Hello???? New 2023 QB Commit.
https://twitter.com/grusser_jack
Seeing reports that I assume are for a PWO but a kid named Jack Grusser who is a 3 star QB from Ramapo HS in NJ who was previously committed to Harvard has apparently decommited and is now coming to Michigan.
Why go to the Michigan of the East when you can go to Michigan?
Welcome Jack!
He could be our Stetson Bennett - smart, fast, and Way under the radar.
He can only be Stetson Bennett if he plays in college to the age of 26.
Smartest player in college football—he stretched out his NIL money another year, which allowed a seamless transition to collecting Social Security.
His arrest footage and subsequent response to the video call into question any high claims of his intelligence.

Also had Army and Rutgers offers. SI is reporting that it is a PWO.

Thought Harbaugh gave up the dip?

LOL
Maybe giving up dip was what screwed with his mojo 2017-2020?

Referring to the circle in his pocket? Could be a Zyn-type pouched nicotine?
Zyn got me to stop dipping. Now, I have a zyn problem.
It's Bubble Tape!
Jim looking good in Carhartt
Thought the same thing. That's a sick sweatshirt.
His mom must be 6'6" given dad's height.
Dad forgot to keep growing. I was thinking the kid is lucky to be 5'10 when Dad's 5'2.
Fence the Garden?
So now we're getting walk-ons from NJ that are ranked higher than Rutgers recruits? /s
is it really a /s tho?

Would you rather pay in-state tuition at Rutgers, or out of state at Michigan?
The answer may be - yes, it's more expensive to attend Michigan - but, it's worth it.
Go Blue!
Hell yeah!
We seem to have a glut of qbs that... Are likely to never see the field. Not an insult. Just odd
The 2022-2023 49ers proved you can't have too many QB options
Too soon
Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but getting into the Harbaugh network isn't a bad idea if you think a coaching career is in your future.
Obviously don’t know this young man but I suspect he will contribute positively to the locker room chemistry.
He probably will have a big role on the scout team - you need a quick study to learn the other team's play book.
Let's hope they all see the field in a blowout of Ohio State, you know, like how everyone played against Hawaii and NIU and UConn.
You never know. The last two NC’s were one by a former walk-on

As was our last NC!
Scholarship limits don't matter, so sounds great to me. I remember Brian talking about how Harbaugh always took multiple QBs, which sounded nice after Hoke's handling of recruiting around the time of Shane Morris. But then he came to Michigan basically right when if you have more than one decent QB, someone is transferring at the end of the year :/
While true, we need to be taking at least 1 QB every single cycle.
Seems like an academic risk. Hope he can stay eligible.
/s
He wanted to do his first tow years at Harvard and THEN transfer but the risk of the credits not transferring with our admissions was too great.
Could be an outstanding athlete, isn’t the best athlete on any given HS team a strong candidate for the QB position? The scout team needs good players, too. Love how magnetic our recruiting is in the current cycle.
This. Our HS in St. Louis had a kid named Jairus Byrd who played QB (and several other positions). Went on to Oregon and then played free safety in the NFL with quite a bit of success. At smaller high schools (like Clayton High) the best athlete often gets the most touches - so is the QB by default. This young man could end up who knows where. But welcome to Michigan young man - and you can always get your law degree from Harvard!
Pride of the North Bergen Interscholastic League

FUN FACT: The North Bergen Interscholastic League is no more.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I competed in that league in the mid-1960s.
Plus he’s ginger, so we get those powers too.
Worked for tcu. Worth trying.

No soul is a power?
Don't want. Poor pad level and knee bend l. Probably can't even play Guard
That means were are down to only 6 of the top 8 guards in the big ten now. Am I kidding? I dont know.
Also ginger.
The Red Rifle. I like his jump throw in twitter. Not pasting here.. oh well. Worth the click.
He is coming as a preferred walk-on and had many other D-1 offers
He claims a 40 time of 4.49, perfect score on ACT.
Good for him and Michigan. Can't say I'd do the same if I was in his shoes. Turning down a scholarship for a free education would be hard to do if it was me. Or if it was my kid, as much as I love going to the Big House, I'd be pushing for him/her to take the scholarship. No better way to start a career then with no student debt.
Hey BIG, it may have changed in recent years, but there was a time when Ivy League schools couldn’t offer scholarships
April 17th, 2023 at 10:39 PM ^
It hasn't changed. Ivy League schools signed an agreement years ago that bars any member institution from providing any type of financial aid except according to individual need. There are no athletic scholarships or academic merit scholarships either in the Ivy League. What you pay is entirely decided by how much money your parents make.
