I want to say games start at $10 or $15, cheaper if you have a group.
|07/18/2018 - 11:12am||They can't fill up the lower…||
They can't fill up the lower level seats that they have now. If they can't fill up what they currently have downstairs, how do you justify that if there are more seats available to them courtisde that more would come?
|07/17/2018 - 3:54pm||I've seen a few times last…||
I've seen a few times last year where team members would hand out tickets to people upstairs to move in the student seats because they weren't filled when the game started.
|07/17/2018 - 3:53pm||I think you missed the point…||
I think you missed the point -
The students don't fill the LOWER LEVEL seats for most games - the ones that everybody wants to have. So why would the AD give them more seats downstairs?
If they are comfortable with having empty seats downstairs, which they appear to be, I think they've made it clear that they would rather have the donor who may pay $2K+ for their seats rather than a student who pays $175.

If the Maize Rage can't fill up their seats they already have, how do you justify giving them more?
|07/17/2018 - 2:05pm||Discussed this on a few…||
Discussed this on a few boards last year, but the AD reports student numbers here. While I agree the atmosphere could (and should) be better, I'm sure they have a hard time justifying adding more student seats downstairs when they don't fill the seats that they currently have.
It looks like 10 of the 17 games last year failed to have 653 student season ticket holders attend, which is capacity for downstairs.
There needs to be some type of solution to get a better atmosphere, but I have a hard time selling this one.
I also heard from a family friend who has a freshman this year say that they were on the wait list for basketball season tickets.

I don’t know that it’s an issue (yet) here. They aren’t letting season ticket holders add seats during the upgrade process so they’re clearly close to the maximum number of season tickets they feel comfortable with.

I checked with the ticket office. They said they would take care of this and send over any changes.

Should clarify: $385 is the price for all three games. Nothing of seat location was mentioned in the email.

Tickets are $385 through the department. We’re available until 12pm to request for season ticket holders.
|01/31/2018 - 12:04pm||Looked into going to a couple||
Looked into going to a couple of road games this year instead of the conference tournament.
Maryland is $60 for nosebleeds in the upper level. Penn State is the other one I looked at (and purchased tickets for) and they were much more affordable. $15-$20 lower level and they have a lot of tickets available.
|01/31/2018 - 6:41am||I’ve posted a link for a few||
I’ve posted a link for a few times for student attendance in this thread that the department posts.
2,055 season ticket holders and there have only been a couple of games where more than 1,000 have shown up.
I would argue that the claim process is doing its job otherwise there would be 1,000 empty seats at each game.
|01/30/2018 - 5:51pm||If I'm looking at the student||
If I'm looking at the student page correctly with that number, students have filled up the downstairs only 5 of 13 games (data for Northwestern not updated yet). There's 2,055 season ticket holders.... that's awful.
|01/30/2018 - 4:42pm||I would have to think that||
I would have to think that offering discounted tickets to high schools would fall under the NCAA violations.
Here's the link again to the student attendance. They even have past years posted. What in here says "we should expand to more lower level seats?"
Maybe the department needs to do a better job of informing people in the lower level that they can transfer, sell, or donate their tickets to get the downstairs filled up instead of kicking them out and replacing them with another demographic that also doesn't really show up.
|01/30/2018 - 4:07pm||So if they weren't partnered||
So if they weren't partnered with a site, people wouldn't sell tickets for profit? I don't buy that for a second.
|01/30/2018 - 4:01pm||Doesn't Purdue have all||
Doesn't Purdue have all seating behind the basket? And they have one of the better environments according to KenPom.
|01/30/2018 - 3:38pm||Lower level seats aren't||
Lower level seats aren't often available via mgoblue. In fact they don't even list lower level pricing on their website. For the last three games (Minnesota, Iowa, and Ohio State) prices are listed at $25, $20, and $30. Minnesota and Ohio State are sold out.
If you go into the event it does look like Iowa tickets are $40 for lower level seats... so there's that?
|01/30/2018 - 3:19pm||For Rutgers (and many others)||
For Rutgers (and many others) based on the numbers, they literally could have shown up at any point in the game and have gotten lower level seats.
|01/30/2018 - 2:51pm||I don't know the total number||
I don't know the total number of lower bowl seats, but attendance gets posted here:
edit: It's safe to say that 403 seats are in the bleachers by looking at the games they label as "break games". They have another section near by where the Bee-line stands. No idea how many are there.
|01/30/2018 - 2:47pm||The department...||
Actually posts student attendance numbers:
Only 512 student season ticket holders showed up for Rutgers last Sunday. I think I saw workers giving regular fans free upgrades to sit in the lower level since the students couldn't fill up the other section. It's hard for me to even make a solid argument as to why students should have more/better seats when we can't even fill the ones now.
|07/25/2017 - 3:47pm||Hard to argue it's too high||
Hard to argue it's too high if they're sold out of the lower level, right?
If somebody buys the tickets, they can do what they want with it. Sure it stinks when they don't show up, but I don't think you can boot them for not showing up?
|06/21/2017 - 10:35pm||With that many season ticket||
With that many season ticket holders I find it hard to believe there are many still available. There's no way these get to the public...

$150 was to join the season ticket holder interest list.
To be considered a donor for ticket packs, you need at least 1 priority point ($100). I made my donation this morning.

So because he didn't rip the Big Ten publically means that he's afraid of Delaney? We saw what happened the last time the conference didn't like our athletic directory (MSU/OSU same year).
He asked the greatest hockey coach in school history if he wanted to stay another year. I, personally, don't find that to be too bad.
|03/09/2017 - 8:10am||Warde has a relationship with||
Warde has a relationship with Red from his time previous at Michigan. I'm sure he asked a legend to stick around for another year (is that really that bad of an ask? I feel like anybody would have done it).
For hockey coaches, Mel does have a pretty large buyout. It appears it would have been 300K last year, down to 250K this year. In comparison, that's more than Red currently makes.

There looks to be only single seats left for Purdue, so it looks like it'll be a sellout!

I'm fairly certain the basketball staff has more to do with their scheduling than the department. There may be a couple of games that the AD wants to schedule, but it's the coaching staff scheduling a majority of the games. AD obviously has to "approve" the schedule.

They announced a sell out, so depending on how the set up is I would think anywhere from... 5-8K?
|12/22/2016 - 9:46am||1) you really think the first||
1) you really think the first thing he is going to do is fire Red? He publicly did nothing, I'm sure they've had discussions behind closed doors.
2) So what are your concrete steps, why does everything single decision or action have to be public knowledge?
4) it's pretty easy for an interim AD, and now not the AD to say these kinds of things with no repercussions. Saying Warde offered no support is probably BS. Maybe no public support, but I'm sure they reached out to the Big 10 or had separate conversations behind closed doors. Can't think of many instances where an AD publicly criticize the officiating.
So he seems a little more choice with his words than the former interim AD. Is that a bad thing?

Knowing somebody at another school, the NCAA took the attendance/seating capacity restrictions out for the first two rounds. It must have been a university decision to host at Crisler.

They've reworded it to an interest list, not a wait list. I became a new ticket holder last year and they told me since the interest list they've been able to offer tickets to everyone who joined.
My guess is this will not continue.

Have been burned by scalpers before, I recommend another option. With everything being digital, make sure a ticket is either getting transferred to you or purchase from stubhub or Michigan directly.
Bought hard season stock tickets from someone only to be denied at the gate because he transferred them to someone else. $150 down the drain.

Per the office the past few years they've been able to help everyone on the list and at least offer them seats. They said they weren't 100% sure that would be the case this year.
|05/01/2016 - 6:02pm||Nothing will be solidified||
Nothing will be solidified until you receive the tickets, and even at that point the seller can still pull back (I think) 60 days after purchase.
These are all very likely ticket holders listing their tickets prior to receiving them. Tickets usually don't get mailed out until August.

I think everyone can agree that they should be expanded into the lower bowl, this doesn't seem like a logical solution.
|01/13/2016 - 9:57am||Not sure how much room there||
Not sure how much room there is to add seats. AD has a pretty detailed attendance log of students at basketball games at mgoblue.com/students (can't link page) under the basketball header that tracks usage.
While understanding that we want more seats down low, we've only had 1 game (not including last night) that has had an over 80% scan success rate. I imagine for the talks to get serious we need to get a lot more consistent game to game. There are also far less student basketball ticket holders this year then there has been in the past.
