Jabrill traded to NYG for Beckham jr
Per Adam schefter.
God damn!
[edit: mgowill] Title somewhat misleading.
Browns get Beckham.
Giants get Cleveland’s 1st round pick (No. 17 overall), the second 3rd round pick this year and Jabrill Peppers.
The trade cannot be made final until Wed. at 4 p.m. ET.
Amen my brother. Im speechless
Meh. Odell is basically a less durable version of Antonio Brown. I can't wait to see how Cleveland fucks this up.
They won’t...Times are changing for the Browns. They arguably have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL now.
Until Baker goes down, which will happen before game 8. The Browns are the Lions on steroids, they always find a way to snap a loss out of the jaws of victory.

He's a less durable version of the WR who just completed, statistically, the best five-year receiving stretch in league history? That still sounds pretty good.

OBJ gives them a huge weapon downfield for Mayfield, and they'll be dangerous in a division that definitely looks winnable with Cincy, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore all trending down or, at best, steady. I do wonder if their success can carry over next year; they were in a ton of close games last season and sometimes you trend up the following year or you simply settle into playing a lot of close games and winning about half of them.
Their offense should be really good next year with Mayfield, Chubb, and the receivers; their defense played better as the year progressed but they also have some holes in their secondary (I think Ward is the only cornerback they know is back for next year) and then removed a pretty good player in Peppers.
It'll be interesting. I will say that OBJ is a great talent but he underwhelmed versus expectations the last two years. Some of that is due to injury and a decent amount is due to having the desicated corpse of Eli Manning wobbling balls to him, but it's not a given he's going to walk right in and be a top-3 receiver.
Giants got fleeced in this trade. Jabrill definitely played well this year, but OBJ is OBJ
The Giants got fleeced? They get Peppers AND a first and 3rd rounder this year! How is that getting fleeced?
Never mind.
Agreed. I’ll take what the Giants are having. OBJ is a locker cancer and an ego maniac. This will end as it should, disaster.
Now if Jabrill can play close to Landon Collins level, this will look real bad for the Browns.
OBJ is beloved in that locker room. Manning’s passer rating is like 20 points higher with him on the field than without.
The Giants also still paid out $20 million to OBJ because of the signing bonus.
They got robbed and have no light at the end of the tunnel in sight. Gettleman is the worst GM in the NFL.

This is an amazingly stupid take. Check out the Giants' locker room reacting last August at the news that Beckham signed his extension:

Sure looks like they hate him!
Cancer. Period. Here is a small tidbit of what you get...without a young and immature QB throwing to him now. You, buddy, will be looking stupid. Go back to Madden, where he is truly special.

Because OBJ is a top 5 receiver in the league that was basically the only reason the Giants could put up any points
Considering the going rate for a top 5 WR is a 3rd rounder and a 5th rounder, the Giants definitely came out better in this trade
Hahahahaha ok

You do know arguably the best receiver in the league was just traded for a 3rd and 5th rounder, right?

Brown is 4 1/2 years older than Beckham and had basically announced that he would never play for the Steelers again, so they had no leverage. That's very different from a WR in the middle of his prime who is under contract for another four years.

They do have Saquon and Evan Engram. If they get solid QB play, the offense will be fine.
Great for Jabrill. He needed to get out of that shithole of Ohio.
He got traded to maybe the worst team in the nfl, that sucks for a guy as competitive as he is
And he was treated like shit the entire time he played for Cleveland. So fuck Ohio
I dunno. He got traded--basically--home, right? He may be able to see his family home from the stadium. He gets to live in NYC if he wants. And being a strong player on a poor team can have its rewards. Just assuming this is bad for him. . .

I'm fairly certain the Giants will be in a Super Bowl again before the Browns.
Stop it Eli is trash! Plus the Browns have a ton of young talent that the Giants don’t have.
Lets stipulate that Eli is trash and the Browns have a ton of young talent that the Giants don't have, it is still very possible that the Giant make it to a Super Bowl before the Browns. Giants will get a new qb and given their track record, not at all impossible that the Browns don't leverage that young talent into a Super Bowl appearance.
Good News: I get to see Jabrill play for my favorite team!
Bad News: My favorite team is a dumpster fire!
It wouldn’t be a dumpster fire if you dummies over on NY sports radio realized that Manning is horrible now and it’s imperative to move on.
Us dummies? I've been screaming for years from the rooftops that they need to draft a QB and actually develop him! Ownership has absolutely zero vision, no plan at all, it's ridiculous. The Giants went from one of the best run teams to easily one of the worst in the league and outside of the Mets and Knicks, worst in this City.
Landry and OBJ together with Mayfield is gonna be tough to handle.
Posbang?
Not sure if I feel bad for Jabrill, or not. On one hand, he's out of Ohio. On the other, he has to go to the NY Giants.
I just threw up a little in my mouth...
So glad the Browns exist so the Lions are not assured of being the worst franchise. Gotta love competition
Wtf are you high? This is an incredible move by Cleveland
Nice try. Lions are clearly the worst.
I would rather Gary, Bush, Chase, or any other M player go to Cleveland over the Lions.
I’m imagining MGrowOld as the Stan Marsh gif in front of the computer...
Pretty much.
Still entirely possible the Browns find a way to screw this all up.
Make no mistake. There is an absolute assload of talent on that team right now. More than enough to win the division. Cincinnati is a trainwreck, Pittsburgh is a shell of its former self, and Baltimore appears somewhat ordinary. This division is Cleveland’s for the taking.
But the Browns are the exact kind of organization that would find a way to screw this all up and implode on itself. Not saying they will, but between them and the Lions, they are the most capable of taking this kind of situation and just absolutely blowing it.
Get your jokes in now. Baker now has OBJ to take the top off the defense while Landry destroys everyone underneath. Who's covering Njoku/Calloway/Higgins/Perriman? Combine that with Chubb/Kareem while Duke is catching screen passes.
Get your jokes in now? People have been getting their jokes in for 20 years while the front office in Cleveland has been rat fucking their fans wallets. I am a lifelong Bengals fan and I can’t deal with another shitshow in Cleveland, I hope to hell they have some measure of success because their fans are as loyal as they come and deserve better. But you might just want to wait til they do something before you fire up the victory parade. There are very few franchises across the sporting world that are run with less vision and commitment than the Cleveland Browns. Cautious optimism is the route to take.

Uhh, Perriman just signed with the Buccaneers. Jarvis Landry hasn't hit 1,000 yards since three years ago. And Higgins and Callaway are, so far, replacement-level players. I'm also optimistic for the Browns' future, but you have some serious rose-colored glasses.
March 13th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
How was I supposed to know at the time I posted that Perriman would ask out of the deal he agreed to?
Landry averages 96 catches per season over his career.. Now he and Baker will have another off season together to get on the same page, with the same offense. On top of that, he will revert to a role he is more comfortable with which is the # 2 receiver who's doing damage within the first 15 yards.
Only Browns fans who watched every game witnessed the maturation, and the progress Higgins/Callaway made throughout the year. Before he got hurt, Higgins was somewhat of a security blanket for Baker, and Callaway will now be facing single coverage in the slot with much less pressure on him.
This Browns organization is making moves. I may have to jump on the bandwagon. Being a Lions fan you always have to have a second team to root for.
Now I can root for the N.Y. Giants! Go Blue!
Good for Peppers.
Giants fans are kind of being dicks though
Giants fans are finally realizing that ownership and management has zero vision for this team and has done nothing to move away from the disaster that is Eli Manning and his contract.
March 12th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
I understand that but they don't have to be a dick to Jabrill. He's now on their team
Good...Jabril needs to leave that clown state and their psycho stalking fans
You could argue that the Browns have the most balanced roster in the league talent wise. Their offense could be scary next year. Kareem hunt, obj, Landry, njoku... wow
