Don Brown A Finalist for Temple HC Job

Per the Philadelphia Inquirer

We could find out today the new Temple football coach. Three DC's Mike Elko (Texas A&M), Manny Diaz (Miami), & Don Brown (Michigan) are thought to be in the running. Based on some conversations, my gut says Elko is the favorite, but we will see.

You must be fairly young. Nowadays a healthy guy his age--almost any profession, if he's been healthy to this stage--may see himself with 15 more good working years in him. I'm approaching his age and just not seeing any reason not to do almost any of the things I love. If the job looks like a pleasure to him he needs to go for it.

Unfortunately.

That's a damn good age.  Possibly the best.  Great intersection of vitality and wisdom provided you have been living with integrity and not overcommitted to bullshit (says the 47 year old).

Immediately leaving after getting stomped by OSU would definitely decrease my fondness for him. I'm sure he wouldn't then go on to kill a player, so he's clearly not DJ Durkin.

I find it hard to believe that our d coordinator might have been focused on finding a head coaching position during the week preceding The Game instead of working on a game plan.

I am sorry, but explain how you know that with 100% certainty?

I am going to be honest with you here. You consistently take the most negative news that is rumored or reported and run with it as gold, and the most positive news is taken as more of a "see it when I believe it" kind of thing.

Not every individual needs to be an optimist, but you tend to fall on the reverse spectrum of that scale.

To each his own, man. But in this instance, I do not think you know for sure whether or not that is true.

I am a pessismist because it proves to be accurate more often, its pretty simple. I also predicted we'd go 10-2 this year.

There is no reason for a Temple reporter to lie about Don Brown interviewing for the Temple job. So if a person with Temple sources is reporting that Temple has interviewed Don Brown and they consider him a finalist I have no reason to believe that isn't true. The tweet and information they are putting out is clear. You can choose not to believe it but that is a different issue.

I don't believe Brown would take the job but I don't know why everyone is so confident.

If he wants to be a head coach, now would be the time, and while certainly not a "high quality" head coaching job, Temple does now have at least a respectable program.  Good luck to him if he chooses that route.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Don't do it, Temple!  He'd be an absolutely awful HC - can you imagine what kind of offense you'd have?  None!!  They'd be no good whatsoever.  So don't do it!

If Don gets the job, good for him.  Temple is not a bad job anymore.  I would have to believe it's Diaz's job if he wants it.  He's a good DC and young (44 years old).

This is just more b.s. negative rumors to derail UM recruiting.  Don Brown would never take the head coaching job at Temple. He could do WAY better than that if he wanted to be a HC.  I have been to Temple's recruiting football camps and that place is in the middle of the slums of Philly and the facilities are like third tier.

Sorry, dude, was not saying the Temple law school was third tier - I was commenting on the football facilities. Actually as I understand it the law school's Trial Advocacy department is ranked like 3rd in the nation and Temple is a perennial powerhouse in the nation's Mock Trial competition.

The walk from the practice facility to campus is sketchy. The campus seemed nice. But the football environment isn't anywhere near like it is in Ann Arbor or most colleges across the country that have a stadium on campus.  It is a hard place to recruit.

Lol I give up. Brown is a little old, but he would be a perfect hire for Temple. Coach Brown has an east coast background, coaches good defense, and could easily build Temple into the top team in the AAC (UCF is about to have a fall from grace). Not to mention a great leader of young men.
