If you think about it, you really couldn't script this better for Harbaugh/Michigan (OSU)

I'm kinda scared...though knowing Harbaugh went 3-1 against Carroll comforts me, but that talent is just scary on OSU. 3 fucking Qbs... and they're in the national title game... are you kidding me?!??!
I'm glad Herman is out of there. Urban Meyer is scary, the dude does not lose... gulp...
Harbaugh got some work to do!

It may be cliche, but to be the best, you have to beat the best.

i respect the hell out of urban. his system is amazing. not to diminish the accomplishments of the QBs this season, but this season has shown that urban has built a very solid program and has created an offense that is favorable for QBs.
personally, i think it also goes to show that the QB can be given too much credit sometimes. that offense clearly is built around more than just the QB. they have developed a solid O-Line as the season has went on and the RBs have been great. WRs are solid too...sometimes the QB doesnt make or break an offense. hopefully harbuagh can also build a team that isnt centered completely around QB. i think that is the best path to success.

Don't forget he did go undefeated his first year at OSU, so he's been having success since day one. I'm pretty sure Harbaugh can too.

I'm with you man...the name Harbaugh is great, but as of now it's just the name with history. What osu has done this year might be the best job or player development/coaching in recent college football history...it is scary.
January 2nd, 2015 at 2:05 AM ^
Dude took a 1-11 team that had put up two winning seasons in the ten seasons prior to his arrival and inverted its record within four years. And that was at one of the few places that are more academically restricted than Michigan. He took nobodies whose GPAs were more impressive than their 40 times and turned them into NFL prospects. And he got a 5-11 NFL team that hadn't been to the playoffs in nine years to the Super Bowl in his second season.
I don't think player development or coaching will be a problem going forward.

I would be worried if we hadn't just hired the best football coach in the country. I remember when OSU hired Urban, some of us tried to claim that Hoke was of the same caliber. Deep down, we knew it wasn't true. Now, we no longer have to watch teams like Ohio State and Alabama with the feeling that the level of success they've achieved is unattainable for Michigan. The sky's the limit.

I just finished season 3 - it was Stringer who said that to Avon. Appropriately thrown down regardless.

It is much better for the Big Ten and much better for Michigan that OSU beat Mighty Alabama tonight. Michigan will benefit from this victory as soon as they get in contention. If you are tired of the SEC slurpfest of the last eight years, you should be celebrating Alabama's demise. The SEC needed to go down. The media needs to stop giving the SEC the benefit of the doubt every time they can find an excuse to do so.
Oregon will take care of Ohio State next week.
January 2nd, 2015 at 7:43 AM ^
AND Florida State needed to go down.

Hopefully he gets motivated along with Ohio getting shellacked in their next game. If they win we'll never hear the end of it.

But one would also need to believe that an amplifier that goes to 11 is necessarily louder than one than goes to ten...

Yep, it was Ohio State. I was first really worried about them winning, then I realized that and stopped.
January 2nd, 2015 at 1:19 AM ^
Yeah because Jim is known not to be ridiculous high strung and self motivated. He didnt need this. Esp OSU . Having the top rival going for a lot of same recruits look like a boss on national tv is not good.
LETS GO FRIGGING DUCKS.

After mostly losing to OSU in The Game for the past 14 years, Michigan hires a fiery new coach in late December. In early January, Ohio State wins a national championship after going into the bowl season as an underdog w/ a young team. But the Buckeyes' 14 year run as the dominant rival in The Game is over.
Can anybody help me out? Where have I seen that before?

According to my parents, who were able to personally party like it was 1969, there are a lot of things they have mentioned that were in retrospect bad ideas, particularly if one had to go to an event of any note the next day (the 1969 Michigan-Ohio State game was the day before the wedding of my mother's brother). At least for my mother, being an alumna, it was probably worth being near dead and being in a wedding party about 24 hours later.

I'm not sure it's been aware of that the past 13.8 billion years.

OSU was natz champ in 1968.... then Bo showed up. As a Michigan fan back then this feels similar... I trust Harbaugh to take the fight to these guys big time.

don't be salty because a team tries to run up the score. this isn't peewee football. if you don't like it, play better defense

how our arch-rivals winning the National Championship is truly best for us, based an unfounded belief that fate exists, and some vague hope that Michigan can field a QB half as competent at throwing as OSU's wide receivers.

Just more of an indictment on how stupid Dave Brandon was in hiring Brady Hoke... smh.

It may help for motivation, but does Michigan/Harbaugh really need to be motiviated against Ohio State any more then they are?
The big question is recruiting. I don't know if it hurts or not . . . have we beaten out OSU recently for an Ohio recruit that they really wanted? If they want somebody from Ohio, they're going to get them. This certainly won't change now.
It may actually help a little for recruits from places like CA, TX, and FL. It makes the B1G a more interesting destination.

Guys, look at what a great team we have! And we play Notre Dame and OSU at home! Brady Hoke has never lost a home game! I hope Urban goes undefeated so his first loss is at home against Michigan!
How did that one work out?

Yes, their team speed is very good. But they also execute very well. And when they make a mistake they follow it up almost immediately with a really solid play. Rarely do they dig themselves a big hole. They're simply a well-coached football team top to bottom. It's obvious they develop their talent as well with the third string QB beating Alabama.
I am looking forward to JH vs Urban in the years to come.

Also, the fact about the B1G since Loyd does help to prove that a Michigan-level Michigan team is needed for the conference. But I like my first observation better.

You're correct, assumed he was referencing our NC in '98. Even still, the B1G doesn't NEED us to be strong to be relevant, it needs the Indiana's and Illinois' to stop being the shit shows that they are.
