The whole idea is pretty funny when you consider that each job is independent of the others. Coaches getting fired mid-season is nothing new.

Yeah, I thought the AD literally just said yesterday that Al had until the end of the season before an evaluation would be made.
October 25th, 2015 at 8:29 PM ^
President probably told the AD, it is either him or the coach. There goes Al

was probably doing a lot of evaluating while Clemson was hanging 58 points on them.

At least "Row the Boat" would make somewhat more sense there then at Western... Row the Boat away from them Hurricanes

He would bring back the attitude Miami used to play with.
October 25th, 2015 at 6:54 PM ^
You mean he would bring thuggery back to Miami.

I don't know, should it? Other than the period from 1983 to 2001, it's not like it has a ton of history as a program. It is a smaller, private school as well. While it is in a recruiting hotbed in south Florida, it has to compete for those recruits with FSU and UF, as well as virtually every program in the country trying to poach talent from Florida. It certainly could be a powerhouse again, but I don't think it's some foregone conclusion it will, or that it's in any way inevitable. They need a slam-dunk hire. A Miami version of a Harbuagh, for instance...

Two words will give you the PERFECT FIT for this program:
Jim Tressel

I'm not sure they should be a perennial powerhouse anymore than UCF or South Florida should be a perennial power. Take away all the funny business and shennigans that took place during the 80's and 90's and Miami has been a very mediocre program.

There's not enough good ones to go around. Lots of programs are going to have to settle for sloppy seconds and give it another go in a few years.
Sure glad we're out of that mess for a while.

He coached FAU until 2011, when he retired at the age of 77. Quite impressive to be coaching at that age.

How about Jimmy Johnson?

Don't touch our Assistant coaches. Leave them alone for a couple of years so we can win a NC. All these firings are making me nervous.

Maybe Greg Schiano won't turn them down this time.

I would think our assistants are safe for now with HCs at Memphis, Houston, Temple, and Toledo ready to be poached
October 25th, 2015 at 9:22 PM ^
It would be pretty funny if Miami went after Temple's coach again.
October 26th, 2015 at 12:54 PM ^

Bo Pelini seems like the perfect fit of coach and program, right? I mean, unless Bielema could take the job, then that would be absolutely the perfect fit.
