True Blue Grit

My wife and I were at that game.  It was just a bizarre game and weekend, all in all.  The weather was really balmy starting out on Saturday.  But as the game got closer, it started to threaten rain.  It finally started raining during the game.  Then the bizarre game, that fortunately ended in a win.  The next day started out really warm and windy - especially for a day in November - reaching 70 degrees.  But there was a humongous storm coming in from the west.  We unwisely decided to try and take a whirlwind tour of the Science and Industry museum before driving home.  This enabled the storm to catch up with us on the way home and we drove in a horrible driving, heavy rain almost the entire way back to Ann Arbor.

That 2014 team had redshirt senior Devin Gardner passing to three NFL receivers and it couldn't score. Breathtaking lack of competence by the offensive staff.

Yeah, I wonder what he could have been. 5-star recruit with plenty of arm strength, good speed, and a lot of size. He showed many flashes of brilliance (hello 2013, ND, Indiana, Ohio State, and the close to the 2012 season) but got obliterated because of an awful line and long-developing pass plays and was sentenced to one year of Nuss to close out his career.

My favorite memory of this game...is what happened one week later, when this Northwestern team went to South Bend, scored 43 points and beat Notre Dame.  M00N itself can go away forever.

To give an idea of how much this past decade has sucked; the majority of the wins from RichRod and Hoke are looked at with almost as much horror as the losses.

2014 game at Northwestern was the worst football game, at any level, that I ever attended. I was depressed leaving the stadium and it felt more like a loss. Thank god for the JH era even though we  haven’t beaten the big boys yet. The only game that comes close to matching that fiasco was the bowl game last year, which thankfully, I did not attend.

I've had a lot of miserable fan experiences watching Michigan Football in person. I have a Fan Endurance badge. I was front and center for The Horror. The list goes on.

This was the least fun game. We just about left early. It was awful. Nothing about it was enjoyable.

This game was during a couple years of me deciding to not waste my saturdays watching M play football.  I have since watched it on BTN and it is super painful. I would rather chew on tin foil.

At the same time, what a beautiful reminder about how far we have really come.

2014...An interesting year to be sure. Being born in 1985, this was the first year of my life that I looked forward to the Lions on Sunday more than I did Michigan on Saturday. Just some sad times.

I was there.

Even worse was Maryland the next week when bowl eligibility went bye bye.  It was 28 degrees out that day.

I've been laughing at this vid all week. Glad our program is now at a place where it is to the point where this is funny because it certainly wasn't at the time.

Whenever someone gets far too caught up in the few setbacks Harbaugh has had, I just want to shove this video right up their ass. What Harbaugh game, let alone Harbaugh WIN, has ever felt THIS bad? We've come a long way pretty quickly.

This video had me laughing my ass off and feeling terrible for doing so.

Devin Gardner had all the physical tools to be an unstoppable football god, and even was at times (when he stepped in for Denard in 2012, ND and OSU 2013), and the coaching staff at the time did absolutely nothing with him.
