Harbaugh Debunks NFL Rumors

Submitted by allezbleu on December 9th, 2018 at 11:44 AM

"This is a choreographed message that comes up at this time every year before signing day," Harbaugh told ESPN this weekend. "It's people spreading messages to further their own personal agenda.

"But I'm on record right here, right now: I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying at Michigan. We have big plans here, and there's a lot we want to accomplish."

(As I posted in the other thread)...Yes, I just saw Schefter's report on NFL Countdown.  He quoted JH basically saying it's an orchestrated attempt at negative recruiting.  Good.

end of discussion.

I know people on this board don’t think he is the guy for the job, i respectfully disagree with that btw, but this was needed.

I was wondering when he was going to come out and say that.

So sick of UM fans bashing him.  Kids read this shit and don’t want to come because of all the negitivity!

To think many of you wanted Beline gone last season!  Stop the nonsense and start being positive!  You must want RR or Hoke back!

The "fire Beilein" takes were complete garbage. I was never on board with that nonsense.

The difference between the two coaches is that Beilein had previously won B1G titles, beaten all rivals, and taken the team to the title game, while our football program has not done the same. Beilein was unjustly criticized then, but some of the criticism directed at Harbaugh is understandable.

Hell, even the "bad" Beilein teams improved drastically by season's end and were playing pretty good ball. You can't say the same for the football program.

I know, and it was stupid for so many to be calling for his head when he'd been a smashing success aside from a couple of down years.

I've always considered us fans to be blessed to have Beilein coaching the bball team, and I thought those takes were trash then. Football is a totally different situation.

Here are two other differences...

College football has a lot more moving parts and the margin of error is significantly less. When Harbaugh took over UM was weakest at the two of the most important positions : QB and Oline. Fixing those, esp. Oline, can take years. UM has essentially had a lost decade of Oline development that is only just now starting to round the corner.

Second...all it takes is one play to alter a season in CFB. MSU's miracle punt block TD and OSU 'he was short' in DOUBLE OT...those were both single play, season altering plays. Flip those around and the narrative around Harbaugh today is drastically different.

Ya know I think it may be that people have realistic expectations for the basketball team and don't for football. We understand that Michigan basketball isn't a blue-blood and can't compete for the best recruits with the likes of Duke, Kansas, and Kentucky. It leads to more appreciation for success and blunting some of the failure. Not many were screaming about Beilein being a failure for losing to UK in 2014 or Villanova last year. But for some reason we expect our football program, in a declined rust-belt state that doesn't have particularly strong high school football, should be able to compete with the best and most favored of football programs in the country. Seems a bit delusional, honestly. We've almost never been at the top since the late 40's. I'm not sure that 10-2 isn't just the best Michigan can be. Maybe we just need a little luck for that best to be the best in the conference and haven't gotten it.

Fucking A he is staying - and every true Michigan fan hopes so.  We remember the Richrod-Hoke days...

I think the retards at the RCMB are getting bored with their shitty football team and their consistently underachieving basketball team, and are creating troll accounts.  Just look above and read some of the most recent posts - even during the Michigan-SC game yesterday.

May even be one or two bored, fat, unemployed Sparty trolls - though I know that doesnt narrow it down much.

The OSU game hurt - but better days are ahead for football, and our hoops team is 10-0, ranked #5, and going to be a great Jan-Apr.

Go Blue!!!

I think this is the guy that has on the lakers, yankees, or patriots gear when you go to watch your home team. There is always someone better but being a fan has its fun moments. At least i know win, lose, or draw ill never be a troll trying to spread my misery to the world. Such a sad existence you must have. I hope you get the help you need.

I remember when many predicted 8-4 and 7-5 seasons following the Notre Dame game, with some respected members of this board saying Nebraska could be a loss. I remember when many called for Beilein’s head after two bad seasons. They were wrong and the vindication was sweet. It’ll be even sweeter this time around. Go Blue.

While they were only rumors, glad coach come out and said something.

Stand behind the coaches who want to coach here and the players who want to play here!

request OP change title to:  "harbaugh confirm's xtramelanin's friday post on same topic".

he ain't leaving for nothing.  maybe never, and certainly not for the next 5 years, minimum.  he is home.  the kids are home.  mom/dad next door.  he doesn't need the $ they'd wave at him.  and he is not moving his large family until/unless they are grown and gone, and he has younguns.  he is not going anywhere.

If you’re gonna stay here, start fucking winning. This is now going on Year 5—start making progress or NFL rumors will be the least of your worries (aka being axed).

Start learning from your mistakes and for the love of God institute a spread offense that doesn’t need to huddle or do a silent count every time! ND and OSU losses were so embarassing because our offense was so unprepared to be able to score quickly.

3 of his 4 seasons have 10 wins, not 10+ wins so let’s be clear. Huge difference between going 10-3 and 12-1 or 11-2. Those 1-2 games each year could be a win over OSU or ND, both of which would help bring in more recruits.

Results and receuiting are positive feedback mechanisms—Jimmy’s gotta start showing he can actually win games against teams other than the BIG10 bottom-feeders, then he can recruit better, then he can win titles.

Identify for me where in that post I insinuated I know how to coach football.

I played football in high school but have never claimed to know how to coach it. Still, even the casual observer can tell that we need a more pass-oriented offense.

Fuck off with your attempts to misconstrue what I’m saying. Learn how to read and how to use a dictionary, fucking troll.
