He got every ounce of basketball success he could out of his pretty average physical ability, had a ton of fun doing it, and always represented the university well.  I have no doubt that he'll have a ton of success in whatever he sets his mind to next (coaching?).

Up there with Denard and Stauskas for my favorite Michigan athlete of all time. I am glad I got to see his last game at Crisler in person. He's going to do some cool things with his life, and I'd love to see him stay with the program somehow.

Thanks, Spike.

Not many walk on, back up point guards in the country meant more to their team than Spike. This team will (and already has) miss his leadership, desire, and skill on the court.

You could tel lSpike was not 100%, but I never expected this.  Sucks for him, teh team, and my fandom.  I loved the way Spike played the game, great hustle and court saavy.  I will really miss watching him play in a Michigan unform.  Hope he gets well soon.

Sometimes, there's a man. I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about Spike here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Spike, in Ann Arbor.

His career filled with clutch moments, and I will truly miss watching him compete out there. The best of luck to him!  Thankfully he has a bright future doing whatever he wants once he that baller degree in hand.

Good luck to Spike. I hope he has a full recovery and gets to play again some day. I coach AAU basketball I use Spike as a motivation for my players. The quote, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard".. Spike is the epitome of that.

Man this really makes me sad. I will have so many fond memories of Spike! Whenever he was in the game you knew things would get settled down. Someone you could count on. He is a true leader. A Michigan Man.

A little late, but felt the need to chime in nonetheless - he was a great player! I'm sure his decision didn't come easy. Best of luck to the young man! And wherever you go, Go Blue!

Last year, before the wheels came off the bus entirely, my dad and I got front row, courtside seats next to the hoop where M was warming up pregame. Spike proceeded to drill 3 threes from the corner which made my dad laugh out loud and made me say out of reflex "God d*** Spike".

He turned around and smiled and said "Thanks, Go Blue".

I'm gonna miss the loving hell out of him.
