META: Your favorite MGoBlog posters of the past
Saw an interesting exchange in the THE HARBAUGHING thread I started earlier and though i would open it up into its own thread for discussion.
Veteran members, lurkers-now-posters. Who are your favorite posters of the past? These can be guys that got banned, Bolivia'd or just stopped posting on the site and moved on with life unannounced.
If you have any old timey or famous threads from the past, post those also. I'm in the mood for a laugh and want to be entertained.
My favorite that amused me quite often was Section 1. Not sure what happened to him. Why is he my favorite?
It's easy. The 20 page Rich Rod wars he started in threads. Also his blatant stepping over the line into the No Politics zone that got others riled up.

and yeah, i'm lucky i don't make my living as a word processor somewhere b/c i'd get fired quickly.

Also '84. But grad school (MBA).
How do you know it's been a long time? When all of the buildings you had classes in have been torn down . . . and some of the buildings that replaced them have themselves been torn down and replaced.
January 6th, 2015 at 6:02 AM ^
and you got that. i have told my kids stories of my days down there and pointed to places where buildings used to be, 'see there? that 's where.....and then the house dog followed me into the accounting lecture in front of 200 students b/c somebody let him in' but it's a little abstract for them.

So let me get this straight, are you quiverfull? If so, what happened to your other account?

I was around then... I can't remember exactly when I first started lurking, but I'd guess it was sometime in 2006 or perhaps '07.
Found out about MGoBlog while visiting I Blog for Cookies or something like that. Started lurking and then joined because it was the most unique and frequently hilariously bizarre source for information about M sports I'd ever come across. Still is.

I actually remember I Blog for Cookies. There was another site at that time which had recruiting info going back to the 90's.
Speaking of obscure old sites, anyone remember AutumnThunder? He used to do some funny Bill Martin photoshops.

Many times on the Haloscan site the first commenter to a post would simply say "First!"
Very good.

What's funny is that we reminisce like old WW1 veterans, but it was only like eight years ago.

I was in during the Haloscan days, the 2006 football season was the when I stopped lurking. Those liveblogs were a lot of fun back then. Only a few dozen of us or so and Magnus always posting during halftime yelling at everyone to stop complaining and being so negative. The shadow live blogs from last season remind me a lot of days.

Yep...those were the good ol' days...

I was not around....busy with 3 little ones (I'm still upset that stay at home mom did not come with Bon Bons). Now they are in school.
Where is Voltron is Handsome? He was funny and crazy.
Also, Wolfman had a classic rant not too far back: "Does not matter here" when his original post was super long and wordy. It only lasted like 20 minutes. It was very amusing.

got the banhammer a while back I believe, just like his previous incarnations of darth wolverine, i am borg, and spock.

Took me a while to join after going to Drupal, but I continued reading anyway.
My old favorite was gsimmons85, (first name Greg, not Gene). He was a high school coach in North Carolina or somewhere and always had a lot of good analysis and perspective on stuff.
Had his own blog for a while, but he quit it.
I remember this getting posted a lot:

I believe he got a head coaching job and decided that blogging was not the best use of his time.
January 6th, 2015 at 8:50 AM ^
absolutely the best use of one's time. Especially here. Twitter, on the other hand, has far too many whack jobs.
Brian needs to take over Twitter to ban mean people.

It was a Camaro. I remember this because when you clicked over to his blog it was front and center with a caption that said IT'S MY BLOG SO YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT MY CAMARO. Don't know why but I always found it amusing.

Despite not being a prolific poster, I was actually a regular lurker during the haloscan days. Took me a couple years to finally get an account, and I still don't post much.
I feel like I've pretty much seen it all, though.

I still get the shakes when I hear that damn Peanut Butter Jelly Time ditty and think of the collapse of the RichRod era after we were so irrationally excited at the beginning of it.
We woulld never do a thing like that again, now would we?

I have an MP3 version of that West Virginia rap song from the highlight video Brian posted in RR's PiH post.
"GOT A HANDLE ON THIS STATE... ACTUALLY WE GOT TWO!"

but i feel pretty old as a lurker from about the day I hit campus with RR in '08 and rare contributor (mostly on soccer, seriously I think half of my points are from World Cup 2010) since '09

I was around in various forms for the 2007 coaching search (00goblue00 boobs never forget), joined full time here while living in London the following year. Mostly here just for the coaching search stuff at this point, but always heartened to see some of my personal favorites (BlueDurham! WolvInLA2! jmblue!) still here.

True. Great referenve. I'm not quite an original poster. But I have been here for over 6 years. So...close enough.

He drops around every now and again under his other name, but I always enjoyed Profit when he was still here.

hey remember that guy who took those pictures with mitch mcgary on his recruiting visit

I know he's not a poster, but if we could Hollowell on here so he could POST IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME, he'd be my favorite.
