there was a whole lot of stupid going on in that game. ferentz and franklin took turns in a bizarre game of chicken; they repeatedly punched themselves in the balls until one flinched. and stanley is a horrible qb; two really bad interceptions and was missing wide open guys left and right

Iowa came into the game with the #10 defense (per NCAA stats), but the toughest team they played was Wisconsin - who beat them in the corn field.  PSU had to work a bit to get yards, but they had plenty of big plays, and benefitted from a couple of TO's.

So long as the D doesn't give up big plays, PSU is fucked next week.  They are not quipped to grind out yards and scores against a defense like Michigan's.  And their defense is just a loose butt hole.  I mean, Stanley is not good at QB'ing and still found yards through the air.  Enough, in fact, that the RB scooted 5-6 ypc...

It's going to be a massacre.

Switching between Washington-Cal and Texas-Oklahoma State. Not an impressive slate, but fairly watchable.

.....and Oklahoma State is about to go up 24-7 on Texas. Outside zone stuff is not in Texas' wheelhouse.

It would be good to see Texas eliminated tonight but these games last forever and there is no defense in the Big 12.

Just turned on wsu/stanford game so haven’t seen any of the throws but the stat lines for both QBs are very impressive.  Super efficient. Hoping if we need to score quickly in a shootout Shea can dial it up like that.

Nice week for a bye.  Looks like about half the top 25 is going to lose.  Granted most of them are in the bottom half of the 25, but it'll be a big shake up in the rankings.

Incredible what Mike Leach is able to accomplish.  He goes to Pullman and within a couple years  is on the brink of a Pac-12 championship game (destroyed by Washington T-giving weekend I think).  Now he's on track a year later to do the same.  I know his teams are/have been flawed (all are, save for 2,3 around the country), on defense of course, but they're fun and they go win games against the competition they're made to play.  Something the previous "how many" coaches couldn't do up there.  And that's not mentioning his work at Texas Tech, another program of at-best-mediocrity.

Meanwhile, Michigan's Rich Hill just left the game to a standing ovation, after spinning his curve masterfully for 6 1/3 innings of 1- hit ball.  LA leading right now 4-0 as they go to the bullpen

With Stanford falling off a cliff Michigan is the premier combination of football and academics in the country.  Time to pour it on.

About non UM games next week...

we definitely don’t want LSU to beat Bama, right?

and if NW can beat ND that’s just gravy.

Im not really seeing other games that we should be very interested in at all.
