Malzone and Viramontes. Having eight scholarship QBs is even dopier than having only three. It basically is saying "I'm so bad at developing QBs that I need eight really good prospects to get two or three who can do a decent job in college".

and nobody. Since I haven't called him "dopey". I only said that IF he took on even more scholarship QBs without shifting or being rid of others, that would be dopey.

because I figured it was obvious that if some of those guys transfer or change positions, there would not be a problem with overloading at QB. And the question remains, why would someone so good at developing QBs need EIGHT possibilities in order to put together a viable depth chart? Thta's what makes no sense. How many great teams (or even not so great teams) from the last 5 years can you name that had 8 QBs on scholarship?

Something tells me Town wouldn't be a fan of that depth chart.

He originally was committed to Alabama, because he did not want to play for Lane. USC was his dream school though, and when Lane was let go he switched his commitment to USC. I think he committed before USC announced who they were hiring, but I could be wrong. Maybe the new head coach isn't a guy he wants to play for either.

He in January of 2014.

Sam Darnold was the other QB in his class and he's getting a bunch of practice hype. He's obviously behind Cody Kessler (returning starter) and Max Browne (long-time understudy with high recruiting pedigree). If he's also behind a dude in his own class, I could see him looking to move on in the same way Ty Isaac did.

Ty Isaac transferred to be closer to his mother after she developed health problems.

He must think he committed to Notre Dame... then this is par for the course.

“I think he has improved immensely,” Sarkisian said. “The first two weeks I thought Jalen was doing OK. Today he performed really, really well. He thew a couple touchdown passes and is having fun playing football, which is important. It’s difficult when you’re a redshirt freshman quarterback.”
I haven't found an article that mentions the drop-dead reason, if you will, that precipated this but I would love to know because he decommitted from Alabama to do this, after all. Surely he didn't expect to barnstorm the roster and land at #1 on the depth chart right out of the gate, but I could be way off on that thought.

While it wold be great to embrace college football as "truly being about student athletes," they generate more than $1 billion but aren't allowed to take a free pizza from Pizza Bob's or whoever is popular now.
I still think the same as I have for at least ten years: let everyone's players take money from boosters instead of just the schools that are smart enough to cheat without getting caught. Imagine how many players would stay if they could take endorsements in college. Many would be worth more in endorsement money as upperclassmen at major college programs than they would as rookies in the NFL or NBA including their salaries.

There were rumors going around that Doug Nussmeier actually did offer Ricky Town after he was hired, but Borges did not offer Town. Obviously, nothing ever came of it either way.
