Something may be going down...

Last night at 11:30 pm, Richard Retyi, UMHS brand manager sent an email to all UMHS marketing personnel that in the next 24-48 hours, a major story would break at one of "UM's main rivals". Staff are directed to be professional in social media and refrain from being rude. I am wondering if that would be the OSU nazi band, but that seems pretty small stuff. Maybe something big comes down at the end of the day.

The weirdest part of that is that Waters has stated in a couple interviews that he, in fact, was the reformer or at least he was making some attempt to reform the culture of the band. Of course, we see how that turned out, but him saying that makes me think, "If he's the reformer, I'd hate to see what the band was like before he came along. Yikes."

There are some very deep-rooted cultural flaws within the OSU Band.  The arrogance of the band alumni is huge in this story as they do not think some these behaviors (getting students drunk, sexual harassment, etc.) are wrong.  The OSU band alumni needs to back away from contacting the students and just buy football tickets and show up for homecoming.

I know there are continued Federal investions into the Seond Mile foundation Sandusky was the figurehead for.  And there are still ongoing trials from some of the administrators.  I know the UMHS had some issues with an employee and Child Porn a few years ago.  I'm just trying to think why the Hospital folks would be given a heads up, not trying to equate the issues or throw mud.

in my area, there are 2 main hospitals (and 3-4 other small systems). The doctors have serious non-competes and really dislike each other. Basically, if a patient goes to one, the other is out cash money and that is serious!

Since Michigan is a major research hospital, my guess is they view their rivals as other large research institutions as opposed to local systems.

I heard St. Joseph Mercy suspended four doctors for prescribing medical marijuana. They are going to miss the seaon opening softball game against the Detroit Medical Center

Well .... UMHS is plastered all over the 'banner' behind Coach Harbaugh and has been far more 'marketed' than it seemed it was ..

So there is that tie in between the AD and UMHS, there.

If it's news about a 'main rival' and UMHS is sending out a note like that, maybe it's just precautionary because now UMHS is a visible aspect of the MICHIGAN Brand and the AD (at events such as the BigTen Media day).

So maybe a bit more ...responsibility to behave well in light of possible news breaking than in the past??
