Lewis not one of the top 25 players in B1G according to Scouts, Inc
Maybe this could be a sign he's not rating highly on prospective NFL draft boards? Or is it yet another indicator that most NFL scout types don't actually watch college football (please also see Todd McShay's predraft scouting of Mike Martin)?

And is that salsa made with Sauce Castillo?
(OK, mixing sports there... just saw the MBB poll and had hoops on my mind...)

Too small. Not fast enough. Bad technique. Needs another year at Michigan to clean it all up.

I think I am the only one on this board who sees these jokes as poor form. And I'm proud of that.
Lewis looks like he's too good for a college field right now. If he loves being here and wants a degree, more power to him. But the guy plays a dangerous sport and he's from freaking Detroit. A bunch of dudes with a probable median of upper middle class rooting against him choosing to get paid when he wants to for their own selfish reasons is gross.
We should be thinking more about this year and than next year anyway. The rewards in front of us could be pretty damn awesome.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:29 AM ^
But hope he stays.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:34 AM ^
I think most people making this joke agree with you on all of this. If he gets a first round draft grade, almost no one around here will fault him for going, and will cheer him in the NFL. It's just some harmless fun. We all want Lewis to succeed personally as well as for M.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:41 AM ^
You are probably right. I just can't find it in me to be flippant about topics with clear socioeconomic components, though.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:55 AM ^
Right, because not completing your college degree is always the correct decision.
I can see where you're coming from, but you're taking it to a place it doesn't need to go.
October 15th, 2015 at 12:15 PM ^
I'm sorry, but how is the socioeconomic component not a place it should go? Because it's unpleasant for some people to think about?

I don't see any outrage. I see lucid and critical thinking.
He's got a fair point.

Ronnie Kaye may have a decent point, but his incessant finger-wagging is a beyond tiresome.

The butt of the joke being the vicarious absurd selfishness expressed in a joke that 95% of the readers recognize as not being literal.
These jokes are actually compliments, meaning "He's really good...If I were humorously incredibly selfish, I'd hold him back from the NFL and keep him on Michigan for another year."
Are you really concerned about Jourdan, or do you just see him as an opportunity to push your agenda, damn the reality?

Not completing your degree sometimes is the right decision. Get your degree so you can bank that $70k a year job, or make 30 years worth of money in 2. If you grade as a person who will get drafted in rounds 1-3 how can you stay? Even if you are from a comfertable family, leaving that kind of cheese on the table doesn't make sense.
October 15th, 2015 at 2:54 PM ^
heard that you can make $20,000 a month, working only 3-4 hours a day from your computer. Let me search for the link I was sent, and we can forward it to him in case things don't work out.

I hate when people use the outlier as the rule, but it is part of the "American Dream" fiction. Yes, quit college without your degree, because Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg did it, and look how great that turned out!!! For every Gates and Zuckerberg, there are 100,000 people who didn't finish college and regret it and have been negative impacted financially.
Plus, and maybe more importantly, Gates and Zuckerberg weren't in a profession where one bad afternoon - one guy rolling on your ankle, one guy targeting your head, one uneven piece of turf, etc. - can end your career forever. Lewis is.
Having said all that, if Lewis gets a 1-3 round grade, he should absolutely go. Things don't work out in the NFL, he can come back and finish his degree. He will also always have the Michigan network, which works out quite nicely for former players who don't make the league...

Lighten up, Francis.

We are random internet message board posters that Jourdan almost certainly won't be reading or listening to. Urging him to stay is a way that we celebrate his talents.
If we were people with actual influence in Jourdan's life, then I would agree that this would be in poor form. As is it is completely harmless and plenty of fun.

Uhhhhhh I guess this is an informative title but why not just say "Scout releases top 25 player list in B16"
Edit: seeing those dinosaur ribs but not eating them makes me grumpy
October 15th, 2015 at 10:44 AM ^
Mainly because I didn't really care about the top 25 list and was pointing out the lack of Lewis in said list seems to me to be the most discussion inducing aspect of the list.

October 15th, 2015 at 10:51 AM ^
I don't have insider access. Can someone tell me who they think are the top 25 players in the B10?
October 15th, 2015 at 10:58 AM ^
Admittedly, this is a list of "Who they would draft to have as a team entirely made of B1G players?", so if there were 10 DB's that were better players than the top QB, the QB would still go ahead of the 3rd or 4th ranked DB since the team needs a QB (think of it like Draftageddon). But the DB's they had ranked above Lewis were Peppers, Desmond King, Eric Murray and Vonn Bell.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:06 AM ^
All those guys are really good players. Vonn Bell still needs to be a bit more consistent, but he makes some great plays. Murray is a very good CB and King has been playing out of his mind (he, like Lewis, is essentially a guy you just no longer throw at).
Lewis is good, really good, but sometimes it's alright not to get up in arms over a slight, and other times it does the body/mind good. So keep on keepin' on, fellas (and one or two ladies that also read this stuff).
October 15th, 2015 at 11:14 AM ^
I didn't mean this as a knock on the other guys, but based on what I've seen from Lewis this year and what the advanced analysis (from Brian and PFF), Lewis is arguably the Thorpe winner and a first team AA if the season ended today. To not fit him on this list at all is lunacy.
October 15th, 2015 at 11:48 AM ^
I'd have him and King pretty close (King is honestly playing out of his mind right now); haven't seen much Murray. But King is 5'11" and 200 lb and Murray is 6'0" and 200 lbs. Lewis is (perhaps generously) 5'10" and 175 lbs.
Those guys have produced for a bit longer and been on the radar a bit longer. They also have more desired size at this point. Lewis is a great player at the college level right now, perhaps one of the best in college football probably outside Hargreaves, but there are some concerns transitioning to the next level that some scouts may knock him for. That doesn't diminish anything he's done so far.
While I think he's playing like a top B1G CB, and while I think he's very good, I don't think it's any more crazy to have him on the list as off the list. Both would be understandable and have an argument to make, IMO.
