Penn State losing both Shareef Miller and Conner McGovern.

The only reason he would be the first QB taken is that the guy who was projected to go #1 has already decided to return rather than go pro.

I have no idea how likely it is that he declares, but there are an awful lot of people acting like it's a done deal, when we literally, *this year*, have an example of someone in that position choosing to come back.

Herbert's younger brother is an incoming freshman at Oregon so the chance to play with him was probably a factor in Justin returning to school. He also has a 4.0 GPA and likely wants to finish his degree in Biology.

EDIT: I also don't think he's all that great (but that's just opinion).

I do not see it at all. All year Haskins was knocked for being unable to throw accurately once moved off his spot. His receivers were also running free every game. Those things will not happen in the NFL. The hit rate on QBs taken in the first round of the draft has improved in recent years but nothing about Haskins tells me he is a future star.

“Hurr sure if you don’t agree with my scouting take you’re an idiot”

the only idiot here is you for thinking numbers have any have any bearing on NFL success. Tell me about what JT Barrett has done in the NFL. Nothing??? But he threw like 50 TDs, as a freshman!! Guaranteed HOFer obviously.

Scouts have legitimate concerns about his ability on the move and the fact that he literally got more help from his receivers than ANYONE in the country (per PFF advanced stats).

Haskins 99-1 he goes.  His stock can only go down.  He is rated the highest QB on board by many and maybe a #1 overall.  Not enough insurance money to make that up if he is injured or by some chance he has a bad year and drops to late first or second round pick.  Anyone who advises him to stay does not have his best interest.  I would say the same about Devin Bush.  He could only hurt his draft stock.  Game is too violent and too much risk to not take the opportunity if you can.  I applaud Gentry, Bush, Long and Gary. If your dream is the NFL, go for it.

PSU's Ryan Bates also to the NFL Draft. Their OL is taking a huge hit losing McGovern and Bates. If Miles Sanders declares as expected, PSU's offense is going to be very green. Franklin has recruited well though, but I think their offense could take a major step back next year.

He had several very quiet games, including the loss to OSU, the decimation at the hands of Michigan, and most recently the Capital One Bowl loss to Kentucky. In fact he only went over 100 yards in five of their 13 games, though probably some of it was McSorley stealing yards from him on scrambles and designed runs.

I feel like he was just a guy, which maybe isn't fair since he was following a generational talent in Barkley. I dunno.

PSU's backup QB seemed pretty good when I saw him play, i think he'll be fine. But I'm just not scared of a Frames Janklin PSU team without Saquon or McSorely or Morehead. Those are some very good players/coaches and I don't see them coming close to 2017 status without them.

I have no clue why Hebert is expected to be taken higher than Haskins.
