Brohm is doing great things

Brohm is doing great things at Purdue, and I anticipate being nervous about playing them...in a few years.

I don't see how a Purdue level O line keeps their QB clean in this one. I'm sure they will hit a couple of big plays, probably targetting their TEs vs McCray, but I don't think they move the ball consistently. Gary, Hurst, and Winovich will be too much for their O line in my opinion and I think they'll have to get the ball out too quickly to consistenly gash us. We'll see, though. It will certainly be the first true test for the young defensive backs.

Great information!

But my number one thought going through this is whyyyyyyyy would any highly rated receiver ever go to LSU? What a waste of a crazy amount of talent.

Let's compare viewership

Let's compare viewership numbers of League of Legends to some other sports:

2016 league world championship had peak concurrent viewership of 14.7M and 43M unique viewers:

http://www.lolesports.com/en_US/articles/2016-league-legends-world-cham…

Here is the history of the frozen four title game viewership, highest was 717K in 2014:

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2016/4/12/11415322/2016-frozen-four-tv-…

That was just college sports. Let's compare to professional. 2016 NHL finals averaged about 4M viewers per game.

I think it is wise to try to tap into that viewership market, personally. Hardly a sign of desperation.

Juicing would not make that

Juicing would not make that much of a difference in tennis to be honest. Raw strength just doesn't make all that much difference.

Even if she was (and she's not) she would still be the best women's tennis player of the last decade by an incredible margin.

How are we so sure he was

How are we so sure he was wrong? Maybe he, along with all of michigan's coaches, expected Wilson to be blue and he surprised them all? umbig11 has been right too often to let a couple of recruiting misses make him uncredible.

To my untrained eye, the Brad

To my untrained eye, the Brad Hawkins highlight video is one of the best I've ever seen. I think if he was in regular high school this year with more scouting he'd be a consensus 5-star. I'm sure competition caveats apply but look at his leaping ability and the height at which he is making the catch. That kind of ability applies no matter the competition level.

I'm going out on a huge limb here but I'm going to predict he is our #1 receiver next year assuming he is on campus on time and playing. Call me crazy but he really looks that good to me.

I'd imagine this would be a

I'd imagine this would be a hard UFR to get through due to sheer boredom and irrelevancy towards performance against still-breathing opposition.

The defensive UFR will be even worse: "UM dlineman bursts into backfield as though Rutgers Oline is no more substantive and a hologram. Here have a +2 or +3 or whatever."

Jabrill desperately lobbying

Jabrill desperately lobbying Harbaugh for a rekick was my favorite moment of the game, really glad that made it in here.

Heck, I felt the same way. Every time Jabrill fields a punt I get an electric jolt of anticipation about what he is going to do next.

Check out onthebanks.com for the SB Rutgers blog. For the most part they realize they gonna die.

I'm very surprised Peppers

I'm very surprised Peppers played all 53 snaps on defense. Seems like the perfect game to limit his snaps on defense and give him some more time on offense given the struggle to score points and Wisconsin's offensive style.

I think it gives some insight into the Don Brown philosophy. His approach to small quick linebackers is not just a spread counter thing but truly his preferred defense against all types of offense.

Take your inspiration from

Take your inspiration from Harbaugh and go OMG shirtless.

Also imagine that Harbaugh is looking over your shoulder telling you to lift (or run or whatever you do) with an enthusiam unknown to mankind. You will have the best workout of your life.

My wife and I had our

My wife and I had our reception in the lobby of the power center and it was a wonderful location, but you can't have any alcohol. We didn't realize that until we were already booked, but it was still pretty nice.

Thanks for the update, I

Thanks for the update, I appreciate you writing it up here.

It is a bit of a tangent but I think the 225 for reps at bench is a dumb test for the lineman. At the number of reps the guys are able to do, it has a strong endurance aspect rather than strength. I know those two concepts are somewhat related here (I'm sure a guy with a 400lb bench can almost always rep more than a guy with a 300 bench) but I don't think there is that much significance to being able to bench 225 30 times versus 35 times.

I think for lineman I think they should test for reps at a much higher weight. Maybe 315 or something like that. I'd bet that Henry would test better in an absolute test of strength as opposed to a rep contest.

I feel like it took the

I feel like it took the hatter a week or two to find the line between funny and poor taste. I mostly find him (her? no obviously a him) funny these days.

Hypothetical: who would win a

Hypothetical: who would win a team of 11 Rashan Gary(s) or a team of 11 Jabrill Peppers? I am shocked that it has taken us this long to discuss this important question.

Wow, lots of stuff going on.

Wow, lots of stuff going on. I always try to keep my distance from recruiting because you never want your happiness tied to the whims of 18 year olds so I...WTF WHY IS RASHAN GARY'S LAST VISIT TO F***ING CLEMSON!?!?!?! I READ ON AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD THAT GARY WORE ORANGE SOCKS TO MATH CLASS LAST THRUSDAY. PLZ EXCUSE WHILE I CUT MYSELF AND OFFER RITUALISTIC SACRIFICES TO PAGAN GODS TO BRING GARY TO MICHIGAN.

Ahem, yeah. That crootin, always so interesting.

You deserve all the upvotes.

You deserve all the upvotes. Luckily you just spammed a bunch of posts in a row so that makes it very easy.

My favorite part is at the

My favorite part is at the 7:13 mark where instead of highlighting him, they highlight the poor sap on the other team who he is about to bulldoze.

If I recall his tape wasn't

If I recall his tape wasn't the most impressive (I haven't watched it since his commitment), but I thought his track verified speed and crazy stats suggested he was a pretty good player. I know it is against bad competition but still.

Oh well, really hope this one doesn't haunt us. We don't exactly have the best track record of picking RBs over Indiana.

I was accepted to UofM my

I was accepted to UofM my junior year and due to life circumstances had pretty bad grades my senior year. I want to say somewhere in the C to B- range.

I got a notice from UofM that they were considering pulling my acceptance pending an explanation for the grade drop.

I ended up getting in because I had an obvious reason for why my grades suffered, but this is a long way of agreeing with you that UofM does indeed pull acceptance at the last freaking minute (this was like a month before I was set to go to school or something like that) for merely bad performance in your senior year (not flunking).

He's got almost 8k points so

He's got almost 8k points so it is unlikely he has been a hidden OSU fan all this time. Rather, I think he is terrible at interpreting recruiting prowess.

I find your lack of

I find your lack of interest...disturbing.

Were you born 6 years ago? If

Were you born 6 years ago? If so this perspective makes sense. Otherwise you are commenting on a strong 6-year run that does not guarantee long term success.

It was just a skill set

It was just a skill set comparison. If I had to compare him to a player in all aspects I would probably choose Jerry Rice.

Steve Smith also immediately

Steve Smith also immediately jumped to my mind after watching his tape. Obviously that would be the high end of his potential but that reminds me of his skillset.

No joke, pretty obvious why

No joke, pretty obvious why this guy is exploding.

I wouldn't say he is a burner which is probably why some of the sites are overlooking him, but he has amazing hands and really impressive strength and after-the-catch running ability.

Ah, yes. Jabrill is now

Ah, yes. Jabrill is now beholden to all of us (the Michigan fan base) because of his prodigious talent. "Selfish" for risking our happiness over his own personal issue.

What a load of bullshit. Jabrill owes us nothing. I hope he makes wise decisions for his own sake, not due to some perceived obligation to people who have done literally nothing for him.

Proper aggregation of

Proper aggregation of internet rumors presented in context (strength of the source/credibility) is an extremely valuable service and one that many people can't do on their own very well. So yeah, well done.

Given Harbaugh's history of

Given Harbaugh's history of trying players out at any and every position, I don't see why anyone would assume he would be assigned a position right away with no chance to move.

As much as I am hyped about Peters, I think in the long run Harbaugh will be looking for someone more mobile (in general). Of course if a guy like Peters is available you take him but I think we haven't seen the end of mobile QBs at Michigan.

Stretching the defense is

Stretching the defense is about more than speed. Butt's combination of size and catching ability make for a lot of bad matchups with safeties and linebackers.

I mean, I am not doom and gloom about this. We will indeed be fine without him. I just think we need to be honest that losing Jake would definitely be a hit to our offense.

I don't understand this

I don't understand this sentiment at all. Who has shown the ability to stretch the defense from the tight end spot outside of Jake? We have a few maybes (Bunting, Wheatley, not really Hill since he is more of a pure H back imo), but that is purely conjecture as we have almost nothing to go on for those players. Personally I don't think anyone currently on the roster can replicate Jake's role in the offense.

Why does it mean he is gone?

Why does it mean he is gone? Can't it mean exactly what he said, that he hasn't decided and it depends on his draft grade/Harbaugh's input. I don't see why he would lie about it.

I think in an interview Gary

I think in an interview Gary said he was about 285 right now, so I think we can have a pretty good idea how big he will be.

"Only gets yardage off of

"Only gets yardage off of gimmicks"

Brady Hoke and co. have brainwashed you into thinking that good play design and misdirection is somehow a football sin.

All good teams score points with offensive wrinkles and unexpected plays, that is part of what makes them a good team.

I guarantee he does not run a

I guarantee he does not run a sub 10s 100m. That would make him the fastest player in college football. Not saying he isn't fast but let's be real.

The i and b bracketing john

The i and b bracketing john is quite fetching I must say.

I don't understand, why is QB

I don't understand, why is QB development behind Rudock and looking to add an accomplished QB transfer mutually exclusive events?

Like, what if O'Korn really is the best QB on the roster right now and coming along nicely but we had the chance to have Tom Brady for one year, wouldn't you still take it?

I say bring on all the QBs and let the best man win!

I checked out theonlycolor's

I checked out theonlycolor's game preview, which I thought was fair enough overall. The one area where I think he is dead wrong is special teams. His analysis was (paraphrasing) "MSU has been bad but those mistakes are fixable. UM is only middle of the road. This will be an asset."

Aside from the obvious logical fallacy of assuming their terrible special teams will be fixed in one week, I think he is vastly underestimating UM's improvement in that area.

It doesn't bother me at all

It doesn't bother me at all when Steele or anyone else predicts a Sparty win. Whatever, you are all entitled to your own opinions.

But only if they acknowledge that their prediction flies in the face of all reasonable expectation based on the way the two teams have played this year. I mean, there is no way you can spin what you have seen on the field year to date to be able to expect MSU wins, just no way.

It is like if I were to predict a Michigan win in either of the last two years. Um, ok I can choose to feel that way about my team, but I would have to acknowledge that I had no basis for feeling that way other than something that hadn't manifested itself on the field that year.

I thought this piece was a

I thought this piece was a lot better personally:

We are random internet

We are random internet message board posters that Jourdan almost certainly won't be reading or listening to. Urging him to stay is a way that we celebrate his talents.

If we were people with actual influence in Jourdan's life, then I would agree that this would be in poor form. As is it is completely harmless and plenty of fun.

Agree with you both that

Agree with you both; Gardner is my pick. What is most sad to me is that I bet Gardner gets drafted as a QB with four years under Harbaugh.

I don't know about the OP,

but I personally have taken great satisfaction in absorbing the palpable fear evident on our rival's forums. I'm sorry if that is pathetic but you can't take it away from me.

Might I amend it to

Might I amend it to "Spartan's - whereas that's who"

I've been trying to keep my

I've been trying to keep my OMG stories to my friends to a minimum because they are already sick of hearing me complain about Brandon, but this is one of my go to stories. It really encapsulates Brandon's arrogance, deceitfulness, and incompetence.

To him, the story of Bo accepting the job without knowing the salary was simply another Michigan tradition to be bought and marketed.

A university programming

EDIT: started typing just before guy above posted a better account. Oops.

A university programming club wanted to put on an event in the Big House suites which is called M-hacks. They invite top computer programming professionals (think Google, Microsoft, etc. types) though I don't remember the details of the conference.

The athletic department told them the cost of using the Big House would be 30k plus a TBD amount (wasn't clearly explained what went into calculation of the value). The club agreed, raised the money through donors, and put on what sounded like a fantastic conference that was good for the university.

They get the bill and the TBD amount which they anticipated would be nominal fees was actually an additional 60K (for a total cost of over 90K for the whole event). College of Engineering ended up having to foot the bill since the club couldn't pay.

That story also stuck out to me. Anyone who maybe was thinking that Brandon was purely inept and not amoral, go reread that story. Guy clearly didn't have the interests of the university in mind.

Pretty soon everyone will

Pretty soon everyone will inexplicably start calling him Petters and then everyone on MGoBlog will yell at you that it is Peters and then he will have a memorable name. Problem solved.

My poor poor F5 key.

My poor poor F5 key.

Early in the Hoke years I

Early in the Hoke years I thought he was just playing it close to the chest with his pressers. You know, generic coach speak about toughness to avoid giving any actual information about the game. Seemed silly but alright.

Then later in the Hoke years I had a growing suspicion that generic coach speak about toughness really was the extent of his coaching ability and his pressers were actually a horrifying reality of the way our head coach teaches football.

Harbaugh's presser is a relief. He knows what is going on, he has a plan for how to fix it, and the loss clearly drives him to work even harder. I am getting a warm fuzzy that everything will be ok with Harbaugh (already had it but, well, yeah).
