Would You Rather Beat MSU or OSU This Season?
Being that this is the first season under the Harbaugh regime, it would wise to temper our expectations. However, it's pretty safe money that we won't lose both games at home with Rudock under center. Assuming we beat at least one them, which one do you prefer? OSU or MSU?
Really can't answer. The thought of losing to either - is too much to bear
Both games are at home this year and to be honest, UM has looked better against OSU than MSU the last few years. I know there are no good losses and stuff, but I really don't think there is any reason to think UM can't win both, especially with everything coming together to give MSU the edge for the last four meetings.
I give MSU a ton of credit because I think they are well-coached but the amount of luck they have had over the last few years will have to run out soon. Everything from facing a weak Oregon at home this year to each limpy Cook pass that bounces off a defender's chest just tells me this streak is unsustainable. I want them to lose at least two games this year so they won't be in contention for the B1GCG and a playoff spot, but I would still rather have UM beat OSU if given the option.
You have to clean up your house before you clean up the streets. Beat MSU - own the state again. Then we can focus on beating OSU and owning the B1G. Then we go national. Of course I would prefer we do it all in one season, but that's probably asking a bit much.
OSU.
I live in Ohio and it has gotten to the point that most of the people I interact with don't even talk much trash anymore...they just kind of feel sorry for us.
I DON'T WANT YOUR FUCKING PITY I WANT A WIN!!!

The only and correct answer to this is Ohio State.
both?
Don't care, watched sex.
Beating MSU would be good for instate recruiting but in the overall picture, beating OSU will be a bigger win. LIke it or not, they are the standard right now. I believe OSU will be the new USC for Harbaugh. He understands the rivalry and will have us ready. I think that Stanford was a bigger underdog to USC than we will be to OSU so why not??
I hate these threads. It's OSU. It's always OSU. They're our rival.
MSU is NOT a rival of ours. I dont care what anybody says. Recently they have been killing us, I get that, but MSU is no rival of Michigan. They happen to be in the same state and in the same conference but they are not a rival. OSU is the rival. They win National Championships. We spoil them. We win National Championships. They spoil them. They win B1G titles. We win B1G titles. They hate us. We hate them. MSU is just happy to be here. The more this talk springs up, the more they think they are a rival. They're not.

I never said we dont need to beat them. We need to beat everyone. They are NOT a rival.
I dont care if Bo popped out of the grave and told me they were a rival. I dont see them as such. They are not a rival just because they are in our state. They are MInnesota. On their best day they are Wisconsin. To be a rival you have to be at our level. OSU is a rival. MSU is not.

The 3,000th Nike post didnt take that crown, bud? Really?
They're not our rivals?? Come on man, they're definetly our rivals!
What you just posted is what MSU uses to fuel their fire.
They need to be taken seriously as they have proven in the last 8 years now. It's an instate rivalry and it will ALWAYS be important. You can't just dismiss them.
if we lose to MSU but beat OSU this year it would be fun to put a full page ad in the paper congratulating both teams on beating their rivals this year.
Staee would be livid at the pecieved disrespect.
Im sorry but OSU every day of the week. I hate that school, I hate that fanbase, I hate everything Ohio St has to stand for. And a win would make me so happy because I can't go another 365 days withouth knowing that we've beaten THE Saftey school
not a fan of that Taylor Lewan pic.
Not his best day.

I'd love for MSU to be shut up, but being out of state I rarely interact with MSU fans so it's not a big problem for me. I imagine it's different for current Michiganders
Beating OSU is great for obvious reasons

That handshake at midfield is gonna be epic. Harbaugh's handshake with Schwartz comes to mind.
There is so much hype about Harbaugh handshakes do you really think he is going to do something silly? Impossible to live up to expectations. In 8 years of Stanford and SF he had maybe 2 of those incidents and they were spontaneous -not something a fan base discussed nearly every day as we do here. I expect little to happen, esp in light of the hype machine.
it's just that the reactions of Carroll and Schwartz were priceless. Harbaugh knows that no player, or coach, is more important than the team.

MSU! I have tickets to that game and I work in an office of primarily MSU fans who have been unbearable the last 7 years. These MSU fans are also incredibly annoying individuals outside of their fandom, so it makes it even worse. Going to the game & being able to rub it in their face would be glorious.
However, beating OSU would be amazing, considering they're such heavy pre-season favorites.
OSU would mean more nationally while beating MSU would not move the national meter much but mean a lot to in state fans who suffer in misery in state.
But someone else said it best - it feels better to beat OSU and worse to lose to MSU. Your expectation is to beat MSU - your expectation is to split 50/50 with OSU.
Also whatever you feel I always recommend writing OSU in these type of threads because it just kills MSU fans when they see us not put them on the same level. Currently that insecurity is a bit down lower than normal because of the on field results but nothing grinds o them more then seeing a thread like this full of OSU answers.
I think deep down, MSU holds a baked-in inferiority complex with us that allows them to process a loss much easier. Likewise, because of history, I'm inclined to be less satisfied with a win against MSU. I can't begin to describe the intensity beating or losing to OSU through the years.
Last year we didn't go to a bowl, so I don't think that beating at least one top 10 team is pretty safe money. With that said, I would rather beat MSU. Their fans are insufferable. Maybe that will change for me now that I live in Ohio.
Ohio State and it isn't close, in my opinion. To me, growing up the order of games that you wanted each year went like this - Ohio State, Notre Dame (when we played them) and then Michigan State. Without ND as part of the mix now, they merely (and correctly) are deleted and the remaining teams stand as they are.
