This was so perfectly low budget Eastern style.
August 30th, 2014 at 10:02 PM ^
They need to do more of it because they are only up 3 on a 5-7 FCS team.
Coach Creighton trying to re-brand EMU. It looks ridiculous, but then the ridiculous is normal at Michigan State Normal College.

I had no idea that a team could have already played 12 games this season.

You take him to task for not being specific and explicitly stating what is clearly implied (5 -7 last year) and yet make the statement that you have no idea a team could have already played 12 games this year without clearly stating what type of team to which you refer. Lots of teams have played 12 games this year. The Tigers for one, is a team that has already played 12 games. In fact, they've played many more than 12.

There's no harm until ESPN posts a Keystone Cops video of the incident.

Because they don't have fancy receiver gloves.
ZING!

was impressed.
edit: its not even a real wall, whats the point?
August 30th, 2014 at 10:12 PM ^
It was just off camera, but the wall actually held the pocket long enough for a stray brick to get a screen pass off for the first down. Masonry is driving and currently at the EMU 34-yard line.
I had to chuckle at the Chaplin-esque music that ESPN chose just because it seemed to fit the moment in all of its stark lack of glory.

EMU - THE FACTORY
We all know that EMU put in a gray field and call it 'the factory'.
My first thoughts were that it was a ridiculous gimick that would fail.
I opened up espn3.com to check out the EMU vs Morgan St game after seeing that it was in the 4th qtr, under a weather delay, and a 3 pt game.
The Factory is very cool. Remember when colorizing classic black and white films became a thing? (WD please ask your parents). The films tended to still seem black and white with a smattering of color. That's what this looks like. The colors on the uniforms accent the drab field, which looks a bit like the street some of us grew up playing ball on. 'Car!' ... move to the curb.
I like it. A lot. Looks way better live during a game (on tv/internet) than just a photo of the field.

are under the impression that the wall is the only thing between them and a 2-10 season.

It's a shame that cracks don't propogate through non-joined bodies. Should've consulted Wayne State on this idea.

Fascinating. I do have to ask what a "testimate" is. Is that what they call the genitals of emus?

Groot, what gives? When did you add all these words to your previously borderline nonexistent vocabulary?

If you could clarify that with me, it would be great. And still weird. But great.

August 30th, 2014 at 10:50 PM ^
you know, if EMU decided to become FCS football and put their money into basketball, they could have a really good basketball program. If they did this a decade ago, when um was down, they could hae been a tourny team like Oakland was. Unfortunatly, this school is run by about a half dozen morons in Ypsi.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:08 PM ^
That is something they don't want to happen. EMU is third all time in MAC titles won and just won an award for best overall athletic department(academic and onfield success)in the MAC.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:32 PM ^
good point, swimming, track and field and other sports are good...but they could have de-emphasized football and became the MAC Duke. Ypsi is by in large part a commuter campus, not likely to draw kids away from CMU, WMU or Toledo for football.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
Isn't that basically what they've done? Duke fields a football team but doesn't really care about it. Ditto for EMU.

There is a Pink Floyd joke somewhere in here but it is too late for me to squirrel it out.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:52 PM ^
Next week, the stunt ends abruptly when the team captain sings Goodbye Cruel World behind the wall, then leads the team back into the tunnel.
