This was said today during the B1G conference call. Not yesterday where Harbaugh just said that next year could get interesting.
Jim Harbaugh said it's realistic to think that Jabrill Peppers could move to offense as a primary position at some point in his career.

and worms with machine guns in the other?

Then buckeyes and spartans would be scared of him
November 24th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
That was totally a wardrobe malfunction accident. She just happened to have a large piece of metal jewelry covering that particular nipple...
November 24th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
Like we all don't have a large piece of metal jewelry covering our nipples?
What? Ohhhhh, okaaaay. Sure ... I guess it's just me and Janet. If you say so. Whatever.

I for one think he should just because he could make more of an impact on the offensive side of the ball, although he is a phenomal open field tackler, he just isn't that good into coverage with technique. I think he could be a crazy good RB for us as we need a speed burner.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
think that this was covered in not one, but TWO front page posts (Monday presser and UV)
November 24th, 2015 at 4:05 PM ^
aren't that great in coverage with technique.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:24 PM ^
Yeah, and if I was taller, thinner, younger and better looking, I could be a male model.

Nope, got that covered. My new penis won a gold medal in 1976!!!

which he can excel the most at and meet the team's needs. If that's on offense, then so be it.

Harkoning back to the Mgoblog days of yore & lore...

We need him on defense, though. Only if there's someone that can step up to his level of play on defense.
This year is only the second time EVER that Michigan has had two players with double-digit PBUs.
Lewis (19) and Peppers (10). 2003 was the only other time with Markus Curry and Jeremy LeSueur both having 10.

Part of me still has fiath that Dymonte Thomas could fill in for him and live up to his hype but at this point you're probably right
November 24th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
Unfortuantely we only have Dymonte Thomas one more year thanks to one of many idiotic no-redshirts made be the last staff.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
We've only got Peppers for one more year, also, though for different reasons.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:35 PM ^
We probably only have Peppers for one more year too. So that doesn't really change things.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
He said he wants to get his degree.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:42 PM ^
He can get his degree without staying here until he gets it.
November 24th, 2015 at 4:14 PM ^
But he will miss all the good house, and frat parties, and miss being part of maize rage and miss the awesome jalapeno and bacon mac and cheese and way cool college stuff like that.

about his NFL stock. Remember he's a great football player, but his size is also a factor as I don't see him having a specific position ... ever. I think he's the best nickel back ever at Michigan ... and I think we need him free to make plays and TFL's (he's not a cornerback).
Finally, if he sees that a NC is a real possibility - I can see him coming back for 2 more years. He and Rashan !!!

IMO the only thing he is truly elite at is playing against the run or screen passes from the Nickel spot. He is a good kick returner but so are Lewis and Chesson. He is good in coverage but can be taken advantage of, he isn't at Lewis' level yet. A couple times this season he has lost track of the ball in the air and has a tendency to take too many PI calls. Now the sum of all those skills makes him a unique talent but I worry about him being good at many things but not great at anything. There is only so much practice time for him at this level. Either way he is a fun player to watch. I hope we see a pick 6 on a screen pass before he leaves.
On offense I could see him in a Reggie Bush role, especially if Smith can step it up and take on a LenDale White role. Peppers is the more versitale threat but Smith carries the bulk of the load between the tackles.
I'd prefer he focus on defense and kick returns only, but that requires other guys stepping up on offense and making plays.

you have extremely high expectations for him then.
This is his actual first year ... he is still learning to play college football. He plays with exceptional energy, is among the faster players we have and has great ball skills and an exceptional knowledge of the game. As I mentioned - he was out of his element at cornerback this last Saturday ... however, just putting him on the field as a part of the offense creates issue for the opposing team (Dantonio called 2 TO's just because they didn't know what they were going to do to defend him). He's just a player they need to account for.
Peppers has every chance to be a Wolverine legend ... especially with Harbaugh leading the team.

Don't we all have high expectations for him?
I'm just trying to be realistic about his play so far.
November 24th, 2015 at 6:32 PM ^
For all intents and purposes, a freshman. You expect a guy in his first year in the system to be Charles Woodson. That's, uh, something.
November 25th, 2015 at 11:20 AM ^
Everyone expects him to be Charles Woodson. I've just been realistic on his play so far, elite in one area, good but not great in others.
I don't expect him to be Charles Woodson on D and Reggie Bush on O. I said that I can see him playing a Reggie Bush type role if the coaches move him to offense primarily. Personally I don't think that is a good idea. I'd rather he stick to defense and returns. Remember, Woodson didn't see the field on offense until his 3rd season.

Ugh, 2003, that was a good year despite the loss to Oregon and blowing a 14 point lead at Iowa. It really fizzled out at the end though. I remember sitting there in the second quarter at the rose bowl, and watching Navarre's pass bounce off Braylons foot into a USC players hands, I knew it was gonna be a long game after that.

A lot of the seasons of Carr were what could have been.

I think people are underestimating the impact having a legitimate threat at RB would have on this offense. It's been pretty clear this entire year that our RBs are somewhere between meh and awful, and it's hurt us a lot, even if we're too used to sub-par RB production to notice. Peppers is obviously a force on defense and should be even better next year, but I don't think it's as easy of a choice as Brian and co. seem to think.
November 24th, 2015 at 3:56 PM ^
but I don't think Tyrone Wheatley could do much with our OL. They can pass protect - but they've never been good in the run scheme. I think Harbaugh does change all that through recruiting and coaching - but right now it is what it is.
Go Blue!
November 24th, 2015 at 5:14 PM ^
oh man then you never saw Tyrone Wheatley play football! I get your point though
November 24th, 2015 at 7:38 PM ^
I been in Michigan stadium since 1960 ... seen just about everyone in Maize n Blue!

Sorry hehe, Wheatley is by far my favorite and without a doubt the best RB I ever saw at U of M. The perfect mix of size, speed and strength.
