Here's your App St Depth Chart
Their #1 RB Marcus Cox will play according to the chart. He had a torn meniscus (right knee) that he was dealing with.

he didn't. I have man-love for Rust Cohle as much as the next guy but Cranston was spectacular. They both deserved it, but the legend of Walter White will live on for years and BC deserved to bring that one home.

their NT is listed at 330 lbs. Get ready Jack Miller, we need you to win that matchup.

Were we really expecting to have any success running up the middle against anyone?

Is it "Buh-thard", "Bee-thard", or "beat-hard". Is the H silent?

I looked at App State's roster in 2007 and saw a bunch of 250-lb defensive lineman. I figured we would bowl them over all day.

We lost that game, but not because we didn't run all over them.

265 yards @ 6.2 yards a pop doesn't lie.
Carr apparently wanted to FG them to death for whatever terrible reason. Maybe I'm just not remembering the game properly, but it's not like it was 27 for 27.
August 26th, 2014 at 2:47 PM ^
Henne was the culprit. He was fucking terrible. 19 for 37 for 233 yards. That's 6.3 ypa against a I-AA defense that was legimately I-AA, with Manningham and Arrington, and the Appy State linebackers laser-focused on the run game. Part of the reason why I don't miss him.and his very mediocre career 7.0 ypa.
August 26th, 2014 at 3:24 PM ^
Right up there with his HS highlights imho. He never got to full speed but kept changing direction and found the endzone after 54 yards. But since the game turned out the way it did, that didn't get any attention.
August 26th, 2014 at 3:35 PM ^
Fucking terrible. On those drives, we
1. Went from their 34 to their 25 in four plays, threw an interception.
2. From our 24 to their 33, incomplete pass on fourth down.
3. A one-play drive, Hart's rumbing bumbling stumbling 54-yard TD to take a one point lead, Brandon Minor run (!) for 2pt conversion failed.
4. From our 43 to their 26, Gingell's missed FG.
5. From our 34 to their 20, all yards on a single pass to Manningham. We had to try a kick because only 6 seconds left. Blocked.
Our defense was stout on four straight drives, on which ASU netted -11 yards. Then we took the lead. Bork Lazer had one 18-yard rush and four pass completions for 55 yards on that drive. They kicked the game-winner on 1st and goal from the 5 with 0:30 left because they had no timeouts.
August 26th, 2014 at 1:56 PM ^
Let's hope so! That would mean our Offense will get that much more time to run against live competition.

Looks like they play a 3-4. The two starting outside linebackers listed are 210lbs and 185lbs. Seems like there should be some opportunity for outside runs.

Hit the edge and get into the secondary. DE is huge though!
August 26th, 2014 at 1:32 PM ^
August 26th, 2014 at 2:40 PM ^
They ran it much more like a 4-3 Under. But with that size, well, that's more like a 3-3-5 type personnel. Very small defense. NT is hard to move, not too concerned about the DEs though. Their worst thing appeared to be tackling in space. Lots of arm tackles, lots of bad angles, really soft zones.
As for their OL, lots of slide protections, don't get much if any push up front. Can stay in front of some guys though. QB doesn't have much arm strength, but throws a pretty nice ball with some good touch. Timing was a bit off, but he was a new starter mid-way through last year. Looked a lot better than the guy he took over for.
Overall, they play pretty much the same as they did before, just without the explosive athletes they had. They just look like a step slower version of their same ol' self. QB is more a "keep honest" threat, WRs aren't burners, etc.
Really good punter though. Peppers should get some opportunities come Saturday.
August 26th, 2014 at 12:55 PM ^
In the experience part of the chart -- by my count, there are 16 guys who have started but have 0 consecutive starts. Either they benched guys left and right last year, they had a ton of injuries, or both.

Here I was, thinking that probably nobody on the roster could get a Michigan offer, but Tacoi Sumler (committed to Oregon in 2010) somehow ended up there. I remember thinking about all of the potential "Tacoi Pants" jokes that there would be if he ended up here.
August 26th, 2014 at 1:03 PM ^
This will probably be the only game in Michigan's history where each team has a player with a first name whose first four letters are "Taco"
