I dont get it at all. Nor do I get the whole "system CB" thing. Since when is playing man 95% of the time beneficial to a field corner? It's not.

Good for her! Saw her in LAX yesterday and she graciously stopped her conversation to for a reciprocal Go Blue!

How noble of our legislators to take a stand against sickening racists from the south, while simultaneously looking the other way on redlining, police brutality, and incidents such as the Algiers hotel in our state's biggest city, contributing greatly to its demise. 6 in one hand...

Known this kid a long time. Great IQ, Nice arm and very good athleticism. Was born to play QB, so as a few have already noted, yes, Gattis effect.

2 games? Ummm no. Add in FSU in the Orange Bowl, Indiana this year, OSU in the 2nd half of 2016, and Florida this year. This is becoming commonplace against good (ish?) teams. The offense needs tweaking for sure, but imo Don Browns stubbornness may be our main issue.

To come out like that vs UF after getting embarrassed by OSU, with the SAME GAMEPLAN is very troubling to me. I wonder if this is part of the reason his two main assistants left. It had to be maddening to be a position coach under rhe auspices of this caveman approach.

It's not all about 40 times at safety though. What's his shuttle? Does he have the ball skills and instincts needed to play in space at this level, let alone in the league?  Imo, no. He can play LB with improvement though I think.

OSU is due for a hiccup for sure.

I dont get the McKeon love. He is so dumpster juice to me.

09/28/2018 - 1:17am I believe the numbers on the…

I believe the numbers on the far left are run plays and their compliments. For example, a 26 would be a run by the 2 back (HB or TB generally), through the 6 hole, which is the third gap to the right of center (basically an off tackle w/a pulling G and if there is a TE, he kicks out on the EMLOS aka end man on line of scrimmage).

Conversely,  a 27 would be the same play to the other side,  except in this case, the TE would probably block down on the DE as the 2 back goes through the 8 hole and the FB leads, giving the same play a different look and to the other side. If you look just below that run you see the 28 and 29 which is probably a sweep of some sort.

To the right of the run plays are the route combinations.  For example,  366/376. The numbers are most likely based on a route tree that goes from 0 to 9 or 1 to 9. If I call a 366, one guy runs a 3 route, one runs a 6, etc.

The specific instructions next to the route combos refer to certain receivers on what could be an audible or just a wrinkle he wants to remember for the 2nd half or when the defense thinks they know what's coming, who knows? Bo knows. The X,Y,Z being the Main WR, 2nd WR, and slot or TE respectively.

I dont know what the hell that is to the right, but I believe the bottom part just lists situationals (3rd and short, GL), although Im not sure why he has replicas of the same plays down there. Maybe he wanted to sequence those situations a certain way beforehand so he's setting the defense up properly.

When you're calling plays, it's somewhat easy to lose sight of what your own tendencies are, or how obvious something may look from another's perspective,  which is the whole point, to trick the opponent. Its not hard to call your favorite play when they think you're about to call your favorite play. So you write 4 3rd down sequences, and change some plays ever so slightly, and just be the better man on others, as they probably know what's coming.

I used to have to tally certain plays or times players touched the ball, simply because in the heat of battle, it's easy to overlook these small things, and they matter. Especially at the HS level or in Bo's day, before there were 1,000 GAs in the booth looking for the tiniest shit you can imagine.

Could be wrong about all of this, but I doubt it haha!

09/22/2018 - 1:17pm These run blocking schemes…

These run blocking schemes are very impressive.

09/15/2018 - 10:55pm While I am impressed with…

While I am impressed with how Haskins is spinning it out there, I'm coming away from this game more confident that we can beat them, if of course we continue to improve on offense. I get that Urbz isn't there, but they're damn near air raid with Haskins at the helm.

Haskins is only sort of mobile and not dual threat, which imo should allow us to man up better on them because the extra man they gain (QB) when we're in it, isn't really dangerous at all as a runner.

This is good. It allows us to focus our backfield efforts almost completely on the RB, which could lead to us shutting the run down.  While we are of course vulnerable to slants and what not per usual ( and who will cover #21?? Kaleke? Metellus??? Lort!), I like our chances.

Their run d is also vulnerable imo. Has been for a minute now. They are super athletic, but the thing about teams like that is you can oftentimes go right at them. Which I felt we should've done the last two years against them. This is a good game though. Go Horny Toads!

06/19/2018 - 6:52pm Good write up. And call me…

Good write up. And call me biased (I'm biased), but no Frank Clark? A 2 star TE turned lone defensive bright spot at UM and NFL stud! He says and does some wild things at times, but he's really a good guy. And did I mention NFL STUD? Nitti!

Grew up with Graham and attended all three schools with him prior to college. He writes some dumb shit sometimes, but kemaaaaaahhhhn! He's a Sparty! He's also a pretty good guy and smart enough to know where his bread is buttered. I wouldn't read much more into any of this than the LSJ is his dream job and he has a family to feed. Not saying it's all bs, but again (nudges you in the ribs with my elbow) Kemaaaaaaaahhhhhhnnn!!

03/01/2018 - 7:21pm I fuck with (admire) Teske!

I fuck with (admire) Teske! But lets also take a moment to re-recognize the man who has been developing ol' Tesk...Lansing's own,a Sexton Big Red, and old school Sparty legend Stan Washington's most talented son (arguably). Coach Saddi Washington!

Wilson looked real bad imo and then BOOM, Bacari leaves, in comes Washington, and overnight DJ becomes a 1st rounder. Moe took a significant leap last year too.Theeennn Teske had me very, very worried about the future, but now...if he develops any mid-range game whatsoever, look out.

Dying to see since 97? Ehhh idk about that.

01/03/2018 - 9:00am It means the QB will line up

It means the QB will line up a couple of yards behind center (similar to shotgun, but closer with the RB mostly behind him)and more triple options, veer concepts, and RPOs (run pass options). Its spready yet still a run first scheme. Most of the time. In SF it was.

Good for Coach Edwards and ASU! Who the hell do they think you're going to get anyway? Look ASU, Scott Frost aint walkin through that door. You're MSU circa 1986, be happy you got someone with NFL chops that will be able to recruit and probably beat Rich Rod. You're Arizona State, wtf.

That's what I told the devil mascot guy on our phone convo the other day. I also told him not to get caught up in silly sound bites and subpar records that lack context. He's a good, not great coach. Congrats!

He'll be fine. JOK will be loved once we look back. Kind of like an incompetent president that clearly meant well (who tf is that?lol) . He got to play in The Game, he got back at his old coach, he started a few games in the Big House, played in Jerryworld, and if I'm not mistaken, he'll leave A2 with two degrees. Buck up, all is not lost. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the sidelines somewhere a few years from now.

11/27/2017 - 5:08pm Playing Man in its many forms...

UPSIDES
+harder to complete passes. QB has to be more accurate. See Haskins on 3rd and 13.
+QB should have less time to throw, as receivers need to get open or throw early, with DL and maybe a blitz coming for blood, which could lead to disaster if the safeties play it right. See Metellus' drop.
+Easier for your players to just play and not think. Practice technique and not Xs and Os as much. See freshmen studs we have now.
+Thee most stifling, frustrating scheme to deal with when things are clicking imo. We're getting there. Unfortunately, you cant teach 1st rd NFL lock down corners, and to a lesser degree safeties, how to handle the fire by putting them in zone every time shit gets thick as college underclassmen.
+MOAR blitzing!

Of course there are others..

DOWNSIDES
-Harder to stay with your man. #obvi
-players' backs turned chasing their man, no eyes on the running QB. See JT's first TD and many others over the years.
-Mismatches/easier to scheme for. Safeties on slots, LBs on RBs, etc. See every loss this year.

And others here too...

11/24/2017 - 7:31pm Arizona, yes please. U Dubb

Arizona, yes please. U Dubb or Stanford, no thanks.

If we lose to Stanford, which (even with BP in there) is a 50/50 proposition imo, we'll never hear the end of that either. As far as Washington goes, I dont love that matchup for us. That Arizona offense is gimmicky and possibly soft.

I feel like Brown and our d may just beat up on them and our offense may find some much needed confidence. We can run the ball on Arizona. Washington? Idk , a bit I suppose. Stanford? Probably, but that will be a wacky one. We don't do well in wacky ones.

11/23/2017 - 5:12pm Robinson guarding 2s? No

Robinson guarding 2s? No thanks.

11/23/2017 - 4:57pm Slide Mo over to the 4?

Slide Mo over to the 4? Maybe. Who can hold down the backup center position though? This seems to be common, two good bigs, but no one to back both of them up. DJ boned us lol. Can Livers do it yet? Ehhh idk.

I like Brooks better than X or Z or whatevs. But like someone said above, very small sample size.

11/20/2017 - 12:23pm Distance ourselves. Lmao.

I wouldn't go as far as saying he should go to Nebraska. But surely staying at UCF for longer than another year or two isn't an option right? I mean, its not happening imo.

FWIW my older brother played for him at GVSU as did a family friend right before he went to CMU. They both loved him. Shrugs

11/06/2017 - 6:11pm From what I saw, we dropped

From what I saw, we dropped into zone a little bit more and he sent Hudson off of the edge more, whereas we usually like to send Bush through the A or B gap. Which to me had almost gotten stale because opponents were simply pinching the line to neutralize the smaller Bush, and sending a slot or a TE in the vacant area, which our safeties were understandably having hell covering in the man scheme.

SN:I've been begging the TV for DB to swap Bush and McCrays positions so Bush can plsy from the outside in and blitz McCray through the A or B instead, where his big body can cause problems and free up Mo and other dlinemen. When we send Bush through there, he has to almost get through unimpeded to impact the play. It also takes him out of the play horizontally, which is his wheelhouse.

Anyway, I like what DB did these last couple of games, as it causes the offense to either keep that back in pass pro, move a TE over to Hudson's side (ensuring a 3 man route most times), or leave that tackle alone to be exploited.

The good news for us imo, is this is a late look we're giving teams, who will now be forced to prepare for both looks, Bush in space/Hudson off the edge OR Bush through the A or B and Hudson in space. It also bodes well for stopping the inside and outside zone read that O. State depends so heavily upon.

Thought I saw Filagia in the game for a play or two when Big Mike went down.

10/29/2017 - 2:12am Not to call Harbz a liar, but

Not to call Harbz a liar, but don't read into that quote. His response to the question is pure mularkey and you wanna know why? I'll tell you why!

He's not going to explicitly tell you who's calling the plays because he's smart enough to know why you want to know. Ya know?

No competent manager of men would tell millions of people that his underling dropped the ball, and because of that we're fucked.

He would publicly take the fall for letting him drop the it, and then chew said underlings ass (in whatever manner he does), and tell him to get his ass back on the sidelines!! A Michigan man indeed!

10/23/2017 - 7:45pm Why wouldn't he be? He didn't

Why wouldn't he be? He didn't play bad. The defensive gameplan was terrible, we were outmatched talent/experience wise, and the o-line was atrocious. JOK deserves to start right now.

10/12/2017 - 5:19pm I sometimes have my DBs do

I sometimes have my DBs do boxing training in the offseason to improve the "violence" in their hands as I like to call it. But I don't see the point in having someone practice NOT committing a penalty, aside from maybe punt or FG block plays. You obviously don't want them holding but imo, if theyre using their eyes, hands, and feet properly, they won't need to hold. Those three have to work in conjunction with one another, otherwise you better hold or interfere or SOMETHING! Just don't let him catch my ball! Now..on the line!

09/25/2017 - 10:30am Rashan reminds me of the

Rashan reminds me of the homie Frank Clark in that his college stats may not overwhelm due to the constant double teaming and game planning for him. Will likely be "better" in the league than here. He's also similar to Frank in that he's kind of a DT stuck in a DE's body. Violent hands, a devastating bull rush, etc. Didn't he play DT in high school? Frank plays a lot of DT for Seattle right now and is thriving there, after a couple of seasons of underachieving here stat wise. Just an observation.

09/25/2017 - 10:24am Don't forget about the part

Don't forget about the part where he called our QB Wilton Spite.

09/19/2017 - 6:41pm As an inner city HS coach, my

As an inner city HS coach, my opinion is as follows. The Jordan brand has perception issues, and I feel like we were almost duped into helping MJ and Nike fix them.

The widespread perception, accurate or not, is that "J's" (retro shoes, etc., the lifeblood of the brand) are different than Jumpman brand shoes and gear. And when you look at the cleats we wear, and the Jumpmans sold at Foot Locker, on Eastbay, etc., you can see why.

In my opinion Jumpmans are ugly as shit, I'm sorry. And nearly every kid that I know feels the same way. My adolescent sons will not wear them at all. Why dont we wear the retro Jordans with UM colors?? Big mistake imo.

I feel like Jumpman won big with us because theyve learned people aren't rushing to cop those ugly ass shoes like ppl did with Js over the decades, particularly young people and the trendsetters/sneakerheads that the brand has always depended on.

Which is probably why they're so much cheaper than the "real Jordans" and why Nike was so set on us wearing Jumpmans instead.
