You're clearly not a parent of 2+ kids  ;)

01/31/2018 - 4:23pm Born and raised in Michigan,

Born and raised in Michigan, but have been living in Nashville for the past 18 years.  Dad and his business partner graduated from the Endodontics School at Michigan.   I didn't have a choice.  Not sure I needed or wanted a choice.   It's been a part of me ever since, will continue to be a part of me and will be a part of my kids' lifes.   We cheer for "Papa's Team!" in our house!

I thought the broadcast was lacking in advertisements and commercial breaks.   Maybe if they added more the rankings would have been even higher.

10/22/2017 - 12:37am The best thing I saw, our

The best thing I saw, our nanny getting married to the love of her life.  Our 4 kids had a blast dancing, socializing, asking to see 'Miss Lexi's' dress, and being the second best star of the 'show.'

It was tonite that helped me realize football is amazing, great, and a huge part of me and my family's life, but there are a ton of other moments of life that really are much more important.  Spending time with those who matter significantly more than a football game and creating memories that will last forever.

Forever, Go Blue!  But, remember, there are other things in life that have significantly bigger impacts on our life than a football game.

09/28/2017 - 9:48am My big question

My biggest question out of this is what happens if some of these 'dots' get connected with high level NCAA employees?  There's a really good chance that some of these payments from Nike and Adidas went directly into NCAA employee hands to ensure the NCAA 'stays away.'

If one of the main goals of this investigation is to put a feather in the lead director's hat, then find a connection between the high dollar aparrel companies, big time universities, AND the NCAA would be a massive 'feather.'

This has the potential of getting really really ugly, and fast!

BBQ Chicken quarters. They're sitting in the brine now, then slow smoked with a dry rub, finished with a light mopping of Smokehouse Market BBQ sauce.

06/18/2017 - 10:52am I'm with you

I don't have 5, but I do have 4, the oldest being 6 yrs old. It certainly is a challenge, but there are those 'blow you away' moments that completely outweigh any and all bad moments.

I will certainly enjoy this day as much as I do all the others. I just wish I can remember to reflect and reminisce more than just 1 day a year.

04/14/2017 - 3:53pm I'll be happy to watch

I'll be happy to watch football players in a maize and blue winged helmet on the televisions in April.

12/02/2016 - 2:40pm I've never understood why

I've never understood why replay officials don't use different camera angles with the timestamp of each angle.   You can nearly get a full 360 view of what's going on by freezing each camera angle at the same critical time.  The video is captured digitally to fractions of a second.

I here the announcers always say "well, this camera angle has a good view for a second, but you lose view when you continue the footage. This other angle shows a little more."  I scream at the TV to do a 2 or 3 or 4 screen freeze to show all angles at the same time!

This could be used with the same technology mentioned.  Sync the tech in the football with the video footage, find the frame where it is conclusive the player is down, document the timestamp, sync the info, you have your perfect spot.

My FIL and I were discussing before the 'critical spot' how ironic it is that football spots with next to no regard to detail on every down except those that ended very close to the first down marker or touchdown.  Why judge on milimeters for those critical spots, but use such a 'willy nilly' process for all the other downs?

I'd say my fandom has increased dramatically, but my emotional responses have decreased.

I love all things Michigan a lot more than I did when I was younger, but I haven't had the emotional rollercoaster I did when we would suffer big losses or big wins.

Over/Under on how many QBs we play?  I could see Harbaugh throwing out Speight for the full first half + 1 series in the 2nd half (game is fully under control at this point), then O'Korn, Morris, Moores and Malzone to kneel down (holding out Peters as to not burn his redshirt).

***The over/under does include Morris (or any others) getting time at a different position other than QB

I'm going to guess it will be a very pertinent quote from Oscar Wilde, Kurt Vonnegut or Mark Twain.

02/12/2016 - 4:35pm There is a perfect

There is a perfect opportunity for the B1G commissioner, Jim Delaney, to swing back and swing back hard.   He should 'agree' with this proposal, but take it 2 steps further and request that all collegiate activities be performed only on class days as to not interfere with the true purpose of being a collegiate athlete.   This would include playing football games on Saturdays because the weekends are there for the kids and that freedom shouldn't be taken away.   This also includes New Years day games, any games played after the school semesters have completed, practices, etc.  And the final part of the proposal would be to name it 'The Sankey Rule' so if for some odd reason it does pass, everyone will remember who it was that screwed it all up.  Or if it doesn't pass, it will at least still have Sankey's name on it for the rest of history.

Then see how Sankey responds to the true 'intent' of his reasonings.

01/29/2016 - 3:26pm My buddy here in Nashville is

My buddy here in Nashville is a Miss St grad and pretty in touch with the Mississippi happenings.  He's hearing that most of the violations are outside of football and nearly all of them happened before Hugh Freeze's start.

In my buddy's words:    "The football ones are minor and/or involved past coaches. Probably going to get away with it.  They don't specifically state that football was cited in that time. I'm telling you that they get away with it.   I have many years of seeing them cheat."

I hope this is not the case, but figured I'd share some 'Insider Mississippi Knowledge' or whatever they call it in the Deep South.

01/14/2016 - 3:39pm At the very least it gives us

At the very least it gives us a brief look into their perspective on what happened and what Jake is thinking.   Sounds like he has the physical tools to be a solid player.   Tough to turn that down if he wants in.

01/14/2016 - 3:18pm I saw this posted over on the

I saw this posted over on the 'edges of the internet' that his Dad posted this in the Longhorns chat site:

On Orangebloods, 12/16/15:

Jake was a bit light in 2014. This entire season he practiced at 302lbs and plenty strong as compared to his peers.
Jake was fortunate that everyday, as the second team center, he practiced against the likes of Malcolm, Hassan, Tank, and Poona. Those guys are the best in the business and made him a better player.
Jake worked hard to earn a spot and when he did not get to play he first asked his coach and was given reasons that he promptly rectified.
When he still did not get to play he asked CS. Instead of telling him that he was not ready, he chose to tell Jake that he was a hard worker, practicing great and would get some game time next week. This happened 5 weeks in a row starting in week 2 or 3 and ultimately he quit asking.
Jake only played 15 plays THIS season. He graded out the 2nd highest for the season for all OL positions in all games.
Jake started 5 games LAST season and graded out higher than the starter did in any game THIS season.
This was never ultimately about playing time. He recognized that his team was struggling and was confident that he could make them better. This was his greatest frustration. If the line would have been meeting expectations he would have gladly waited his turn. He knew he could help now.
Jake did what he needed to do in the classroom to allow him to become a "free agent".
Without confidence that his coach had his back, he took a chance and made himself available to other teams.
He was rewarded for his efforts, by immediately upon his release, receiving several significant opportunities from the likes of UCLA, Michigan, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas.
During these recruiting conversations, Jake wanted to make sure that these coaches understood what brought him to this decision. In each case the coach said that they had made calls and were satisfied that Jake had acted appropriately.
In one instance, the coach said that he was offering Jake based upon his 2014 game film. He said that although he recognized that Jake was young and in need of more mass, the film showed a high degree of technique and athleticism.
Jake loves Texas, his teammates and Charlie Strong. You can love someone and not be able to live with them.
At the end of the day, college football is 5 years of his life. He has burned through 60% of that time. He believes that it is in his best interest both athletically and academically to continue his path elsewhere. It was just a business decision.
I have personally loved being a part of the Longhorn and Orangebloods family. I never intended to create a firestorm with my comments and tried to represent the situation as unemotionally as I could. I hope that every father out there realizes how difficult that can be. The alternative would have been for me to say nothing and read thread after thread of how you guys do not understand why Jake is transferring. I hope this clarifies the situation.

11/23/2015 - 2:39pm Being a father of 3 young

Being a father of 3 young kids and a 4th soon to be delivered, I don't even want to think of the pain the family is going through.   No parent should have to experience such pain and loss.   My heart is absolutely crushed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those in a similar situation.

09/05/2015 - 9:37am How soon before PJ Fleck is

How soon before PJ Fleck is at a Power 5 Conference team?  Personally, I'd love to see him take over Vanderbilt, but you can make an argument that WMU is a better job right now.

I'm stil having a hard time figuring out if WMU really is that much improved or if MSU is overhyped.   Cook looked mediocre.  Their defense was not very dominant.  They did not look very confident, just frustrated all night.

First game caveats apply, I guess.

03/27/2015 - 2:35pm Next year's bball team is

Next year's bball team is going to be great and extremely fun to watch.  I bet Belien is more excited to coach next year's team than any other team.  Mainly because he as the luxury of coaching each game differently.   That's a coach's dream!

He will have the flexibility to play his opponents to their weaknesses more than ever.  He can go with a really large lineup with Walton, Irvin, Dawkins/Chatman, Robinson/Chatman, Doyle/Wilson.   Or he can go with a smaller quicker lineup with Irvin at the 4 and Dawkins and Rahk in the 2-3.  Or if Donnal picks up his shooting, he can throw 5 guys out there than can hit 3's.

Think of the length he can throw out there for his 1-3-1 zone.   Or if he wanted to do the pseudo-matchup 2-3 zone they ran a little.

I agree with Ace that he will still want to run 5-8 players per game, but I think those 3 subs will interchange depending on the matchups.

It sounds like Levert is leaning towards coming back, which makes me really excited to see how this team develops.   We will be a force that could make a deep run in the tourney.

03/19/2015 - 2:32pm Do we know who will be the

Do we know who will be the 'captains' making the picks?   Are the 'captains' going to be players, coaches, former players?

Another fun idea would be to have an Alumni game afterwards where the current captains pick the teams and coach the game.   It would be a fun way to get former players back involved with the program and for the fans to see some of their favorite/former favorite players on the field again.
