UM-friendly bar locations across the US (and elsewhere)
ED-Seth: Welcome to our Bar Finder Sticky. The user community has kept this going since 2009 to help MGoBloggers find UM-friendly sites for their suds consumption.
We also got a big boost in curation in 2016 from our sponsors, the...
...since most of these bars are officially alumni bars. To find your club and events happening in your area, visit their website.

THE ORIGINAL POST:
A couple weeks ago, I put together a google map with all of the Michigan bars I'm aware of (and also everything from the spreadsheet that bouje has been maintaining.) The map is here.
Hopefully this will prevent the "where's the Michigan bar in Pittsburgh/Fresno/Topeka/wherever" threads that pop up every week, but if your favorite gameday hangout isn't on here, put it in the thread and let me know. I'll do my best to keep the map up to date.

Sweet Caroline's didn't renew, so the official UM Club of Greater Boston location starting in 2014 is:
McGreevy's
www.mcgreevysboston.com/
911 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02115
Tavern in the Square (Porter Square) is still the spot in Cambridge

I will be volunteering/safari'ing in the Serengeti while the ND and Miami (NTM) games are played. Anyone know of any M-friendly pubs in Arusha?

The UM Club of Central Florida is now meeting at the following location (previous locations were Gator's Dockside and Whirlydome)
Friendly Confines

There is a Miami-Ft. Lauderdale club which typically meets in FL and has sometimes met at the Beer and Burget Joint on South Beach, we watched some of the March Madness games last year there and that was a good spot!
Although not official, for people living in Brickell, a lot of Michigan fans watch games at the Beer and Burger Joint IN BRICKELL as well since it is conventient and they always have TVs and good food/beer.
August 27th, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
Can you give me an address for the top bar? I have added the Brickell location to the map.
August 27th, 2014 at 1:34 PM ^
I have updated the map with any bars that were posted on this thread after September 2012. If you still don't see a bar that you know is Michigan friendly please post to the thread again. Do that same if you see a bar on the list that is either closed or no longer hosting games.
Thanks!

I didn't go check your list, but if it's not on there, alumni/fans in the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem) will be watching at Flipflop's Beach Bar & Grill in Greensboro this fall.

I went to Guilford and remember that location being a biker bar with a different name but still beach themed.
It's also now on the list.

The game watching venue for all Michigan football games, in the Triangle area, will be at Carolina Ale House in Brier Creek.
Address: 7981 Skyland Ridge Parkway, Raleigh, NC

The red dot in Durham should be moved to this location:
August 28th, 2014 at 9:28 AM ^
Don't worry, I can add the reciept part.
Edit: Also, should any of the others in that area be removed from the list?
August 28th, 2014 at 4:25 PM ^
There should be only 1 game watch listed in Austin:
This is the only location that has any loyalty to the fan base or communication with the Alumni Club at this point.... which is pretty tough to come by in Longhorn country. The Tavern has not been a game watch location for 5 years and should be removed.
August 29th, 2014 at 8:43 AM ^
Thanks for the info, I'll clarify in the description for both but I will leave up The Tavern just in case others want more options beside the official watch party.

I watch games at Haymaker's. It is always a raucous Michigan crowd on football Saturdays.

Anybody got an idea of where to go in Vancouver?
September 2nd, 2014 at 2:25 PM ^
I'm a long time lurker, but I wanted to post in order to save some people from the wild goose chase I went on in Prague in order to watch the game against App State. Not a Michigan bar per se, but they will stream games over their IPTV for you. Soccer is still king in the bar, but the owners are both from the US and are football fans. Definitely a bit away from the main square, but they were more than accommodating for me to watch the game there this past weekend.

You should update this with the current ones in Chicago, especially the official bars ONLY, they support UM Scholarships!

The official alumni bars for Chicago now have in the description that they donate to scholarship programs. As a note, alumni bars have a red pin while "Michigan friendly" bars have a blue pin, and I'm reluctant to remove bars just becasue they aren't official alumni club locations without good reason (i.e. closure/new management/etc).

I'm headed to the Blind Pelican to watch the game today because I saw a U of M flag there last week. I will report back if I made a mistake and it's an off colored other team flag, but I think it's friendly!
Delayed edit: NOT a michigan bar. Didn't even play the Notre Dame game. Cooter Browns is still the best bet I've seen. Tough to find bars that will play Michigan while LSU is playing.

Can you place a marker in the Uptown Dallas Area listing our watch parties? We don't really have an official bar yet (rotating between 2-3 locations: including one owned by a Michigan Alum) but list all of the events on our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/485900041500701/
It's not associated with the official alumni watch parties in Dallas but we wanted to start a second watch party for the younger alumni in the area (and both groups are aware of each other).

Was looking for a place to watch the game next week in Honolulu. Checked out the Varsity Bar on the map, but it appears according to yelp to be closed. Looks from news stories like it lost its liquor license back in 2012. I'll be looking back to see if anyone has any other ideas....

Great UM bar and all Michigan sports in general. Always have the game on the big screen with the volume turned up and have raffles, giveaways etc... Also the owner played for the Lions in the 80's and the Detroit Lions Fan Club meets there for the Lions games.

1.) Axis Nightclub
2.) The New Union
3.) Wall Street Nightclub
4.) Awol
5.) Slammers.
These Bars are alway packed with Wolverine Fans!

Mods - no worries if you don't see this as its several months old, but as a Columbus resident the places listed are all gay bars so the above poster is getting in a double-dose of Michigan trolling and homophobia. Might be best to just Bolivia this post.
Headed to the Titans home opener on 9/27, so I'm looking for a place to catch the BYU game. Is Bar Louie still the locale in Nashville?
August 11th, 2015 at 10:14 AM ^
Not sure who is updating or if this is being updated any longer, but the Hoboken, NJ bars are out of date. The local game watching bar this year is McSwiggan's at 110 First Street in Hoboken.

Does this group have a FB page?

Can we add another official Alumni Watch Party Location in Dallas?
The local club is adding an uptown location here in Dallas to supplement the current location up in Frisco.
The bar name is Nickel and Rye (2523 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75201).

A couple of updates for the DC area:
- RFD in DC, and Tommy Joe's in Bethesda are still the official DC Club watch bars
- Kangaroo Boxing Club, and Ivy & Coney are small, but UM friendly
- Buffalo Billiards is no longer a Michigan bar
- Bailey's in VA is closed
- Pour House on Capitol Hill is closed

Anybody meeting up in Fort Wayne, Indiana? I've tried to find a place here but no such luck.
August 30th, 2015 at 6:22 PM ^
I've had good times for games at Angry Wade's and Dram Shop in Brooklyn, but the former is more of a Wisconsin bar, I believe, and the latter is a free-for-all that can get quite crowded. Pork Slope is an unofficial Michigan place but I've gotten bad/surly service the last few times I've gone there. Anyone else have a Brooklyn spot they like to frequent for football that's unofficially an M gathering spot?

Looks like the mentions of Nashville are dated on here. A quick look at the FB Michigan Spirit Club suggested folks are meeting at the Dawg House Saloon, 1522 Demonbreun. Is meeting at Bar Louie still a thing?
November 23rd, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
Delayed response but after doing some research, it looks like Jed's off 21st over by the Parthenon is the "Official Michigan Football Bar". I plan to go next weekend for the first time.
Check out the Nashville UM Spirit Club group on facebook (Link Here)

Should have updated previously--Nashville is now meeting at The Slider House, 1907 Division St, Nashville, TN 37203.

Connor O'neills Irish Pub in Boulder shows the game. Second site location hosted by the UM Alumni Club of Denver.

Does anyone know of any bars playing the game in Atlanta tonight? Whitehall Tavern is not stopping trivia for the game.....

Nano Brew in Cleveland, OH on W25th St is no longer a Michigan alumni bar, nor is it Michigan fan friendly. Please remove it!

Anyone have an update on Charleston locations here in SC? Mad River is no longer. New moon changed its name.

Anyone know of any Michigan bars in South Florida like within an hour of the Palm Beach area?
April 27th, 2016 at 10:19 AM ^
It's not my favorite place to catch a game, but there's definitely a long-lost UM contingent that gets together at Upper Deck in Hallandale Beach. There's better bars in WPB, but if you're looking for a UM crowd, then the Deck may work.

The Great Canadian in Paris is where the local alumni club watches games.

Will be there for the Rutgers game. Assuming a 9:30 AM Pacific start, that makes for a 11:30 PM tip on Sunday Taipei time (accounting for fall-back time change this weekend).
