshadent!

Sanders has no chance of succeeding as president. Much too genteel. He's your standard Populist rabble rouser who is more effective at presenting ideas than fulfilling them.
Trump is a Know Nothing. He's Father Coughlin with a billion dollars. Bigoted, obtuse, and perhaps a Trojan Horse sent by Hillary to disrupt and destroy the Republicans. Either way, the Republicans are a party in dire straits.

For the Buckeyes.........hope some more recruits flip.

Haskins stayed committed to Maryland because of Mike Locksley. If he's not there (which it doesn't look like he will be), Maryland doesn't have a great shot. Regardless of what Durkin does.

But I still don't think I've heard of a program keeping a coordinator for the purpose of keeping a single recruit. Maybe they can negotiate a smaller position on the staff, though.
December 16th, 2015 at 4:53 PM ^
Oh, I didn't realize he was the OC--thought he was the QB coach. Yeah, tough to risk a top QB recruit but Durkin would really need to go with his guy for a key position like OC.
Thanks for answering my question.

Locksley is supposedly getting tired of being passed over for the head job, so he may not stay long.
December 16th, 2015 at 4:07 PM ^
something tells me they will be fine. they have 3 Freshmen QBs ont he roster from last year

Someone negged me for suggesting we protect our prized QB recruit from being poached?

Peters is a pro-style QB and UM's head coach is a former NFL QB who has an excellent reputation for developing NFL QBs.

He is a much better passer than cardale, at least in recruit terms and probably a little more nimble.
December 16th, 2015 at 4:45 PM ^
Haskins is a pro-style QB... He was ranked higher than Peters until very recently.

December 16th, 2015 at 4:13 PM ^
Please let this attempt fail and leave them with a mediocre QB like they had for so many years in the good ol days.

Just peruse this list for a series of suckitude starting in about 1985:
http://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2014/10/ohio_state_bucke…
Jim Karsatos
Tom Tupa (he was a good punter. QB? Not so much.)
Greg Frey (NTGF, no wait, that's Glenn Frey, my bad.)
Kent Graham
Kirk Herbstreit - better as a commentator than a QB
Bobby Hoying
Stanley Jackson - better as a QB than a BIG Network personality, but that's not saying much
Joe Germaine - He was decent, and then we return to the suck:
Bellisari, Krenzel (his team won it all, he had very little to do with that) and Zwick. Brief interlude for Troy Smith, followed by Todd Boeckman.
December 16th, 2015 at 5:47 PM ^
Joe Bausermann.

All those years we were beating Ohio State, there was always a common factor - we had superior QB play. Until we can get back to that, we won't beat them.
Let Harbaugh bring in anybody he wants to make this happen.
