Brown is an excellent D coach!.  Is he perfect .... nope .. and guys have to perform as well.

Let's be honest if #10 would of played I am sure some better plays would of happened when FL's QB ran for it.  No doubt.  I would love to have played for and have D Brown as my coach.  Simple as that.  The D can't be out there all time like they were in the OSU and FL game.  Even great D's have trouble being on the field too long.  The Offense is and has always been the issue. We certainly made some big strides in my opinion this year but it doesn't mean we don't have a glaring need to still improve. Going 3 and out too often puts tremendous pressure on defenses.  We need sustained offensive drives to allow a rest and a boost to moral on the team.  Call it an excuse if you like but we were certainly down a lot of really good players today.  Chase played hurt and wasn't his normal self.  I appreciate his toughness and the fact he didn't sit out. Wish him the best.

For me, the team did better than I thought this year and I truly thought this was the year we would take it to OSU, I mean I am sure most of us did.  Urban is a good coach as is Mullen.  You will continue to see FL improve with him at the helm.  I do agree with most that JH should bring in an OC ( or let one of his guys totally call the show ) and truly coach the team as a whole.  I don't mind if he has some input into what he would like to see 50% of the time but we certainly need some creativity and some quicker evolving plays.  Shea likes to be out of the pocket.  He does fine in it as well but he is an athletic QB and it surprised me that they didn't call more QB run plays its like games past.  But you know what .... the games are in the past for me already.  OSU was my big let down and all I can hope is that we continue to keep improving offensively and with the couple of fast slot type guys we just picked up I see this happening (I hope). I trust Don Brown .. if the offense can catch up far more and we become balanced.  We absolutely will be tough to beat.   There is no question though, I just want to beat MSU and OSU yearly.  I would rather lose a game or two a season but I for one want to beat those 2 all the time.  I don't really care about being #1 at this time ... it would be nice .... but it's not my personal want.

All in all ... happy .... but was NOT a happy ending to the season.  I do however really like some of the new guys coming in and see many of them competing and probably starting right away.  We did get some real gems.  Lets hope they shine soon and often next year!  Go Blue !

This whole staff is a bunch of arrogant overpaid fucks and the players are starting to see through it. If Harbaugh truly cares about Michigan football he will leave.

MIchigan beat three good teams that are supposed to be deep enough to cover their injuries.  When Michigan was hit with injuries, they weren't deep enough to beat OSU at home or Florida in a bowl game. In conclusion, lots of teams would love to have had Michigan's season.

In all seriousness if you think Michigan is getting its money’s worth from this staff I’ve got a chunk of land on the moon for you very cheap, because only suckers would think this staff is holding up its end of the bargain!

I'm an OSU fan, not trolling.

I agree with you that there is definitely something wrong with your coaching staff.

You have plenty of talent but it's not showing up on the field in big games. Harbaugh looks either confused or grumpy most of the time.

He probably needs to give the reins of your offense to someone up-and-coming. What he is doing now is pretty predictable, from our point of view.

Michigan needs a good Offensive Coordinator more than anything else.

Someone that Harbaugh will listen to and respect.

We've got skilled play makers. The offense is not being coached to win, but to be afraid of losing.

Harbaugh, when you played you weren't chickenshit. Why coach chickenshit?

Let the players ball out!

Harbaugh said, "“We’re beaten by -- on those days, we were beaten by better teams. So, we have to persevere, be persistent, keep working and put it over the top.”  That is troubling.  Those better teams were all underdogs and the last two gave us the worst back-to-back beatings (drubbings?) I can ever remember happening to a Michigan team.

There’s only one coach who doesn’t do the halftime interviews and gives basically one word answers to post game questions, because he thinks he’s untouchable well somebody (Warde) needs to ask some tough questions to  the  $7 million man!

Watching Clemson and Alabama they have dominant lines. Until we get those again, we won't challenge for a championship. We have the skill players, just as good as those guys.  JH will get us there.

Let’s be honest . Michigan football has become the Calvin College basketball of d1 football.  Both have a stubborn coach who is gun-ho about his shitty “system” having to work but consistently lose to its rival

We aren’t even a fucking top 15 team after four years of Jim. We have a problem. The first step is admitting it.

Other people on the board have mentioned this, but what pisses me off the most about Harbaugh is his attitude. Rude to reporters, never answers any questions, acts completely above everyone else. Hell, even Saban—six rings and all—gives a few answers. He’s just not a good person, and I’m sure players realize Jim is more about himself than anyone else.

Ding Ding Ding...we have a WIIIIINNNNNER!!!! Harbaugh acts like he comes from coaching royalty and his family is the Kennedy's of football. Even when we were winning his press conferences bothered me. I couldn't tell if he was pissed or arrogant.  In all honesty I think he is acting and trying to create this person or persona to go down in Michigan lore as better than Bo. who the f knows anymore

This meltdown is so annoyingly predictable! Three team leaders - talented players - headed for the NFL don’t play for whatever reason, and before the game the fans are saying, “No big deal, this game is meaningless.”

Michigan loses - and Winovich explained that on defense missing those guys made a difference, in addition to the guys who got hurt - and the fan base blames the coach. Suddenly the meaningless game is important. Off with their heads!

Obviously the guys not playing affected the outcome. So what does the fan base do? Acts like babies and explodes, but not at the guys who decided not to play; they’re off limits. They blame the coaches who led the team to a ten win season, in itself not an easy task.

Regardless of what we think players have a right to do - I certainly think they have a right to play or not play - there are the issues of team, of sportsmanship, of loyalty. Any team would lose cohesion under these circumstances, and that is simply not on the coaches.

As for the conservative play-calling, yes, perhaps that’s on the coaches, but I also understand also that they may have wanted to control the ball to keep a depleted defense off the field, since they knew it was going to be a much tougher slog without those players - and Don Brown said so before the game. He was not kidding himself.

In view of this trend where players sit out bowls to protect their future pro careers, my take is that, like it or not, the bowl system is obviously dead. College football is a junior pro league where it’s about money, not sportsmanship and all the rah-rah stuff. Have an 8 team playoff, call those 4 games bowls or whatever you like, because they’re all that matter to anyone, and kill the other bowls for Division 1 or whatever it’s now called.

As for those interested in seeing non-professional athlete students play other non-professional athlete students for the sheer sportsmanship of it, there are other leagues, like the Ivies. The idea that Michigan athletes would sit out a bowl game bugs me an awful lot, and I’ll admit it makes me lose interest.

Why kill them? While they are far from perfect, the bowls do matter to many of the student-athletes that do get to go to them. At least several dozen schools finish their year with a win and a trip. Yeah, so Michigan had four players who chose not to go for reasons of self-interest. Does that mean the rest of the team shouldn't go anywhere?

[Besides, Michigan Team 139 showed Saturday it really didn't deserve to be included in an eight team playoff and would likely have been embarrassed if they had gone.]

If you don't want to watch bowl games don't. Nobody forcing you to watch them But I am increasingly convinced that it is the playoff that is the mistake, not the bowls.

Harbaugh has brought us back to the Carr level (minus the one year with a special player like Charles and how everything fell in place), which is much better than the RR and Hoke years. I don't think Pep was capable of designing plays, others than the ones we have been running all season. Harbaugh needs to hire the best modern OC out there and let him design the offense and call most of the plays. It seems like we will have a lot of talent on offense and will need to find a go to back. A lot Michigan fans are unrealistic in goals. There is no way Michigan is even close to the top teams in college football. May be over time Harbaugh can recruit and build a team that may one day challenge the elite teams but it may be several years away. The only thing I don't like to see is how the team has fallen off at the end of the last two seasons. I like to see the team improve throughout the season and not peak in October and fall off in November and during the bowl game.

Comparing Harbaugh's in-game coaching to Lincoln Riley's, one guy wanted not to be embarrassed, and ended up being embarrassed, and the other guy coached from beginning to end to win, not caring about how badly he could lose.  I didn't think Harbaugh would be such a pussy--very disappointing to see him give up. . .it has to affect the team also.  Riley went for it all night, and his team ended up putting up a good fight, nothing to be ashamed of.  Harbaugh and Michigan were shameful, and once again Harbaugh is mocked for his puny results.

I had higher hopes for Michigan football in year 4 — but the last two games left me numb as a fan.  I liked the fiery and crazed Harbaugh but haven’t seen that lately.   After watching the semifinals we aren’t even close to competing at the Clemson and Alabama level — at best we are a nice big ten program who will get 8-10 wins and lose the big games that we want to win so badly.  End of season last year brought some changes.  Hopefully this year will as well.

Frankly, it won't matter who the titular OC is until Harbaugh stops trying to be 21st Century Bo.

The pattern is all too familiar count on superior talent combined with conservative playcalling to beat up on (minimize risk in losing to) those 8-11 opponents a year that are overmatched, then stumble against OSU and the post season against teams that are better matched. This risk averse strategy minimizes losing against inferior teams, but is bound to fail against teams that are just as physical, just as fast (or faster), and are willing to be more daring.

I agree with this.  AND, we all need to stop referring to it as “Don Browns defense”.  DB is NOT bigger than M football, he is part of the program.  He is clearly not  “King” as Harbaugh described him.  I don’t even know what players mean anymore when they say”if you’re gonna play in a Don Brown defense, you have to .....”.  I hope we don’t hear about Don Brown by name again...he needs to become just thought of as a part of a bigger program.  That is all...

Bo was Woody Lite.  More articulate than his master and destroyed fewer football supplies on the sideline.  But benefitted from the game passing Woody by to win in the later/mid 1970s.   His legacy?  Trying to imitate Woody by slamming his headphone on the field for a questionable fake punt holding call, and tripping over the cord in the last Rose Bowl loss.

Enter Jim Harnaught.  Cringeworthy Cowherd interviews and press conferences.  The Snap wounded him and The Spot killed him.  I don’t think anyone who turns things around after four years loses two games 103-54 with a legitimate 10 win team.

Before heading over to Gillette to tailgate, after yesterday, I hope the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets Jets, are dumb enough to make the Godfather offer to Harbaugh and he accepts.  Took me 4 years to go to the dark side.

M is what it is; a top 15 to 25ish football program without a good recruiting base. a program with a solid, but not innovative or inspiring coach. a program that is top 20ish because it has great resources and some cache, but not enough of the other elements necessary to consistently be top 10ish (at the end of the year) and almost never top 5.

Again, M is what it is. i think a lot of M's expectations go back to Bo. i've been around for 60 years. Bo wasn't the Bo of current M legend. and consequently, M isn't the potentially elite program that some suggest. Bo was an almost great coach and a very inspirational man. Bo was a winner, but Bo wasn't Bud Wilkinson, Bear Bryant, John McKay, Urban Meyers or Nick Saban. And M isn't Bama or USC or OSU. Very good, but not elite in football.

Good point on Riley coaching to the end.

JH quit against Osu with 6 or 7 min to go also. Peter's throws a perfect td pass ...then puts Milton in right after.

I think it's time for Don Brown to re-think his primary strategy.  You can't play press man coverage on every down and get no pass rush an d think you will be effective.  I understand that we had two main starters sit out on defense, but if you knew that going in, you have to adjust your gameplan.

That is one thing this entire staff cannot seem to do on either side of the ball.  Both Brown and Harbaugh are so single-minded and stubborn they cannot change how they attack when their original plan doesn't succeed.  I now see the benefit of the head coach not wearing a headset

If Harbaugh didn't interfere with the offensive play calls maybe we could run a tempo offense some times.  And if Don Brown took a head coaching job somewhere we could possibly not get trucked by every team with a competent QB.

My belief in this staff every getting to a B1G championship game is now 30%.  My belief in this staff getting a team into the playoff at 25% and winning a National Championship  . . . 1%.

As long as Clemson and Alabama use churches to funnel money to players and their families, they will continue to get the best players and everyone will have to watch these boring playoff games.

Every game yesterday was unwatchable, the outcome was obvious after 1 quarter in almost every game.  Michigan had a chance until about 6 minutes left in the second then that was over too.

We all better get used to 10-win seasons and meaningless bowl games as the ceiling around here unless we get on board with how the best programs operate.  This holier-than-thou attitude is a "no one cares anymore" scenario.  We are a middle tier program with a huge stadium and a cool helmet.

Forget about the cheating stuff. Michigan doesn't sign a top 10 class this year without some funny business.

Saban is simply a better coach than Harbaugh. He's better in every way. Give Saban and his assistants Michigan's team/facilities and they beat ND and Florida, possibly even OSU. Give Harbaugh and his assistants Alabama's team/facilities and they lose to at least Georgia.

Just got done watching a condensed version of the game...

Huge defensive let down. Brown needs to be on the hot seat.

The defense, especially in the 2nd half, was a turd. The tackling in the 2nd half sucked and it’s pretty clear to me that Brown can’t adapt. Back to back games with zero adjustments when there are massive holes is pathetic.

Spread Michigan wide and a) run the QB or b) throw slants because Michigan won’t adapt to stop them because of a weird obsession with man coverage. When playing against a team that like to run the QB and or has elite speed on the outside zone needs to be the base coverage.

I think Don Brown will become an insomniac after the last two games.

The overall offensive approach was decent. I think there were a few too many inside runs and terrible time management. They need to stop running Evans up the middle. He’s best utilized as a receiver out of the backfield and for trick plays.

It was nice to see some pistol and a good amount of 3 and 4 wide shotgun formations. A little more RPO would have been nice. If we could get that 3rd drive of the game for 80%+ of the drives that would be awesome.

They have 3 NFL caliber WRs (Collins, Peoples-Jones, and Black), 2 dynamic athletes (Bell and Evans), 2 solid backs (Turner and Wilson), and an OL that's decent and improving…they need more consistency at QB and a 60-40 pass to run ratio with a lot of pistol and or 3 or 4 wide formations.

There needs to be a QB competition for next season. Patterson isn’t consistent enough to be given the job. There were some WTF moments from him in this game…What was with that throw on 4th and 15 with 2:18 to go? How can an upper classman be so terrible with time management? How can an upper classman get a delay of game on the first play after a kick off?

The best unit was special teams. Good work special teams.
