4* RB commit Eric Gray no longer visiting this weekend

Headed to Tennessee instead. Michigan might part ways per Steve Lorenz. Sucks as he's the #1 all purpose back in the nation and a top 100 recruit on 247. His competition isn't the greatest but his stats are absolutely bonkers.

A kid wants to stay closer to home and play in front of his family and friends and you think money is exchanging hands?

You do realize people grow up as fans of other programs and Michigan isn’t everyone’s favorite right? A Tennessee kid wanting to play for a Tennessee isn’t exactly a money grab situation.

An Illinois WR thought of as a Michigan lock deciding last minute to go to Ole Miss, raises questions. A NY OL thought of as a Michigan lock decides Georgia last minute, that raises questions. A kid staying close to home, does not.

I live in Nashville and one of my co-workers calls on his school and he told me the other day that the talk around their campus is that he’s going to de-commit because he wants to go to bama.  He may not land there but apparently he wants to stay closer to home.  Happy Trails if that’s the case!

Someone cancelled Christmas oh no.  Anyways I remember Derrick Green’s first weekend in AA and he showed up to the Crab Shak after the game.  Later he signed a couple of autographs and I thought to myself you’re a freshman; you still have lots of work to do!  Dang I was right.  We will always have a running back here at the University of Michigan.  Harbaugh recruits talent and not necessarily position.  We will be fine.  God Bless Mr. Gray in all his future endeavors.

Lets also remember Eno Benjamin thought Michigan was his dream school and we never gave him a committable offer too.  Man imagine if we had AJ Dillon and Eno Benjamin as Soph or RS freshmen right now.

This stinks, but I can understand it. A Memphis kid wants to play in his home state, in front of family & friends. Yeah, UT isn't going to be challenging for the SEC title anytime soon, but if they get the 8-win season that another poster mentioned, they'll be in somebody's bowl. And Gray has a good shot at being the #1 guy from Day #1. That lets him showcase his talents, and if he's good enough, he leaves early for NFL $.

So I can see the logic ... but yeah, it still stinks.

It would be nice if Gray was in this class. He is more of a luxury at this point. Charbonnet is the one I would be most disapointed in if he went elsewhere. He made it very clear on Twitter that he was all in on Michigan.  Charbonnet will make an impact in 2019.

I know this is off topic but I can't find anywhere else that Shea Patterson is planning to leave for draft after this season. Haskins too. Per Mat Miller

There was a thread yesterday where Matt Miller left Haskins off his draft board because he was returning to OSU in 2019. So he either changed his mind in one day, is speaking out of both sides of his mouth, has no idea what he's talking about, or you got it wrong.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2805645-2019-nfl-draft-matt-millers-latest-big-board-rankings#slide2

I don't even know who Matt Miller is. Having no relation to any of the parties involved, I can assure you that nobody knows what Patterson is going to do yet. I don't know why anybody would pretend to have that information.

(Trying to figure out who Matt Miller is, I stumbled onto his Twitter and saw this tweet from 2 days ago calling Devin Bush the most improved players he's seen this year. While Bush is all-universe this year, he was exactly that last year as well. If he thinks Bush is "most improved", he's admitting he didn't watch a down last year because the Bush we have now is the same Bush we had last year. He's jumping on the bandwagon because everybody else has him in their first round and he tried to sound smart. Typical NFL draftnik. I'll take his opinions with a grain of salt.)

We really need to stop with all of the recruiting regrets.  If a whatever star recruit doesn't want to be here, we don't need them or want them.  It is clear that team chemistry is an important factor in team success.  Without a band of brothers, you don't have the synergy associated with THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM.

I wouldn't want to come in competing with Charbonnet either.  Tennessee makes much more sense for another RB who wants the featured role in an offense, because it won't happen while Zach is wearing maize and blue.  Just the facts.

While it does hurt to lose a talented player, at least some solace can be taken from the fact that it's unclear just what role he would have had here, as the staff seems unwilling or unable to truly utilize these types of guys.

Barring some huge Chris Evans passing package we've been saving for OSU (which isn't out of the realm of possibility, though I'm not holding my breath), you can add Evans to the list of Slot RB type players we've seemingly underutilized, with guys like Norfleet, McDoom and Grant Perry.

If we're being honest, that may have even factored into his thinking. We don't exactly have a track record of getting the most out of his skill set.

Well, at least we Giles Jackson who can serve a similar role and will probably take more snaps in the backfield now. Giles is slowly becoming one of my favorite recruits because he's so active on Twitter and excited to play for Michigan

The only thing about this that I would not like to see about this is him going to Tennessee and that being something that says to Crouch that they are back and he goes there. I doubt it happens but it’s something that the pessimist in me thinks could happen

Read the bagman article.  It's an elementary shake down tactic.  "I was thinking of visiting your rival...What's that?  Mr. Franklin wants to know if I'm busy that weekend?  Well now that you mention it..."

I would love for Gray to stay Blue...and it would seem in his best interest. With Rumler, Jones, Keegan (likely) and company paving the way and the offense in general coming into its own...would seem like the place to be. On top of that you have Smith, Hinton, Ojabo and likely Harrison putting your offense right back on the field...yeah, would seem like the place to be.

Charbonnet is a 30 carry per game back and Giles will be a very dynamic kid. So, in a sense, losing Gray would not be that big of a deal. And, if Gray does not wish to be a part of this...it's truly his loss.

Harbaugh has this team humming along and set up to be a force year after year.
