META: no more sexybits, please

Submitted by Brian on

Persons of MGoBlog:

Y'all gotta cut it out with the barely PG-13 bewbs stuff. (And for the rare times a woman has intrepidly posted BEEFCAKE in a thread, that too.) I've never liked it much because I think it can be offputting to women, but it wasn't something I wanted to police.

That's got to change, as Google is now actively scanning for that kind of stuff and sending me emails  like so:

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

This is a warning message to alert you that there is action required to bring your AdSense account into compliance with our AdSense program policies. We’ve provided additional details below, along with the actions to be taken on your part.

Affected website: mgoblog.com

Example page where violation occurred: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/friday-posbang-12

Action required: Please make changes to your site within 3 business days.

Current account status: Active

Violation explanation

Google ads may not be placed on pages with adult or mature content. This includes, but is not limited to, pages with images or videos containing:

  • Strategically covered nudity
  • Sheer or see-through clothing
  • Lewd or provocative poses
  • Close-ups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches

For more information about keeping your content family-safe, please review our program guidelines and these tips from the policy team.

-------------------------------------------------------

Obviously losing adsense would be a very bad thing for the viability of this site, so Kate Upton's gotta go. In the future we're going to be deleting this stuff on sight; persistent violators will get docked points.

Now if someone gets mad at Brian, they can create dummy accounts, post questionable picks and either get him in trouble with Google or make the mods clean up.  Is it possible to mass delete from a specific user?

While I am sensitive to the sexism that is embodied by this stuff, I have to say, Google is hypocritical as all hell. Nothing has brought hard-core porn to the children of America quite like Google Images. All it takes is a search for "xxx" with safe search off.

The sanctimony is pretty egregious.

You didn't care enough to do anything about this "problem" until it threatened your revenue. Enacting change in the name of Protecting and Maximizing The Dollar is typically criticized around here. That said, this change is for the better clearly

This has been protocol for as long as the blog has existed and about once a year or so, Brian or a mod has made a reminder post to try and keep the place clean. This is just the first time Google has also been part of the issue. Besides, the guy does have to support a family.

We are going to start initiating a yearly "Donation" to allow users to access new information.  Also, the more you donate, the more MgoSUPERpoints you get.  Long time members who have provided great content will not be able to keep their MgoPoints going forward, but will be able to purchase MgoSUPERpoints to remain what we call MgoSUPERusers.

The server has been maximized so now we can initiate the new pop up advertisements to remind users to make a purchase off of the MgoStore everytime you open a new thread or just every few minutes.  Hit F5 to automatically get that popup. These new pop up ads are really going to give you that WOW experience you've been asking for.  At the opening of the page, In The Big House will be run on repeat at full blast, so make sure your computer speakers are turned up.

Boring writing content will go down, because reading is for nerds and we want to maximize the experience of MgoBlog.

We've really listened to the readers of MgoBlog and decided that they don't know what they are talking about, and have no idea what they want.

* Not yet official CFO, but I'm trying to throw my name out there.  I really think Brian can maximize his revenue over the next few months, as his readership will keep coming like sheep for a short duration.

I highly suggest Brandi Chastain celebrating victory as any future triumph.  Unless that's to inappropriate as well?  If so, maybe just Denard rocking out at Crisler?

Treat Kate (and any other girl) like you would if she sat in your section at Michigan Stadium.  Don't be a weirdo.  This isn't Spartan Tailgate.

No more having to worry about pinging an internet monitor or having a boss see something suspect while perusing our favorite Michigan site. As I've always said, there's billions of nudie websites; there's one MGoBlog. Let's keep them separate.

The Team, The Team, the MGoTeam.

Dude's trying to put food on the table for his fam, employ some folks, and give us a place to vent. Don't screw it up for him or us. If you are having difficulty finding soft porn elsewhere on the Internet, well, your hand got dealt out of the shallow end of gene pool.

mgobloggers were posting bare boobs! As long as they are covered, I don't see the problem. You can see hotter babes with big boobs while walking the beaches of southern CA! Looks as if google is trying to become our big brother moral police!

Good stuff.

It seems like an almost annual occurance that Brian (or a mod) has to make a META post to remind the board not to post bewb pictures, and inevitably there's a weird juvenile meltdown from a very vocal segment of the board who seems to not understand that not everything needs to have sexy ladies pasted into it and that not every rule is some kind of assault on basic freedoms. Want bewbs? It's the internet, go find them.

I find it funny Google is putting its foot down about stuff now considering some of the sites I've been to and sense their AdSense bugs. I mean, some really messed up stuff. Like, just the most objectifying, barely legal.... You know, good call Brian.

Who negs the boss? Thats just asking for it...

This update will make perusing the site at work a little less dicey. I got really good at scrolling really fast at certain spots.

of a few bewb and ass shots now and then, I understand the concerns and shall participate in tidying up the site...not that I ever posted much stuff like that anyway.

If so, then I champion this change.  Seriously though, I do like reading Mgoblog at home which is tough with little girls running by the monitor wanting to see what daddy is looking at.
